Chapter 125: Chapter 82: Mists Growing from the Stone Wall (Part 2)
Zhang Chen raised the torch and shifted his steps, arriving in front of the stone wall crevice. His eyes gazed at the mist as he reached out to touch it, only to find that the mist seemed nonexistent, impossible to perceive.
The mist was neither vapor nor smoke, and it was certainly not smog—truly a strange phenomenon.
"In the past, that deity changed the terrain for a hundred miles around to bury the Princess, so this Feng Shui Grand Array must cover at least a hundred miles. The Divine Being used supreme methods to gather all the Earth’s magnetic force within a hundred-mile radius to one place. No wonder even a Twelfth Tier expert would be helpless," Zhang Chen mused to himself.
"Boy, we’ve run into trouble!" The Fox Spirit turned to look at Zhang Chen.
Zhang Chen stared ponderously at the crevice; he was well aware that trouble had found them.
"What do we do now?" Zhang Chen’s eyes moved away from the crevice to look at the Fox Spirit.
The Fox Spirit scratched its head anxiously, "If it really comes down to it, the Old Ancestor might have to possess a rat and use its body to squeeze through, but I’m not sure if it can withstand the assault from the Earth’s Primordial Magnetism."
Zhang Chen was at a loss as well. Unless he prepared a large amount of gunpowder to blast a path through the hundred-meter greenstone crevice, all he could do was stare blankly.
"Go catch a rat, and bring it back quickly!" Zhang Chen’s eyes lit up; the Fox Spirit’s words had reminded him that he could use his Beast Taming skill.
His Beast Taming skill could control a radius of five hundred meters, which should be ample distance from here to the stone chamber.
Fox Fairy Nannan did not resist Zhang Chen’s directive, understanding that the creation within the tomb concerned both her benefits and Zhang Chen’s.
Fox Fairy Nannan transformed into smoke and departed, while Zhang Chen stood in the stone chamber, his eyes on the mist in the crevice. He watched as the mist slowly drifted out, enveloping the entire room in a breath, shrouding Zhang Chen within it.
"Indeed, the stone chamber is within the Feng Shui Grand Array’s coverage, so the Fox Race, despite their ability to traverse space, can’t easily sense the creation here." Zhang Chen stood still in the mist, his eyes glowing with a Golden Light. Inside the chamber, the mist vanished rapidly, pierced directly by the Golden Light, which ignored the mist’s presence entirely. It seemed as if there was no mist at all.
But when Zhang Chen withdrew the Golden Light from his eyes, the room instantly blurred, with countless mists reappearing.
"My Golden Light can see through the mist without being affected by it," Zhang Chen thought to himself in surprise. According to Fox Fairy Nannan, this array was at least a Twelfth Tier Feng Shui Grand Array, yet it couldn’t obscure his perception. Just what level of power was his Light of the True God?
Zhang Chen quietly stood within the mist for a moment, noticing that the Feng Shui Grand Array seemed unaware of any anomaly. Without external provocation, the mist slowly vanished, disappearing into thin air.
Even the mist in the crevice vanished!
However, Zhang Chen still detected a slight anomaly. Observing the stone wall closely in the dim light, he finally realized something was amiss. The wall seemed alive, breathing steadily. With each breath, faint smoke exuded from within the stone, though it barely lingered at the surface, so faint it was almost unnoticeable. Given the dim lighting, the mist’s color was identical to that of the chamber’s stone wall, making the change difficult to perceive without close inspection.
"The Feng Shui Grand Array is truly astonishing. The world is full of mysterious fates, paired with wondrous Dragon Vein powers. This world is becoming more intriguing!" Zhang Chen drew his gaze back from the wall and stood waiting, keeping an eye on the crevice, seeking an optimal point for a blast.
If he couldn’t retrieve the treasure with his methods, he’d have to resort to preparing a massive amount of gunpowder and choose to detonate it!
It wasn’t long before Fox Fairy Nannan came bustling in, clutching two rats. She approached the crevice and remarked to Zhang Chen, "Boy, you’d better treat the Old Ancestor well in the future! Look at how useful I am! Without the Old Ancestor, even if the treasure were right in front of you, you wouldn’t be able to retrieve it."
After finishing, the Little Fox gave a look of disdain to the gray rat, then tossed it to Zhang Chen, "Hold onto this rat!"
Zhang Chen didn’t mind. After years of hunting in the mountains, how could he disdain a rat? When the rat hit the ground, he nimbly pinned it with his foot.
"Be careful not to crush it."
Fox Fairy Nannan raised her eyebrows at Zhang Chen’s rough manner, her voice tinged with helpless admonishment.
"I know what I’m doing," Zhang Chen replied.
His reformed body allowed him precise control over his strength. He could clamp down on the rat firmly without crushing it to death on the ground.
Fox Fairy Nannan gave Zhang Chen a glance filled with skepticism but didn’t squabble over this minor matter. She placed the rat in the crevice, and in the next moment, her spirit transformed into a wisp of green mist, slipping into the rat’s body.
The rat struggled in pain, emitting a horrific screech. It twitched and convulsed on the ground, and after a few breaths, the rat suddenly dashed forward, charging into the mist.
