Chapter 89: Chapter 66: Controlling the Physical Body
Could it be that the dragon buried underground years ago called ’Ying’ is actually the origin of this Walking Flood Dragon?
He knew that there was a dragon buried in the underground palace, and combined with the imagery he had seen from the tombstone earlier, he was certain that the Fox Spirit was not deceiving him; what she said was indeed true.
For some reason, he suddenly thought of that Feng Shui Master who came to the village!
"Do you not believe me?" The Fox Spirit saw Zhang Chen standing there in a daze and thought he didn’t believe her. She became anxious: "Dragons have vanished from the world for thousands of years. Do you think dragons are just legends and don’t believe there’s a dragon buried underground?"
"I have evidence!" The Fox Spirit saw Zhang Chen remain unmoved, and finally got somewhat angry. She stamped her foot in frustration: "Years ago, when the great tomb cracked open, my ancestor snuck in and brought out a dragon tendon."
"Dragon tendon?" Zhang Chen was taken aback by her words, his voice full of surprise.
"Wait here!"
The Fox Spirit’s spirit disappeared from the spot and shortly returned from the great tomb, holding a rope about a meter long, about as thick as a pinky finger, crystalline and resembling crystal, appearing behind the barrier.
"This is a piece of dragon tendon, something that cannot be imitated or forged by anything in the world. I’m giving you this dragon tendon as a token of my sincerity," the Fox Spirit said as she tossed the dragon tendon behind the barrier.
"Dragon tendon!"
Zhang Chen’s eyes lit up. He hurriedly stepped forward to take the dragon tendon, then held it in his hand to examine it.
It was very soft and elastic, much like the bands used for slingshots in later generations, except its elasticity and toughness were far superior.
"If this thing were made into a slingshot, it would probably be no worse than a crossbow." Zhang Chen stared at the dragon tendon in his hand, his eyes filled with joy. This was exactly what he needed right now.
With the material for a slingshot, he wouldn’t even need to wrap extra items around it to enhance its flexibility. Meanwhile, he secretly marveled that the dragon had been dead for God knows how many years, yet the dragon tendon had not decayed and still retained its flexibility, proving that a dragon is no ordinary creature.
A meter-long dragon tendon was enough to make a slingshot.
He hadn’t heard of it having any other uses.
"It seems that there really is a Great Creation within that tomb, otherwise you wouldn’t be so eager, even to the point of offering a dragon tendon," Zhang Chen said to the Fox Spirit.
He certainly knew there was a Creation within the ancient tomb, not only a dragon but also a Divine Lady was buried there.
But he was flattering the Fox Spirit in order to extract more information.
"How about it? Do you want to collaborate with me?" the Fox Spirit asked.
"Since there’s such a Creation inside, why don’t you take it? Why share it with me? You really are a benevolent Bodhisattva," Zhang Chen said casually as he played with the dragon tendon in his hand, trying to pry information from the Fox Spirit.
"The Golden Light on your body can restrain a certain eerie object in the ancient tomb. Only by working together can we obtain the treasures within," the Fox Spirit said, her eyes filled with anticipation as she gazed at Zhang Chen.
"Treasures? What kind of treasures could make you so keen?" Zhang Chen probed without showing his emotions.
"After the True Dragon fell, it left behind a Creation. You’ll know once you go inside," the Fox Spirit said but refused to elaborate.
"If it weren’t for you, I would eventually be able to unearth the grand tomb and take away the True Dragon’s Creation," Zhang Chen said, with a hint of amusement in his eyes as he looked at the Fox Spirit.
"You’re thinking too much. The tomb that holds the True Dragon is inside a complete mountain, with rocks several tens of meters thick. Without my Transformation of Illusion and Reality, how could you get in? By using your chisel? Or by burning with fire?" The Fox Spirit looked at Zhang Chen, glancing at the Luoyang Shovel he had thrown outside the cave, with mockery in her eyes.
"You struggle so much just to dig through frozen ground, even if you dig until you die, you’ll never dig through the stones! Even a Divine Being has areas of expertise, and they are not omnipotent." The Fox Spirit was slightly smug.
Zhang Chen looked at the Fox Spirit, who was all smug, and was momentarily speechless. In this world, so-called Superpower Users are referred to as Divine Beings. However, Zhang Chen could only think these Divine Beings were too low-key!
So low it exploded!
Having heard the Fox Spirit’s words and combined with the abilities of the mysterious Divine Being in his dream who could change the world with a wave of the hand, Zhang Chen felt that nine times out of ten, what the Fox Spirit said was not false. If that’s the case, excavating the great tomb would indeed be quite troublesome! With the bluestone several tens of meters thick, how could he dig in?
But he was about to dig to the tomb’s gate; then, he should know whether there was another way to enter the tomb.
However, it seemed that the Fox Spirit was now hiding in the cave. Even if he didn’t agree, there was no way to deal with her, so he might as well deceive her for now!
"I’ll fool her first, and when I’ve dug up the tomb’s gate, I’ll settle the score with the Fox Spirit later." Zhang Chen quickly made up his mind.
Since he couldn’t deal with the Fox Spirit, he could at least make her complacent and avoid any interference while he dug the soil.
After all, it was only a matter of this day’s work. Soon, he should be able to dig up to the tomb’s entrance and verify its authenticity!
As for setting the Fox Spirit on fire or smoking her out, Zhang Chen thought it wasn’t reliable. He was well aware of the vastness of the underground tomb. With a massive underground palace spanning dozens of miles, it couldn’t possibly be empty. Who knew how many burial items and mechanisms were inside, not to mention the possibility of underground rivers connecting to the outside world, making it impossible to fill the space with smoke.
