Chapter 387 Appetizers First

Qin Shilei had never imagined that the other party had not only set up three statues in a hidden location for Shiva's descent but had also found a divine child whose physique was suitable.

According to the other party, Shiva's strength would be even greater if he descended through this divine child's avatar.

This was truly infuriating.

He feigned surprise and asked, "Lord Mayor Lair, are you the divine child? If you are, I am willing to pledge my allegiance to you. I will follow you forever and help you expand your territory."

A hint of joy flashed across Lair's face. "Although I am not the divine child, the divine child is my subordinate. As long as you follow me, you will surely have wealth and honor in the future."

Qin Shilei replied with slight disappointment, "So the divine child is someone else? May I ask who it is?"

Lair smiled faintly. "It's not convenient for me to say who it is. You just need to know that Shiva can descend through the divine child's avatar."

Qin Shilei glanced at the people around Lair but couldn't discern anything unusual.

"Lord Mayor Lair, we are all on the same side. It would be best if you revealed him. This way, we can all work together to protect the divine child and prevent King Qin An from accidentally killing him, which would hinder Shiva's descent."

Everyone else also urged him to reveal the divine child's true identity.

Lair hesitated slightly, then shook his head. "For the divine child, being hidden in the shadows is the greatest protection. Moreover, Shiva has bestowed a treasure upon him, and even King Qin An cannot completely kill the divine child. As long as it's less than three seconds, Shiva can descend to Blue Star through the divine child."

Damn it.

Qin Shilei cursed inwardly, "Lair and Shiva have really thought things through."

Lair scanned the crowd and spoke again, "To reassure everyone, shall we go to the temple now and pay respects to Shiva's avatar?"

Everyone readily agreed.

Qin Shilei, however, hesitated.

He wondered if Shiva's avatar could see through his disguise as a false believer.

He hoped he wouldn't walk into a trap and be made a fool of.

"Robert, let's go," Lair called out suspiciously.

"Alright, coming," Qin Shilei decided, ultimately choosing to test Shiva's strength.

Soon, they arrived before a magnificent temple several kilometers away.

Qin Shilei mingled with the crowd and entered the temple with them.

Including Qin Shilei, there were thirty-nine Golden tier experts, but in reality, about half of them were not Shiva's followers.

However, now that they were on his territory, they all bowed piously before the statue in the center of the temple.

Lair held a bracelet and whispered something, likely communicating with Shiva in the heavenly realm through it.

For a brief moment, Qin Shilei considered teleporting to snatch the bracelet and abduct Lair.

But he quickly suppressed the thought.

Shiva must have left behind more than one item for communication, and they would likely be in different people's hands.

Simply taking the bracelet would only alert them and wouldn't stop Shiva's descent.

As Lair continued his incantations, Qin Shilei became increasingly vigilant, ready to destroy the statue and teleport away at any moment.

A powerful oppressive aura suddenly appeared in the hall.

Then, Shiva's phantom emerged in front of the statue, slowly solidifying into a human-like form, albeit with six arms.

"Greetings, Lord Shiva!"

The crowd knelt below and shouted in unison.

"Why do you show no faith in me?"

As Shiva's majestic voice boomed, Qin Shilei felt a cold gaze land upon him.

"Can Shiva see through the disguise of the Nameless Mask?"

Qin Shilei almost stood up and drew his sword to attack.

But he noticed that Shiva said "you," indicating it wasn't directed specifically at him.

He pondered for a moment and then calmly replied, "Lord Shiva, I am a follower of the Sky King of Illusions, so I only respect you, not worship you."

Several others also spoke up, stating they were followers of Brahma or the Sky King of Illusions, and thus did not have faith in Shiva.

Lair quickly explained, "Lord Shiva, they are all citizens of our India who fled to Gaston due to the persecution by King Qin An. Although they are not your followers, we all share a common enemy. Please do not blame them."

"Brahma and the Sky King of Illusions have fallen. Even with the most devout hearts, you cannot receive their response. It is better to convert to me, Shiva. As long as your faith is firm, you will receive my blessings, and your souls will be welcomed into my divine kingdom after death. Why wouldn't you want that?"

Shiva's voice was laced with a deceptive, alluring tone.

Immediately, two Golden tier experts with shallow faith spoke devoutly, "I am willing to believe in Lord Shiva. Please bestow invincible power upon me."

Shiva casually pointed, and two streams of white light shot into their bodies.

The two men rejoiced and thanked him, "Thank you for your blessings, Lord Shiva!"

Shiva said indifferently, "This is just a small reward. As long as you continue to hold firm to your faith, you will undoubtedly receive even greater power from me."

Someone asked with a dispirited tone, "Lord Shiva, has our god Brahma truly fallen?"

Shiva's expression turned cold. "Are you questioning my words?"

The man quickly replied, "I dare not."

Upon learning that their worshipped deity had passed away, several more people defected to Shiva's side.

Qin Shilei was worried that if everyone converted to Shiva, he would be exposed immediately.

Fortunately, there were still eight loyal followers of Brahma and the Sky King of Illusions who firmly believed their gods had not fallen.

Shiva glanced at Qin Shilei and the others, then turned to Lair and asked, "Do you have any news of King Qin An?"

Lair replied, "He is likely in Tusenburg now and should arrive in Gaston within half a month."

Shiva said coldly, "Once his whereabouts are discovered, notify me immediately. I will make him regret ever being born."

"Your command shall be obeyed!" Lair bowed in response.

Shiva glanced at Qin Shilei and the others again, then slowly vanished into thin air.

As soon as Shiva disappeared, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Lair immediately assumed an arrogant demeanor. "Everyone, have I lied to you? By following me, we can surely slay King Qin An, and with the power of Lord Shiva, we will undoubtedly stand at the pinnacle of the world."

Qin Shilei ignored Lair's attempt to win him over and secretly pondered how to eliminate all of them and send Shiva, who was behind them, back to his divine kingdom.

It seemed the Nameless Mask was extremely effective, even fooling Shiva's avatar.

Given this, he could lay low for now, and once the divine child was found, he could make his plans.

"However, before that, I must cause you some trouble."

A sly smile played on Qin Shilei's lips as he chuckled inwardly.

After separating from the crowd, he left Gaston. He found Ding Teng a thousand kilometers away, gave him some instructions, and then returned to Gaston.

Let them have a taste of the zombie apocalypse, a small appetizer.
