Chapter 627: Chapter 627: Just a Little Jealous
The movie ended, the lights came on, and she finally opened her eyes, the brightness piercing, finally waking her up a little as she yawned.
As soon as she opened her eyes, ready to stand up, she saw Junjun watching her thoughtfully: “Mom, you slept through the entire movie.”
Du Shaoheng: “Maybe she’s too busy with work, and it’s worn her out.”
Junjun said, “Mom, let’s go home early so you can rest.”
Li Yufei: “We need to have dinner, right?”
She looked at Du Shaoheng and asked, “Do you have any plans for the evening, would you like to have dinner together?”
Du Shaoheng gladly agreed, “Sure.”
He made a phone call and booked a restaurant.
Li Yufei said, “Ride with me.”
Du Shaoheng nodded.
Li Yufei drove to the restaurant, and just as she parked the car, Du Shaoheng’s phone rang.
He took out his phone, saw it was Guan Yue calling, and immediately answered: “Hello?”
Guan Yue: “Husband, I’m done with my beauty treatment, are you coming to pick me up?”
Du Shaoheng: “I didn’t drive, have the driver pick you up.”
Guan Yue said, “Oh! Where are you? Are you with Xixi?”
Du Shaoheng: “Xixi and I just finished watching a movie.”
Guan Yue: “When are you going home?”
Du Shaoheng: “I plan to take Xixi…”
He paused and looked at Li Yufei: “And Yufei and Junjun, to have dinner together before heading home.”
Upon hearing this, Guan Yue’s tone subtly changed: “You’re with Yufei?”
Du Shaoheng: “Yes. I scheduled today to accompany the two kids for a movie.”
Guan Yue: “Why didn’t you invite me along?”
Du Shaoheng sensed her somewhat unhappy tone, holding the phone as he walked to the side, “Are you upset?”
Guan Yue pretended to be calm: “No, I’m just surprised. You said you were taking Xixi to the movies. I thought it was just you and Xixi. I didn’t expect Yufei and Junjun to be there too. If I’d known, I would have joined.”
Du Shaoheng couldn’t help but laugh: “Is there a difference between us watching as two or watching with Yufei and Junjun as four?”
Guan Yue: “Of course there is… if Yufei and Junjun are also going, I can’t be absent!”
Du Shaoheng: “It’s unnecessary to be so deliberate! The more you act deliberately, the more it makes Yufei overthink. She’s always been cautious about our relationship, and that’s enough distance. You don’t need to be so uneasy.”
Guan Yue: “It’s not that I’m uneasy… it’s just…”
She couldn’t quite express this feeling.
She trusted that between Du Shaoheng and Li Yufei there was nothing improper, and she believed the vows Du Shaoheng made to her, believing in his character that he would never secretly have lingering ties with Li Yufei.
She trusted.
But she also had possessiveness over Du Shaoheng.
Just imagining, when she’s not around, Du Shaoheng and Li Yufei accompanying the two children to the movies, it looked so much like a family of four.
Women are always prone to letting their thoughts run wild, and she felt uneasy if she wasn’t there and Du Shaoheng and Li Yufei were alone together, though she couldn’t exactly say why.
Perhaps it’s simply a bout of jealousy!
Du Shaoheng said: “Yufei and I… it’s because of Junjun, we…”
Guan Yue said: “I know, you don’t need to explain deliberately. The more you explain, the more deliberate it seems.”
Du Shaoheng was running out of patience.
For so long, he’d been cautiously careful, but Guan Yue was always prone to making a fuss over such matters and being a bit capricious.
Once or twice, he had the patience to soothe her, but over time, he inevitably felt exhausted.
Du Shaoheng: “Wife, there has to be a limit to this unreasonable behavior. Yufei and I merely accompanied two kids to see a movie, you don’t need to imagine things that don’t exist.”
Guan Yue: “I believe that nothing will happen between you and her…”
Du Shaoheng: “It’s good if you think that way!”
Guan Yue: “But I don’t trust her not to have inappropriate thoughts about you! I trust you, but I can’t necessarily trust her…”
Li Yufei gave Guan Yue a strange feeling.
She could sense that Li Yufei really loved Du Shaoheng.
But loving a man so much, how could she always restrain herself so well in front of her.
Everyone has their nature.
Love is nature; hatred is also nature.
No matter how remarkable Li Yufei is, she’s still a person, a woman. Women are emotional; how can she be so rational, controlling her feelings and affection so well? Loving a man so deeply but restraining that emotion to simply be ordinary friends?
Guan Yue tried to put herself in Li Yufei’s shoes, contemplating how she’d act if she were in Li Yufei’s place. If it were her, she’d either not meet him, or she wouldn’t be able to control her love in front of Du Shaoheng!
Therefore, she inevitably had to suspect Li Yufei’s true motives!
No matter how Li Yufei proved herself through actions, that seed of doubt had quietly sprouted and taken root in her heart!
However, all this time, Guan Yue had managed to hold herself together, pretending to be generous, but if Du Shaoheng and Li Yufei spent time privately, she’d still be sensitive about it.
Du Shaoheng, reaching the end of his patience, said: “Let’s leave it at that!”
With that, he hung up the phone.
Li Yufei gave him a glance, noticed his expression wasn’t great, so she walked over and said: “Was that your wife on the phone?”
Du Shaoheng thought she heard something: “Yes… she…”
Li Yufei said: “Was she urging you to go home for dinner?”
Du Shaoheng didn’t say anything for a moment.
Li Yufei understood: “Go back then! Don’t make her worry too much. As for dinner, there’s always another opportunity.”
Although she hadn’t heard the content of the conversation between Du Shaoheng and Guan Yue, she could more or less guess.
Du Shaoheng said: “But I already booked the restaurant.”
Li Yufei: “Hmm, Junjun and I can have dinner and then go home.”
Du Shaoheng didn’t insist: “Put this one on my tab.”
Li Yufei didn’t refuse: “Okay.”
Du Shaoheng looked at his daughter and whispered: “Xixi, we’re going home now.”
Xixi, upon hearing, hesitated: “Didn’t we agree to have dinner together?”
She was hungry, and she also wanted to dine with Junjun, so hearing they were going home made her reluctant.
Du Shaoheng said: “Mom is waiting for us to have dinner at home.”
Upon hearing this, Xixi obediently nodded, walked over to hold Du Shaoheng’s hand, and said to Li Yufei and Junjun, “Goodbye Aunt Yufei! Goodbye brother!”
Li Yufei smiled and waved at Xixi.
Du Shaoheng hailed a cab, carried Xixi into the car.
The car door closed.
Junjun watched the car leave, then slowly said: “Is Xixi’s mother very against you and dad meeting alone?”
Li Yufei smiled gently, glanced at him: “Being worried and insecure, it’s human nature, isn’t it?”
