"I originally bought this for someone else, but I'll let you have it cheap now," Gu Yunting said, speaking against his better judgment.
The bodyguard and driver felt a pang of sympathy for their master. This was clearly something he had bought specifically for Miss Ye.
Ye Wan, "..."
She hadn't eaten dessert in a long time and was indeed craving it. She picked up a spoon and ate the dessert in front of her, bite by bite.
Seeing her enjoy it so much, Gu Yunting asked, "Is it good?"
"Desserts are always good, but they're just too expensive. When I have money, I'll eat them every day!" Ye Wan declared generously.
Gu Yunting, "..."
It was the first time he had heard someone's ambition be to eat dessert every day once they had money...
"Want to try?" Ye Wan, seeing him staring at the dessert, offered him her spoon.
Gu Yunting looked up at her, then reached out, cupping the back of her head and pulling her towards him. His lips pressed down, biting hers, his tongue sweeping away the dessert residue from her lips, savoring that tiny bit of chocolate sauce.
When he released her, the man's mood improved considerably. He smirked, "It really does taste good."
Ye Wan's face instantly flushed crimson. He, he, how could he do that? She quickly lowered her head and continued eating. Did his words have a double meaning?
Finally finished, Ye Wan said, "I need to get back to school."
"Take this," Gu Yunting handed her a bag.
"What is this?" Ye Wan wanted to look.
"You'll see when you get to school. And stop wearing such ugly clothes from now on, they're an eyesore!" Gu Yunting said indifferently.
The bodyguard had already opened the car door for Ye Wan. She got out, looking down at her clothes. They weren't that bad, were they? Just ordinary clothes.
The car drove away. Ye Wan turned and walked towards the school. She glanced down curiously into the bag and took out its contents. It was candy, packaged in a transparent bear-shaped container. It was rather cute.
Another thing he bought for someone else, and she got it cheap.
Ye Wan glanced back at the luxury car. If she could maintain a peaceful coexistence with Gu Yunting until she left, it wouldn't be an unbearable situation.
In the car, Gu Yunting kept his eyes fixed on Ye Wan's retreating figure. When she turned to look back at him, his hand, resting on his leg, instinctively clenched. The girl only glanced once before turning away again and finally disappearing.
...
Ye Wan returned to the dormitory first. It was still early, so she could rest for a while. Jiang Yan saw her enter, still carrying a bag, and asked, "Ye Wan, did your brother pick you up for dinner? What did he buy for you?"
Jiang Yan had witnessed Ye Wan's frugality firsthand, so she knew Ye Wan wouldn't buy such things for herself. They must have been a gift.
"Uh... yes."
He was a brother, but not Lin Zehan.
She didn't want to explain. Her relationship with Gu Yunting was too complicated, so she could only imply it was Lin Zehan.
Jiang Yan took the bag and took out the little bear jar. "Wow, it's so cute! It's candy inside. Can I have one?"
"Go ahead, I don't eat candy," Ye Wan said with a smile and picked up a book to read.
"You're really strange. What girl doesn't like candy? You're the only girl I've ever met who doesn't like candy." Jiang Yan took one, unwrapped it, and popped it into her mouth. The sweet taste spread through her mouth, making her eyes squint happily.
She offered one to Ye Wan, who refused. "I really don't like candy!"
Seeing candy even made her feel nauseous. Ever since Gu Yunting had knocked away a piece of candy she had desperately protected, she could no longer eat it.
