Chapter 331: Chapter 332: Powerful Strange Lizard
"This thing... it’s so strange!" Vade frowned, looking at the peculiar giant lizard in the plaza below, feeling a sense of oddity.
"They’re over there. Huh, Dalt is there too? Wasn’t he researching Project 01?" Otto pointed to the right, a confused expression on his face.
Not far from them, there was a section of the passage without glass, only a railing. At the end of the passage was a room with a metal lower half and a glass upper half, through which seven or eight people could be clearly seen.
Among them was a middle-aged man with spiky black hair, wearing a white lab coat with a strange beast embroidered on the chest. He was intensely operating something—it was indeed Aeridar’s chief scientist, Switch Dalt.
However, there were also two familiar figures in the room: one was a burly man with white hair, a cross-shaped scar on his left cheek, a katana hanging at his waist, and several long, narrow scars across his bare chest. The other was a lean, dark-skinned man with his left eye covered by a black eyepatch, a flintlock pistol and a half-meter-long pointed knife tucked into his waistband.
These two were none other than the captain and first mate of the White Mane Pirates: White Mane Swordsman Gerald Enrod and Black Ghost Morris Galan.
Just as Aeridar was about to go over.
Clank~ Clatter~
Suddenly, the metal walls on the four sides of the plaza below split open, revealing three large gates on each side. The opening of the gates startled the strange lizard. Its scales tensed, its tail gently swayed, and its tongue flickered out of its mouth, warily surveying its surroundings.
Roar~
Hiss~
Dull growls and strange sounds echoed. From each of the four gates, a gigantic figure emerged.
A large tiger with yellow and black stripes, nearly ten meters long including its tail. A large brown-furred lion, slightly bigger than the tiger. A black gorilla, seven or eight meters tall, its thick arms almost dragging on the ground. And a giant python, over thirty meters long and nearly a meter thick, coiling and winding, with golden and white scales covering its body.
"Project 03’s experiment has begun!" Otto stated gravely.
"Let’s watch first."
Aeridar raised an eyebrow and stepped forward, intently observing what was happening below. As for Vade, he was already pressed against the glass, gazing down.
Clank~ Clatter~
The gates closed, reverting to metal walls. Now, in the plaza below, five fierce beasts were gathered. However, the other four beasts that had been released surrounded the strange lizard in the center, seemingly wary of it.
Hiss!
The strange lizard turned around, looking at the four beasts encircling it. It surprisingly let out a peculiar hiss at the large tiger first, then directly pounced.
The strange lizard’s movement startled the other four beasts. They hadn’t expected that even with four against one, their opponent would dare to attack first.
The strange lizard propelled itself with its four legs, moving as swiftly as lightning. In the blink of an eye, it lunged onto the large tiger, simply and decisively biting into its neck.
Splurt~
A large gush of blood dripped.
Thud~
The large tiger swayed a few times and then collapsed on the spot. The strange lizard’s mouth was covered in blood, having bitten off more than half of the tiger’s neck.
Seeing the formidable tiger taken down in a single blow, Aeridar was startled. This creature was too powerful.
The strange lizard took down the large tiger with one strike, which snapped the remaining three beasts out of their shock. They immediately lunged at it together.
The strange lizard, whatever its origin, moved like a startled rabbit. Its ten-meter-long body flickered, easily dodging the combined pounces of the three beasts. The next moment, the strange lizard’s body, which had darted to the side, began to fade, disappearing within one or two breaths.
"Is that... invisibility?" Vade frowned first, then blurted out, "No, it must be the chameleon’s camouflage!"
The remaining three beasts weren’t very intelligent, and their opponent’s sudden disappearance left them bewildered. Their minds took a while to process what happened.
Pfft~
Suddenly, a dark purple venom appeared in thin air, landing on the large lion’s back.
Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle!
The dark purple venom, like sulfuric acid, instantly corroded the lion’s fur, and black smoke billowed upwards.
Roar! Roar! Roar!
The large lion roared in pain, its four legs gave out, and it collapsed to the ground, thrashing and convulsing. After a short while, the lion’s struggles subsided, and it completely lost consciousness, though its body still occasionally twitched. Its entire body had turned black and purple, as if poisoned, and its back was completely corroded, with even some internal organs damaged.
"Such potent poison!" Vade’s eyelids twitched, feeling a chill down his spine.
Thump!
The golden giant python’s tail suddenly struck an empty spot, precisely where the venom had appeared. The immense force caused the metal floor to dent. But it was clearly useless; it hadn’t hit anything.
Awoooo, woah, woah...
The black gorilla pounded its chest, letting out roars.
Splatter~
Before the gorilla could finish roaring, half of its head was gone, as if bitten off by something. Red blood and white brain matter splattered across the floor.
Hiss...
The golden giant python flicked its tongue, hissing softly as it searched for its opponent. It felt an immense danger. In just a few minutes, it was the only one left. If there were anywhere to run, it would have fled already.
"What kind of monster is that thing? It has tactics! It actually knows to eliminate the weaker ones first," Vade gasped, his voice tight. Because once this thirty-meter-long giant python coiled around and crushed its prey, no one could withstand that power. It was the greatest threat among the four beasts.
At this moment, not far away, the strange lizard’s figure reappeared. Its ’invisibility’ faded, and it emerged from thin air like a ghost, a truly unsettling sight.
"It’s actively revealing itself? Is the camouflage time-limited, or for some other reason?" Vade’s brow furrowed into a deep ’川’ shape.
Although he was an expert in mechanics and physics, he often built humanoid and beast-like robots, so he had made an effort to understand human and animal anatomy, specifically studying biology. He knew quite a bit about various creatures’ habits, but he had never seen a monster like this.
Hiss~
Hiss~
The strange lizard and the golden giant python faced each other, exchanging low growls, attempting to intimidate and threaten one another.
Whoosh~
After a standoff, the strange lizard seemed to lose patience and launched the first attack. Its four legs propelled its slender body, built with seemingly perfect golden ratio, forward like an arrow. In the blink of an eye, it was in front of the golden giant python.
Hiss!
The golden giant python rotated its massive body, its golden and white tail generating powerful winds as it slammed heavily towards the strange lizard.
Thump! A heavy thud echoed, and the entire plaza vibrated. The metal floor dented again, but the strange lizard had dodged it.
