Chapter 18 The Eagle Recognizes Its Master

It was a pity that heaven did not hear Qin Shilei's desperate plea.

He had only descended a few dozen meters when the eagle swooped down.

Its target was his back.

Qin Shilei tensed his waist, pulling his legs up to curl into a ball, evading the eagle's attack.

The eagle streaked past him, circled in the sky, and then dived again.

This time, its target was Qin Shilei's parachute.

"What a feathered beast."

Qin Shilei could only watch as the eagle tore through his parachute.

He instantly transformed into a cannonball, plummeting straight towards the lake.

"A hundred meters high, hitting the water is like hitting concrete, equally fatal."

Qin Shilei had no desire to test if this hypothesis was correct.

An umbrella appeared in his hand, he opened it, and it was instantly torn apart by the strong wind.

Although Qin Shilei's speed had also slowed down a bit, the umbrella was completely useless.

Stay calm!

He had plenty of umbrellas, all taken from convenience stores.

Another umbrella appeared in his hand, slowing his descent.

At this speed, Qin Shilei felt he might still have a chance to struggle even if he fell into the lake.

Before his optimism could take hold, a massive silhouette appeared overhead.

"Damn it, I almost forgot about this beast above me."

He turned his head and saw the eagle's sharp talons about to grasp his shoulder.

Qin Shilei raised his right hand, and a shelf instantly materialized diagonally above his back.

The eagle, grasping the other side of the shelf, was propelled by its momentum, slamming into Qin Shilei.

"Hmph!"

Qin Shilei grunted, being knocked sideways several meters.

Now the shelf was wedged between Qin Shilei and the eagle, at an oblique eighty-degree angle.

The eagle was stunned by the sudden appearance of the shelf.

Its head was trapped in a gap in the shelf, its talons involuntarily gripping it tightly.

Shadow Step.

Qin Shilei used it to traverse the shelf as if it were a wall.

Using his hands and feet, he climbed from one side of the shelf to the top.

By then, the eagle had already freed its head from the shelf, its talons loosened their grip, and it flapped its wings, preparing to fly higher.

Qin Shilei pushed off with his right foot on the descending shelf, using it for leverage, and lunged at the eagle's back.

The Seven Star Sword reappeared in his right hand, and he fiercely struck at the base of the eagle's wing.

However, due to the eagle's thrashing, he only managed to sever over a dozen feathers.

By then, Qin Shilei had landed on the eagle's back, his head facing its tail feathers.

The world beneath him suddenly dropped, and he almost fell off.

He hooked his left arm around to the side, tightly gripping the base of its wing.

His right hand gripped the sword and plunged it downwards, piercing through its body, leaving only the hilt exposed.

"Whoosh!"

In pain, the eagle shrieked and surged upwards, attempting to shake Qin Shilei off.

Qin Shilei held onto the wing with his left hand, gripped the sword hilt with his right, clamped his legs around the eagle's neck, and with his head facing down, ascended towards the heavens with the eagle.

The eagle, with Qin Shilei on its back, would occasionally dive, fly diagonally, or perform a sudden ascent, trying to dislodge the human on it.

But it was never successful, and instead, its wounds worsened.

Qin Shilei also wanted to strike again, but the Seven Star Sword was lodged too deeply to be easily pulled out.

He could only, while maintaining his grip to avoid falling, repeatedly shake the sword hilt back and forth, deepening the eagle's injuries.

"Whoosh, whoosh."

The eagle's cries grew weaker and more subdued.

"Ding, the eagle voluntarily wishes to become your pet. Do you accept?"

"What? Taming an eagle, I haven't even started yet, and you want to be my pet? You're too impatient."

Qin Shilei immediately accepted the request in his mind.

He feared that if he delayed any longer, the eagle might die, and he himself would likely fall to his death.

Pet: Eagle

Level: Black Iron Three Stars (Strength reduced to Plastic Eight Stars due to extensive energy expenditure in nurturing offspring.)

Skill: Swiftness

Loyalty: 59

Qin Shilei felt a faint connection with the eagle.

He then mentally commanded it to descend repeatedly.

The eagle landed on a grassy patch and collapsed, unable to stand.

Qin Shilei immediately dismounted from its back, shook his head, dispelling the slight dizziness.

He turned and glared at his new pet.

"You almost cost me my life. Should I steam you or braise you?"

"Chirp chirp!"

The eagle's eyes held a hint of pleading.

"Your loyalty is only 59. I think you're a white-eyed wolf ready to betray your master at any moment," Qin Shilei said fiercely.

"Ding, loyalty +1."

Did this mean I qualified?

[Perform attribute refresh?]

[Refresh.]

One blue and two red attributes appeared on the eagle.

Adorable (Blue): Increases charm by 50 points to all members of the opposite sex.

Unlikely that I, myself, need my pet to act cute to attract the opposite sex.

Wait, you seem to be female, so you can only attract males.

What a terrible attribute!

Unwavering Loyalty (Red): Once bonded, never regrets.

Qin Shilei suppressed the urge to choose this one and looked at the third attribute.

Self-Healing (Red): Superb recovery ability, making your pet an unkillable cockroach.

Qin Shilei looked at the Seven Star Sword still embedded in the eagle and, with a reverse motion, selected the "Guard Master" attribute.

Self-Healing seemed like a good attribute for healing the eagle.

But a loyalty of 60 was too low.

Are you really going to let it recover and then betray me?

It would be better if it died; such a mutated animal would be a treasure.

This sword was inserted from the eagle's leg towards its abdomen. It was unclear if its internal organs were injured.

Qin Shilei carefully pulled the Seven Star Sword out of the eagle.

Two streams of blood spurted from the wounds, then slowly thinned.

Fortunately, the main artery was not hit.

Qin Shilei sprinkled some medicinal powder on the wounds and bandaged them with gauze.

"Whether you live or not depends on yourself."

Qin Shilei then asked, "Where are my little ones? Take me there quickly. I will raise them well."

"Chirp chirp!"

With the "Unwavering Loyalty" attribute added, the eagle was completely obedient to Qin Shilei's words and quickly pecked at its own belly with its head.

"Oh, you haven't laid your eggs yet."

Qin Shilei instantly understood the reason for the eagle's voluntary surrender as his pet.

Everything for the next generation!

Even though the next generation had not yet been born.

Buy one, get a few free, quite good!

What to do now?

The pet was severely injured and could not fly, and he couldn't stay here to guard it forever.

In the wilderness, a more powerful animal could appear at any moment. Would he then accompany his pet to be devoured by a strange beast?

"Ding, pet space unlocked."

That's more like it.

Qin Shilei stored the eagle in his pet space.

He looked around and found that he was only one to two kilometers away from the cliff.

Perhaps the eagle had been circling nearby, hoping for another eagle to rescue it.

The surroundings were relatively safe.

Impatient, Qin Shilei took out the silver treasure chest from his spatial ring.

He opened it, and three items, one green, one red, and one purple, appeared inside the chest.
