Chapter 11 News of the Silver Treasure Chest

Qin Shilei advanced instead of retreating, using a flash step to engage the closest zombie.

A cold gleam flashed, and its head fell.

Before the zombies could surround him, Qin Shilei quickly drew his sword and slew three more of the nearest ones.

Then he turned and ran west.

These zombies had all been female students in their past lives. Although becoming zombies made them tireless and increased their physical abilities, their speed still lagged behind Qin Shilei, who had already advanced to four-star.

Qin Shilei moved like a refreshing breeze around the periphery of the zombie horde, occasionally turning to slash down a zombie with his sword.

Before long, the twenty-odd zombies around him had gathered behind him.

Their faces were contorted, their eyes were blood-red, and their mouths were agape as they chased Qin Shilei.

Their sole desire was to pounce on and devour the living person before them.

The space Qin Shilei could currently maneuver in was the open ground between the two dormitory buildings.

To the west was the outer wall, beyond which lay the area outside the campus. To the east was the campus road, with more wandering zombies in the distance.

The two dormitory buildings were separated by nearly ten meters, and the outer wall was more than ten meters from the campus road.

This meant Qin Shilei's operational space was a little over a hundred square meters.

Evading the pursuit of over twenty zombies in this hundred-odd square meter area was by no means easy.

In dorm room 403 of the convenience store building, a girl happened to walk onto the balcony and witness this scene.

"Xiaoli, hurry up and look. There's a boy downstairs being chased by a group of zombies, he's about to die."

"We're starving to death, and you still have the leisure to watch a spectacle?" Chen Xiaoli chided, but she also walked to the balcony.

As she looked down, she saw Qin Shilei sideways slice off a zombie's head.

"This boy is so amazing."

"No matter how amazing he is, he'll still be eaten by zombies."

"Maybe he can kill all the zombies."

"Do you think that's possible? Look, the zombies have already surrounded him. He'll be eaten by them in less than three minutes."

"Alas, what a pity that such a handsome boy will be eaten by zombies."

"You should worry more about ourselves."

Suddenly, both of them stopped talking and stared dumbfounded at the scene below.

A silver light erupted amidst the zombie horde, and three or four zombies collapsed simultaneously.

The Seven Star Sword weaved like a dragon through the zombies' necks, beheading them one by one.

Qin Shilei darted and weaved through the zombie horde like an agile leopard, kicking aside or shoving away the approaching zombies.

Although the zombies were ferocious and devoid of pain, they were unarmed.

As long as he wasn't pinned or bitten, they were just cores to Qin Shilei.

As time passed, the twenty to thirty zombies gradually dwindled to a dozen, and then to just a few.

However, these living dead, left with only their bloodlust and no fear, still growled and pressed towards Qin Shilei.

"Even though I'm a handsome guy with great charisma, you guys are too clingy. Lie down obediently."

Qin Shilei did not relax at all, his Seven Star Sword swiftly reaping the remaining zombies.

The two girls upstairs watched with dazed eyes.

"So cool. I wish he were my boyfriend."

"Since yesterday, we've only seen zombies slaughtering humans. I never imagined someone could kill zombies as easily as chopping vegetables."

"So martial arts are really useful, and swordsmanship can be this cool."

"Let's ask him to save us."

Chen Xiaoli quickly returned to the dormitory to find a piece of white paper and wrote "SAVE US" on it.

She crumpled it into a ball, returned to the balcony, and threw it in the direction of Qin Shilei, who was digging for cores.

The paper ball falling from the sky startled Qin Shilei. He looked up and saw two girls on the fourth floor waving at him incessantly.

One had wavy hair, leaning her upper body over the balcony railing, looking somewhat fierce but cute.

The other wore black-rimmed glasses, giving off a quiet aura.

Qin Shilei glanced at them, then lowered his head to continue digging for cores.

"What does he mean? Is he going to save us after he's done?" Zhu Yurong asked, a question she didn't even believe herself.

"I'll throw another note." Chen Xiaoli ran back to the dormitory to get paper and a pen.

Notes continued to fall, but Qin Shilei didn't even look up again.

"I'm so angry! He has the ability, but not a shred of gentlemanly grace."

In a fit of anger, Zhu Yurong returned to the dormitory and moved a chair. "I'll smash this bastard to death."

Zhang Xiaoli quickly snatched the chair away. She looked down and saw that Qin Shilei was still focused on digging for cores.

Patting her chest, she said thankfully, "He's our only hope right now. If you make him angry like this, we'll be completely lost."

"He doesn't show any sign of wanting to save us. What do we do?" Zhu Yurong said, starting to cry.

"I have an idea."

Zhang Xiaoli's eyes lit up. She cupped her hands around her mouth and called out softly to the man below:

"I know where there's a silver treasure chest."

After shouting, she looked around, afraid that her voice would attract zombies.

"Silver treasure chest?"

Qin Shilei's eyes brightened. He stopped what he was doing and looked up at the building.

"If you save us, I'll tell you the location of the silver treasure chest."

Zhang Xiaoli said with hopeful eyes.

"Heh heh."

Qin Shilei suddenly shook his head and said, "You're trapped in the dormitory, how could you possibly know about a silver treasure chest?"

Seeing that Qin Shilei was about to lower his head to dig for cores again.

Zhang Xiaoli quickly said, "I saw it through a drone, and I even took pictures."

Upon hearing this, Qin Shilei's interest was immediately piqued.

Meeting her hopeful gaze, he nodded and said, "You wait upstairs."

After quickly excavating the cores, Qin Shilei returned to the convenience store, packed some food in his backpack, and then locked the store with a padlock.

With his backpack on, he headed upstairs.

To ensure his safety, Qin Shilei found and killed the wandering zombies on the first to fourth floors one by one.

More than ten minutes later, he finally arrived at their dormitory door.

"Who?"

"Come to save you."

The door slowly opened a crack. Seeing that there was no danger, it was quickly opened wider. After Qin Shilei entered, it was quickly shut again.

Qin Shilei opened his backpack and handed it over. "Tell me the location of the treasure chest, and this food and water will be yours."

Zhang Xiaoli stopped her roommate from taking the items and said, looking up, "If you save us, then I'll tell you the location of the treasure chest."

"How can I save you?"

Qin Shilei shook his head and said, "The entire Blue Star is overrun with zombies, where can I possibly save you to? It's safer for you to stay here. With this food, you'll last until government rescue arrives."

"Take us home."

"I want to follow you."

The two girls spoke at the same time.

"Xiaoli, aren't you worried about your family?" Zhu Yurong turned to persuade her.

"Your home is in Longjiang City, and mine is thousands of miles away, how can we go back?"

Zhang Xiaoli said with a bitter expression.

Qin Shilei also said, "I can only apologize for my inability. I can't even get back to my own home, let alone escort you."

He then added, "I am alone and weak, and I fear I cannot take you with me."

"Xiaoli, let him give us more food. He's going to kill zombies, how can he bring us along?"

Zhu Yurong took Zhang Xiaoli's hand and whispered.

"I can help you, let me follow you."

Zhang Xiaoli broke free from her roommate's hand and said firmly.
