Chapter 478 - 467: Fierce Ghost

Chapter 478: Chapter 467: Fierce Ghost

"My child, where is my child?" Song Jin woke up feeling that something was wrong, hollering as if she’d gone mad.

"Miss Song, your condition is not very stable right now, please try to calm down," the nurse hurriedly advised her, "You can still have children, please don’t be like this."

"Calm? How do you expect me to stay calm? Where is Chu Cheng, where is my husband?" She yanked out the IV, in a very bad state.

"You and your husband are suspected of murder. Chu Cheng has been taken back to the police station. Miss Song, if I were you, I would focus on getting well right now." A formidable-looking policewoman walked into the room, looking at Song Jin with a smirk that was not quite a smile.

Seeing the newcomer, the nurse let out a sigh of relief: "Officer Zhou, you’re here. Please, try to talk some sense into Miss Song."

"What did you say?" Song Jin stared at Officer Zhou upon hearing her words.

"Miss Song, if you insist on leaving the hospital, I will have to take you back to the police station," said Officer Zhou.

"We did not kill anyone," Song Jin said firmly, gritting her teeth.

"That can only be determined after the investigation is complete."

Ling Xiao’s investigation had also reached a deadlock. Divine Woman Liu had sustained severe internal injuries before being hit by tables and chairs. There was no clear evidence that it was indeed Chu Cheng and Song Jin who laid hands on her. As for the car accident three months ago that took Ye Qiu’s life, he also found no evidence suggesting Chu Cheng was involved. If no further leads were found, they would have to release Chu Cheng in just over a dozen hours.

He had never felt such hatred; he knew damn well that Ye Qiu’s death was linked to Chu Cheng, yet he could do nothing to him.

If there really were ghosts in this world, he wished that Ye Qiu could appear and explain the truth to him.

As time ticked by, Chu Cheng’s patience ran out. He looked at his watch, stood up when the minute hand pointed to a certain time, and said to Ling Xiao, "Officer, may I leave now?"

Ling Xiao’s expression was grim: "Please do, but since the person died in your house, we may need your cooperation at any time. Please don’t go far during this period."

Chu Cheng, who had gotten over his panic and now had a lawyer by his side, was not afraid of Ling Xiao at all. He sneered, "Of course, I am a law-abiding good citizen. By the way, I heard that my son is still with you. When can I take him away?"

"Mr. Chu, better wait for notification from the community," Ling Xiao said, his complexion poor.

Chu Cheng looked back calmly: "Then I’ll wait. I hope Officer Ling won’t break the law knowing the law, after all, you were once my wife’s sworn brother. I hope I don’t have to resort to the law."

Watching Chu Cheng leave arrogantly with his lawyer, Ling Xiao’s subordinate said indignantly: "Captain, are we really powerless? Xiao Ran can’t be handed over to him; that man is a scumbag."

Ling Xiao hammered the table hard: "Of course I know he’s not a good person, but what can we do without evidence?"

After leaving the police station, Chu Cheng returned to the hospital. The police officer guarding Song Jin had also left; the two looked at each other for a long time without a word.

"What should we do now?" After a silence, it was Chu Cheng who spoke first.

"I must rid us of Ye Qiu," Song Jin said viciously, "I want to avenge my child."

"But now that Divine Woman Liu is dead, how do we take revenge?" Chu Cheng’s complexion was not good, and he was faintly afraid. After all, this was his first time seeing a ghost, especially since Ye Qiu was someone he had plotted against. He knew well that unless Ye Qiu vanished completely, she would surely come back to seek revenge on him.

"Wasn’t Ye Qiu most concerned about her child?" Song Jin said, revealing a sinister smile.

Chu Cheng stood up in an instant, "What are you thinking? Xiao Ran is just a child, he is innocent!"

"Innocent?" Song Jin laughed coldly, her tone piercing as she shouted, "Was my child not innocent? He died before he could even see this world! Chu Cheng, do you not have a heart?"

"But Xiao Ran is also my child, I will never agree to it!" Chu Cheng frowned, his expression ugly.

"What do you think I want to do?" Song Jin’s expression was unfathomable, "I merely want to lure Ye Qiu out using Xiao Ran. Aren’t you afraid that one day Ye Qiu will come for us? It’s either her death or our downfall; think for yourself whether you want to save your own life or preserve Xiao Ran’s innocence."

"Are you serious? You promise not to harm Xiao Ran?" Chu Cheng hesitated for a moment, ultimately valuing his own life more.

Song Jin snorted derisively, avoiding a direct answer: "You first go to Ci Yun Temple and find Master Hui Guang, tell him that Ye Qiu has become a Fierce Ghost, and her hands are stained with blood. If he still refuses to intervene, ask him to recommend a reliable Monk or Taoist who can capture ghosts. Directly ask him whether he intends to stand by and watch people die, whether monks still possess compassion in their hearts."

"I understand, you rest well, I’m heading there right now." Chu Cheng sighed, his back bent as if bearing a heavy load, sitting in the car, he couldn’t understand how things had come to this, but it was too late to turn back. One wrong step led to another, and there was no turning back.

"I still can’t escape it," he sighed.

"Master, what did you say?" Zhi Xin walked in and asked, puzzled by the sorrow on Hui Guang’s face.

"Zhi Xin, if one day your master is no more, you must continue your cultivation diligently," Hui Guang said, putting down his Buddha Beads with a sigh.

"Master, what have you foreseen?" Zhi Xin grew anxious, "Your cultivation is so advanced, who could harm you? Besides, didn’t you say that you wouldn’t leave the monastery in this life? There’s no danger in this monastery; surely you will live to a ripe old age."

"That won’t do. We monks cannot turn a blind eye to death; that goes against Buddhist principles," Hui Guang sighed, appearing to have seen through the cycle of life and death.

"Disciple doesn’t understand these Buddhist principles, but Disciple doesn’t want anything to happen to you," Zhi Xin insisted urgently, "And didn’t you agree with Taoist Lin Shen that you wouldn’t leave the monastery in this life? Wouldn’t you be breaking your promise by doing so?"

"That was because Brother Lin Shen foresaw that I was bound to face a calamity, but your master cannot just hide away because of that," he replied.

"Master, isn’t your life the most important thing?"

"There’s much that you do not understand. Zhi Xin, don’t be so disheartened. Brother Lin Shen only said my current tribulation is dangerous, he didn’t say it was unavoidable," Hui Guang tried to reassure him.

Hearing this, Zhi Xin regained some hope, wiping away tears, "Right, Master is so powerful, nothing will happen to you."

But Master Hui Guang’s worries weren’t completely allayed; instead, he started reciting scriptures while gazing at Buddha.

Shortly after speaking these words with Zhi Xin, Chu Cheng entered the temple gates.

"Master."

"I know your purpose, I will go with you," Hui Guang said.

Chu Cheng was surprised by Master Hui Guang’s forthrightness this time but then felt relieved, "Thank you, Master! If things work out, I will certainly make a generous donation to your temple."
