Chapter 35: No Rest For The Wicked[1]
Wolves and Tigers were busy picking up the corpses of their fallen comrades. Bodies were being dragged across the crimson snow.
Kayla alongside Alice were overseeing the work, it had been three days and the cleanup hadn’t been done.
"Kayla dear, why don’t you go back and rest." Alice said as she grabbed Kayla’s hands. "You still haven’t recovered fully."
Kayla looked at her and grinned, "I can’t possibly leave you among these ruffians my favorite aunty."
Alice chuckled at her response and nodded. She didn’t like pressuring people so she agreed with Kayla.
Rain was seen in the distance picking up runes all by himself, Alice had always seen him as peculiar. But he was not bad, one of the better humans she had met.
The others being Maria, Xior and Becca. Not far away Tharnak held Fenra’s hands, as he helped her with walking.
A day after the war ended, she woke up from her coma, Kayla and Tharnak were overjoyed. She left Kayla when she was only a child, but now after twenty years she has become a great warrior.
Fenra was proud of her daughter and of her husband who pushed forward despite him hurting a lot.
"Come on, my love you can do it." Tharnak said, his hands held Fenra’s hands. "Just a few more steps."
"Don’t try to motivate me my foolish husband, I would like to get used to this at my own pace." Fenra stopped and looked towards Tharnak. "I can’t risk going back into a coma."
Tharnak looked down at the ground when he heard her talk about coma, those twenty years were too damn long and he wouldn’t want his wife to be away from him.
He smiled and lowered his head, his face almost touching Fenra’s. Their breath could be felt by the other as Tharnak kissed her, to which she reciprocated as well.
"WHAT THE FUCK, DAD!" Kayla shouted from the distance as Alice burst into laughing.
*****
It was noon but Xior and Becca were still asleep. Last night both had been watching a movie in his room and now it was the next day, neither had come down.
Rain had come back with an inventory full of different runes, he found some skill runes as well which he wanted to give to Becca.
He made his way towards her room only to find it unlocked and the door slightly open with no sign of Becca anywhere.
As he turned to leave, from the opposite side both Xior and Becca came out of Xior’s room. Their hair was messy.
Rain’s unamused face quickly turned into one of a fangirl after she finds out her two favorite celebrities slept together.
Cough!Cough!
Rain coughed to bring their attention towards him, both of them were startled by his voice and jumped back.
"I don’t mind this at all, but please tell me you both used protection?" Rain asked in a serious tone. "I don’t want my best hunters be more busy than they are."
His question shocked them so much that their eyes almost popped out of their head. Then they looked at each other and it clicked.
"Nothing happened for fucks sake, Rain. You’re just like Maria when it comes to teasing." Becca blurted out. "I think I will ask her to tease you in return."
"Please don’t, it’s not that I hate all that. I’d rather focus on clearing this floor first. Rest can come later." Rain replied.
He then took a few runes out of his pocked and handed them to both Xior and Becca. They were elemental runes and stat runes.
The trio made their way down and ate breakfast with everyone, the Dragon Guild felt more like one happy big family rather than a Hunter Guild.
And it was all because of it’s Guildmaster and Vice-Guildmaster. Both had seen what happened during the fall and decided to create a place for hunters where they have fun and are refreshed always.

Becca and Xior exited the Tower and returned to Earth. The smell of Earth was so different despite the area they were in being a ruined city of the old times.
They took public transport and arrived in New Federation, and went towards the Dragon Guild building.
Before they could do what they wanted to do, Xior and Becca had some runes to sell. Xior shocked the receptionist with the sheer amount of runes he still had.
After that they walked around the city, looking at "House For Sale" signs, but all of the ones they saw were weird looking and not enough for 24 people.
"All of these are either way too big or way too small." Becca exclaimed. "Can’t they make a decent sized house which we can buy and be done with this..."
"Let’s eat first before continuing Becca. I’m hungry." Xior said as he started walking towards the burger joint he spotted.
Becca looked at him and then ran after him, "of course you wanna eat a burger."
Xior ignored her and walked straight into the building, Becca stood outside waiting for him. After a few minutes he came out with two bags in hand.
He gave one to Becca and they sat on a nearby bench to eat it. Xior was too busy in eating but Becca continuously looked at him, despite everything his love for burgers hadn’t gone away.
It reminded her of when they were fifteen and how they both would eat one burger together. And now they can afford thousands of burgers easily.
The sun started to set as they set out on their journey again, they walked around more and looked at different houses.
They felt defeated and wanted to go back and rest but fate had something else decided for them. Xior spotted a house which was older than its surroundings, vines grew on the walls of it.
He looked at it and understood, what he wanted was finally in front of his eyes. "Becca I think I’ve found what we are looking for." Xior said as he pointed towards the house in the distance.
