Chapter 47 - 41: Shedding a Human Skin

Chapter 47: Chapter 41: Shedding a Human Skin

The so-called eagle training is actually very difficult because people often can’t outlast the eagle and end up getting exhausted themselves.

Zhang Chen finished making the leather gear, then used it to secure the hawk on the stand, and then Zhang Chen sat across from the eagle, staring intently at the hunting falcon with his eyes fixed.

The eagle training has begun!

Next door

The Little Fox Spirit lay bored on the table, watching the bookish Zhang Chen reading scriptures, his mind filled with countless thoughts, suddenly remembering that reckless person next door: "I wonder what that brute is doing."

With that thought, the Little Fox Spirit’s soul emerged, and then the Yin Spirit passed through the wall, its eyes witnessing the scene of Zhang Chen training the eagle.

"A hunting falcon? Where did this kid catch a hunting falcon from?" The Little Fox Spirit looked at Zhang Chen’s hunting falcon, a hint of dread in his eyes, glanced around without making a move, and returned to his own house.

Day by day passed, and the burning sensation within Zhang Chen’s body intensified. He felt as if every inch of his body had been scorched by raging flames, and it seemed some kind of mutation had occurred in his blood vessels, their numbers seemingly increasing.

On the fourth day

Ultimately, the hunting falcon couldn’t endure it, and when Zhang Chen offered the chicken meat, the hunting falcon swallowed it, and he knew his eagle training had succeeded.

After successfully training the eagle, Zhang Chen sat in the courtyard eating stewed meat, brewing herbs, sensing the flow of blood in his body, and felt the pain had lessened considerably:

"Today, it seems the burning sensation within my body has diminished significantly."

"The root of the scorching pain in the past actually came from that crystal core, which flowed within me, and wherever it passed, it felt like a small knife was scraping against my meridians, making the pain unbearable. After such a long period of adaptation, my blood vessels seem to have adjusted to its flow, so the pain gradually decreased." Zhang Chen cooked the herbs, then drank them slowly, feeling his liver’s blood production speed up, he slowly reached out his hand to start eating meat.

"Just lacking three hundred and fifty points!" Zhang Chen looked at the Golden Finger Interface, feeling a mix of amusement and helplessness. In the past, three hundred points would have been just a day’s hard work, but now he’s stuck here.

"No need to rush, there’s something wrong with that ancient tomb, and I should wait until I fully recover physically before going. Now, having nothing else to do, I can train the eagle!" Zhang Chen sensed the blood in his body, still lacking one-fifth, which would take about three days to replenish, and then it won’t be too late to do work.

Of course, these three days refer to the normal absorption of the prey’s blood, if relying solely on daily meals, it would take much longer.

But right now, the most important thing for him is sleep! Even if the body still hurts, not closing the eyes for four days is something even an iron man can’t withstand!

A peaceful night passed without incident.

Morning

Zhang Chen was awakened by the sound of the hunting falcon flapping its wings. He sat up, calmed the hunting falcon, lit an oil lamp, cut a piece of meat to feed it, then filled a basin with water and was about to wash. After rubbing his hands in the water basin, Zhang Chen was utterly shocked on the spot.

The skin came off!

Yes, a complete layer of skin came off! Not the dead skin kind! It was an entire layer of skin.

But after the skin came off, what was revealed was not flesh, but a snowy whiteness, and even under the light it remained astonishingly white.

"What’s going on?" Zhang Chen looked at the large patch of skin rubbed off his hand, then cautiously stretched out his hand to pull, and soon couldn’t stop, large sections of skin being torn away. A quarter of an hour later, Zhang Chen looked at the complete human skin on the ground, then looked down at his own pristine, flawless skin, appearing utterly bewildered.

"I’ve shed a layer of skin, but it’s not dead skin, it’s complete skin. The burning feeling in my body before was actually like peeling muscles and skin, stripping away my previous skin to spur the growth of new skin." Zhang Chen raised his hands, only to see that both hands were delicate and fair, the calluses on them had all disappeared.

These hands, if seen by others, wouldn’t compare even to those of a wealthy prince or noble family.

Although the burning feeling still persisted, it had greatly reduced. Zhang Chen had a premonition that this transformation might end in three to five days.

"This skin is astonishingly white, even far surpassing those pampered young masters." Zhang Chen touched his own skin, an inexplicable look in his eyes, and then, without hesitation, lit the furnace and burned the human skin.

Such a horrifying thing as shedding skin should not be spread around, for fear that the villagers might mistaken him as an outsider, leading to trouble.

Besides, the human skin can’t be kept, lest some strange being in this world could use it to harm or curse him in the dark, which would be troublesome.

Zhang Chen burned the dead skin completely, then finished making breakfast, ate a bowl of meat soup, and walked out of the house with a joyful face. By then, the sun had risen, its rays shining on Zhang Chen’s cheeks and skin, and suddenly, a thought struck him, feeling as if the world before his eyes was different.

His skin seemed to be able to sense the flow of air, sense the mountain wind, sense the sunlight from the sky, and seemed capable of capturing some inexplicable information.
