Chapter 815 Insect Nest

He wasn't affected by any of this, however. He slowly walked toward the mall, contemplating his own strength.

On the Pacific seabed, the construction of the Zerg Swarm was in full swing. So far, seven large, eleven medium, and thirty-three small Zerg Nests had been established along the trench.

There were three hundred and forty-two Overminds, and the number of Zerg units of all levels was roughly eight million. Moreover, as more and more Zerg Nests were established, the hatching speed was accelerating.

Nearly one-fifth of the Zerg units were Drones. They disguised themselves as conventional marine life,

collecting energy in areas such as submarine volcanoes, hydrothermal vents, and shallow sea surfaces,

gathering or producing biomass themselves.

Together with the Creep (which could produce and store nutrients, as well as serve as building materials and a source of biomass), they formed the cornerstone of the Zerg Nests.

Above the Drones were the Warriors.

Previously, the Warriors were personally created by Li Ang, who used the warping effect of the Abyss Magic Mirror to promote mutation.

Now, in addition to being mutated by the radiation from the Abyss Magic Mirror, the Warriors had two new evolutionary paths. The Overminds would command their subordinate units to collect the genes of all creatures they encountered,

analyze and decipher them, find genes with potential, inject them into the Hatchery, hatch a large number of Zerg eggs, and mass-produce new Zerg units. After deliberation by the Overmind Council, if the new units had developmental potential, they would be included in the Zerg sequence.

If they had no potential, they would all be recycled, leaving only one or two samples and gene chains stored in the Zerg gene bank.

All Warrior optimization schemes and gene seeds would be escorted by the Warriors to Li Ang in the form of stored "eggs" every so often.

Li Ang would review the schemes and use the [Chimera Creation Station] in the Alchemist's Workshop to add Swamp Divine Power and create powerful Warriors that ordinary Hatcheries could not produce.

However, since using the [Chimera Creation Station] required spending game currency, consumed a lot of Li Ang's Divine Power and time, and carried the risk of failure,

the number of Warriors produced through this evolutionary path was not large.

Each one was a strategic weapon of the Zerg Swarm, exceptionally valuable.

The rapid development of the Zerg Swarm meant that the types and models of ordinary Warriors were as numerous as the stars in the sky. An endless stream of gene sequences flowed in every day, and new modification schemes were proposed by the research Overminds, only to be rejected by the Overmind Council.

There was no superior or subordinate relationship between the Overminds. All Overminds directly obeyed Father Li Ang and the Saintess Prophet Chai Chai.

They were assigned different positions based on their respective areas of expertise.

Some were responsible for detecting the surrounding environment and monitoring nearby human creations – Chai Chai privately called them "security guards."

Some were responsible for coordinating the construction of the Zerg Nests and supervising production labor – Chai Chai privately called them "foremen."

Some were responsible for studying gene sequences and developing Zerg weapons and Warriors – Chai Chai privately called them "researchers."

Some were responsible for reviewing the schemes proposed by other Overminds and helping the Saintess and Father handle less important decisions – Chai Chai privately called them "lackeys."

Of course, all Overminds had to participate in the Father's Praise activities on time, pray to the statue of Li Ang on time, and report to the Father regularly – Li Ang could observe the Overminds' mental states and monitor the Zerg Nests through the Divine Power link.

Due to the large number and variety of Warriors, even Li Ang and the Overminds could not accurately classify the types of Warriors according to biological concepts such as kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species.

The classification of Zerg Warriors was roughly divided into the following levels:

Servant-Class – Small in size, similar to cats and dogs, agile and swift, good at stealth, lurking, disguise, and assassination, small in number. They used melee weapons and small-caliber firearms to assist the main force of the Zerg Nests in assaults. Mimic Zerg that could replace humans and lurk behind enemy lines also belonged to the Servant-Class.

Beast-Class – Size ranged from wolves and motorcycles to donkeys and horses. Their running speed approached that of cars. They were the main force on the battlefield, the most numerous, and the fastest to produce. They were equipped with spike guns, acid cannons, flamethrowers, flesh-eating beetle guns, grappling hooks, and other weapons.

Heavy-Class – Size ranged from cars to elephants. They were usually equipped with high-powered biomass shells, and their tactical role was similar to that of tanks in modern warfare. The Infested Zerg that had appeared before was considered a special Heavy-Class.

Fortress-Class – True war behemoths, such as giant burrowing sandworms capable of causing geological collapses, were rare in number.

Ship-Class – On the same level as the Fortress-Class, but their range of activity was on the sea surface or seabed. They were usually living warships. Their size varied greatly. They were difficult to cultivate and slow to manufacture, but each one could serve as a mobile platform, carrying a large number of low-level Zerg units.

Ship-Class belonged to the Zerg Swarm's marine units, and they could be further subdivided into Destroyer-Class, Cruiser-Class, Battleship-Class, and Mothership-Class according to their size and function.

The highest-level Battleship-Class and Mothership-Class were either directly controlled by the Overminds or were Overminds themselves.

For example, Behemoth, Gorgon, and Jormungandr were still lurking in the outer sea of Yin City.

Among the Zerg Swarm's land units, there were also four special types of soldiers.

Special-Class – They did not have combat capabilities themselves, and they entered the field as logistical support units, planting Creep, recycling corpses, and temporarily creating new units.

Guard-Class – Larger than Beast-Class in size and better equipped. When Beast-Class and Heavy-Class units could not win, Guard-Class would fill the battlefield and be responsible for strong attacks and assaults.

Sentinel-Class – Larger than the former, they were only responsible for protecting the Overminds and Zerg Nests and were usually not deployed in battle.

Lord-Class – Also known as Tyrant-Class, each one was personally created by Li Ang using the [Chimera Creation Station]. Their physical strength was comparable to that of a Lv20 player who was not equipped with items and did not use skills. Each Tyrant was an Overmind.

Guard, Sentinel, and Lord – these three types of Zerg units could all take on the responsibility of commanding lower-level Zerg on the battlefield, controlling them to launch attacks in one direction.

In Li Ang and the Overminds' vision, the Zerg Swarm's combat style would definitely be to use an endless sea of Zerg to overwhelm opponents,

and use terrifying logistical capabilities to recycle battlefield biomass, continuously create new Warriors, and devour and annihilate everything through war.

However, this gave rise to three problems:

First, the current stage of the Zerg race did not allow the Overminds to precisely control every single Zerg, or even every group of Zerg.

The Overminds themselves could hear the Father's voice through the Divine Power link,

but lower-level units could only understand orders by receiving pheromones, sound waves, and light emitted by the Overminds and Guard, Sentinel, and Lord-Class units.

If the battlefield environment was chaotic, filled with smoke, blood flowing everywhere, and transcendent powers flying all over the place, lower-level units might not receive orders, or even receive the wrong orders.

All the Zerg would be dizzy, a chaotic mess, not knowing what to do.
