Chapter 32 The Source of Disaster

Su Xi and Wu Yufeng exchanged glances, their minds racing to devise a solution to the predicament before them.

It was evident that the Ice Snow Mad Spider was beyond their current capabilities. Not only was it a genuine Level Three demonic beast with formidable strength, but they also hadn't fully recovered their spiritual energy after their previous battles. Facing the Ice Snow Mad Spider head-on would inevitably lead to their deaths.

What to do?

Su Xi’s thoughts raced. Finally, she looked at Wu Yufeng and made a decision. "We can't possibly defeat this spider. Our only chance of survival is for you and me to split up and run."

"Alright, you go first," Wu Yufeng said, knowing that Su Xi couldn't fly, so he would stay to cover her escape.

Su Xi understood Wu Yufeng was telling the truth. If she stayed, she wouldn't survive, but Wu Yufeng might have a chance to escape. This wasn't a television drama where indecisiveness would only harm everyone involved. She turned and fled swiftly into the icy expanse behind them.

However, in her haste, she didn't notice that her escape route was leading her directly towards the towering snow-capped mountain.

"Roar~"

Seeing Su Xi flee, the Ice Snow Mad Spider let out an enraged roar. It detected a familiar scent on her, the scent of its mate, lost for many years, and thus, it refused to let Su Xi escape.

As a sword cultivator, Wu Yufeng, despite his spiritual energy being nearly depleted, retained the full power of his sword techniques. Under his obstruction, the Ice Snow Mad Spider was temporarily unable to pursue Su Xi. While Wu Yufeng's attacks couldn't injure it, they still caused it pain. After several attempts and realizing it couldn't shake off Wu Yufeng, the Ice Snow Mad Spider temporarily abandoned the pursuit of Su Xi. It knew it couldn't leave until Wu Yufeng was eliminated.

Wu Yufeng sensed the Ice Snow Mad Spider growing furious and knew that if he continued to delay, he wouldn't be able to escape. He immediately activated his life-bound flying sword and fled rapidly in another direction. As a sword cultivator, his flying speed was incredibly fast, and in the blink of an eye, only a faint streak of light could be seen in the distance.

Seeing this, the Ice Snow Mad Spider, enraged, slammed its two forelegs onto the ice, creating a massive crater. Knowing it couldn't match Wu Yufeng's speed, it changed direction and pursued Su Xi. Its primary desire was to kill Su Xi and avenge its mate.

In the vast, white expanse of snow and ice, Su Xi couldn't discern any direction. She could only use the towering mountain peak as a reference to avoid getting lost. Walking for a long distance, sinking deep into the snow with each step, she felt her entire body was about to fall apart.

"Sigh, I'm so tired," Su Xi could no longer endure and collapsed onto the ice, panting heavily. She didn't want to be exhausted to death before the Ice Snow Mad Spider even caught her.

"Crack!"

While resting, Su Xi suddenly heard the sound of ice and snow breaking in the distance. The sound was faint, but in this world of ice and snow, it was piercingly sharp. Su Xi immediately got up and looked vigilantly at the towering ice peak behind her. The sound seemed to be coming from above.

Just as Su Xi was observing what was happening on the mountain peak, she suddenly heard a scraping sound on the ice not far away, as if something was moving rapidly across the surface.

"This is bad," Su Xi realized instantly what was happening and ran forward without looking back. She mentally cursed the Ice Snow Mad Spider, wondering why it was chasing her instead of Wu Yufeng. Was it because she was pretty? Her question, however, would go unanswered. The Ice Snow Mad Spider behind her gave her no chance to inquire.

The Ice Snow Mad Spider moved with great speed across the ice, and upon seeing Su Xi's figure, it accelerated further, rapidly closing the distance between them.

"Pfft!"

Suddenly, the Ice Snow Mad Spider spat out crystalline silk from its abdomen. The silk soared into the air, spreading out and blocking every escape route for Su Xi. Each strand was coated with a viscous white liquid and exuded a foul odor. Su Xi knew the silk was highly poisonous; any contact would result in severe injury or death. Thus, she stopped abruptly for her safety.

After forcing Su Xi to stop, the Ice Snow Mad Spider’s silk began to shrink rapidly, preparing to ensnare her.

"Blazing Fire Talisman!"

Su Xi acted decisively, her talisman flying from her hand and towards the silk. She knew she absolutely could not be entangled by the silk, for if caught, even a celestial being couldn't save her.

"Boom~~"

The talisman landed on the silk and ignited instantly, burning it to ashes in the blink of an eye. Su Xi seized the opportunity and once again began to climb towards the mountain peak. She knew she couldn't defeat the Ice Snow Mad Spider, and the mountain behind her was her only chance of survival.

Seeing its silk destroyed, the Ice Snow Mad Spider grew even more enraged. It let out a roar and quickly pursued Su Xi. During the chase, it casually hurled ice chunks in front of it towards Su Xi, attempting to slow her down. However, Su Xi was agile, and despite the tricky angles of the ice projectiles, she dodged them all unharmed. Though she evaded the ice, her speed was consequently reduced.

The Ice Snow Mad Spider then leaped, positioning itself ahead of her and blocking her path.

"Damn it," Su Xi realized her plan had failed upon seeing the Ice Snow Mad Spider directly in front of her. Her only recourse was to take a gamble. The Ice Snow Mad Spider's patience had long been exhausted, and it had no intention of holding back. It spat silk from its abdomen once more, but this time it was pale blue, glinting like metal under the sun. Though fewer in number, it was more dangerous than before.

The moment Su Xi saw this silk, she knew it would be difficult to handle. She quickly dodged, leaping to the side.

Boom!

The silk plunged into the ice, causing a violent tremor and a massive hole. After steadying herself, Su Xi unhesitatingly pulled out her interstellar rifle. She had held back from using it until now, waiting for this very opportunity. She fired consecutive energy blasts, not at the Ice Snow Mad Spider, but at the ice peak behind it. Su Xi wasn't sure if her interstellar rifle could kill the Ice Snow Mad Spider; a stalemate would only put her in danger. Therefore, she had to resort to other means to eliminate this monster before her. The power of an avalanche was no joke.

Boom!

As the energy beams struck the ice mountain, they instantly generated intense fluctuations. The peak, burdened by countless layers of accumulated snow, suddenly collapsed. During its descent, it began to snowball, growing larger and larger.

Hearing the commotion behind it, the Ice Snow Mad Spider's eyes widened with fear, and it immediately bolted. While it wanted to kill Su Xi, it didn't want to die here. It couldn't withstand the destructive force of half a mountain collapsing.
