The knife in Jiang Yan's hand fell, and she hugged Ye Wan, sobbing uncontrollably.
In the car, Jiang Yan held onto her mother, tears streaming down her face. Her mother's condition had clearly taken a turn for the worse, with half her face twitching. Upon arrival at the hospital, Jiang's mother was rushed into the emergency room. Jiang Yan's hands trembled as Ye Wan comforted her.
When Jin Lan received Jiang's mother's results, he frowned. The reason for her coma was an erupted aneurysm in her brain. Her situation was critical and required immediate surgery.
He came out and informed Ye Wan and Jiang Yan of the results. Upon hearing this, Jiang Yan's legs gave out, and she collapsed onto the ground. Ye Wan had to help her up.
"How could this happen?" Ye Wan asked.
"This tumor has likely been there for a while. The recent stress must have caused it to rupture. However, she arrived in time, and with immediate surgery, the problem shouldn't be too severe. Recovery might take some time, and complete rest is highly recommended during this period," Jin Lan stated professionally before leaving with a blank expression.
Ye Wan was speechless.
Hearing this, Jiang Yan hugged Ye Wan and cried again.
Jiang's mother's surgery was scheduled for tomorrow. That evening, Jiang Yan, holding Ye Wan, asked, "I feel so useless. I've never managed anything at home, and now I can't help with anything."
"You're still a student; this is normal. Don't be afraid. I'll ask Gu Yunting to help you."
Jiang Yan was Ye Wan's best friend, and she had been unconditionally good to her over the years. Ye Wan was determined to help her through Jiang Yan's most difficult times.
"Thank you, but you don't need to beg anyone. I'll think of something myself," Jiang Yan said, not wanting to put Ye Wan in too difficult a position.
Jiang Yan was likely exhausted and soon fell asleep. Ye Wan's phone rang, and she quickly answered it. It was Gu Yunting calling.
"Come out. I'm waiting for you outside," Gu Yunting said indifferently.
Ye Wan got up and went out, careful not to disturb Jiang Yan. "Jiang Yan is not in a good mood. I want to stay and accompany her."
"You sleeping with her won't solve anything. Only being with me will!" Gu Yunting scoffed.
Ye Wan was speechless.
Although his words sounded arrogant, they were undeniably true, and she couldn't refute them.
Ye Wan glanced back at Jiang Yan one last time, ensuring she was asleep, and then left. Outside the hospital, she saw Gu Yunting's car parked there. After getting in, Gu Yunting pulled her onto his lap, kissed her, and then proceeded to engage in their usual activities.
Ye Wan was speechless.
So, to him, she was just a suitable human-shaped pillow!
...
Jiang Yan had actually woken up. She was worried about her mother and got up to see her. Jiang's mother was now in the intensive care unit, under specialized care.
After watching her mother for a while, Jiang Yan, in a daze, walked towards Jin Lan's office. Jin Lan was looking at patient charts when he heard a sound and looked up to see the pale-faced girl.
His expression turned cold. "Get out!"
"Tomorrow... will you be operating on my mother?" Jiang Yan asked weakly.
"I only participated in your mother's rescue today. I don't have time to operate on her. Another specialist will be performing her surgery," Jin Lan said indifferently, his displeasure evident.
"I don't trust anyone else. Please, will you operate on her?" Jiang Yan looked at the man opposite her, her eyes filled with vulnerability.
"I am not a neurosurgeon. Tomorrow, a very renowned neurosurgeon will be performing this surgery. You can rest assured," Jin Lan said, appearing agitated and preparing to leave.
Jiang Yan grabbed him, her fingers turning white from the force. She suddenly knelt by his legs. "Jin Lan, I beg you, save my mother. I can't lose her."
