Just as Finn was lost in thought, a familiar scream cut through the air.

"Aaah!!"

From the nearby bushes, a scream that Finn instantly recognized echoed. The group’s attention immediately snapped to the source of the sound.

"That voice..." Erza said, surprised.

"Sounds like little Levy," Finn said, moving towards the bushes.

Pushing aside the tangled vegetation, they found Levy, injured and on the ground.

"Levy!!" They gasped, rushing to her side and helping her up.

"Levy, what happened?" Finn asked softly.

"Levy’s... badly hurt," Nancy whispered, her eyes wide with shock.

Levy slowly opened her eyes, a smile spreading across her face as she saw their worried expressions.

"It’s... it’s you, Finn-san... Erza-san... and Nancy..." she managed to say, her voice weak and strained.

"It’s terrible, Gajeel..." Levy grasped Finn’s hand.

A few minutes earlier...

After evading several beast attacks, Levy and Gajeel realized they were hopelessly lost. Frustration gnawed at them.

As they tried to decide which way to go, two figures suddenly emerged from the shadows and attacked.

Luckily, Gajeel was on guard and managed to deflect their initial assault. They saw their attackers: a chicken-like creature and a dog-like creature. These were clearly magical beasts, but possessing higher intelligence than most, almost human-like.

Recognizing the insignia on their armor, Levy realized who they were: members of the Balam Alliance’s dark guild—Devil’s Heart! Aside from Tartaros, Devil’s Heart was considered one of the strongest dark guilds.

Their opponents were incredibly strong. Already injured from the first trial, Levy and Gajeel were quickly overwhelmed. The dog-headed creature’s word-based attacks pierced even Gajeel’s iron dragon scales. Combined with the chicken-like creature’s egg blasts, their injuries worsened.

Learning from their opponents that a main force was still approaching, Gajeel understood the gravity of the situation. Seeing Levy’s worsening injuries, he made a decision.

"Levy, you run! This isn’t a simple fight; it’s far more serious than we imagined."

"But, how can I..." Levy tried to protest, but Gajeel’s serious tone stopped her.

"We have to tell Finn and everyone!"

His gaze locked on the two figures.

"I’ll handle these two!"

He charged, blocking the chicken and dog creatures.

Levy bit her lip. She knew Gajeel was right. Devil’s Heart’s attack had to be reported.

She nodded, leaving behind a large piece of iron using her last magic.

"Don’t die, Gajeel," she whispered.

...

Meanwhile, seeing Gajeel down, the dog-headed creature sensed victory. It gripped its sword.

"Dark Sword, Piercing!"

The sword sliced towards Gajeel with terrifying force.

But the next moment, the dog creature’s eyes widened.

"You caught my blade?" it said, confused.

Gajeel’s iron-scaled hand gripped the sword. He stood up.

"Just like then..." he murmured, his gaze distant.

He was remembering the time after the Phantom Lord and Fairy Tail war. Phantom Lord was disbanded; its members joined other guilds. Gajeel, the one who’d destroyed Fairy Tail, had nowhere to go.

From heaven to hell—that was Gajeel’s reality. He went from revered to a wandering mage.

One day, Makarov found him. He invited Gajeel to join Fairy Tail.

Gajeel was shocked. "I... I destroyed your guild."

Makarov was unfazed. "I’ve moved on from that."

"And... I hurt your members."

BOOM!

A terrifying pressure descended.

"I can’t forgive you, no matter your reasons!" Makarov said sternly.

But then his tone softened.

"But to ignore a young man falling into darkness... I couldn’t forgive myself."

Gajeel was stunned. How long had it been? Besides Metalicana, no one had cared about him.

Makarov extended his hand. "I’m not saving you, but guiding you to the future!"

"Forward or backward, you decide!"

Gajeel reached out, showing a vulnerability he’d never shown before, grasping Makarov’s hand.

From that day, his loneliness lessened. He wasn’t cold-blooded. With Finn’s leadership, Fairy Tail accepted him. He felt warmth, the warmth of the guild.

The dog creature’s sword bent in Gajeel’s hand.

"My blade, my soul!" the creature gasped.

"Dare to oppose Fairy Tail, and be prepared to be crushed! You scum!" Gajeel roared, his face contorted in rage.

"I’m a Fairy Tail mage!!!"

His defiant roar was like a true dragon’s. The sword snapped.

"Iron Dragon’s Roar!" Iron-laced breath blasted towards the dog creature.

"Aaah!" The creature was torn by the iron shards.

The chicken creature tilted its head, "Whoosh whoosh whoosh—" Numerous eggs flew out.
