Chapter 44: Clash Of Fang and Flame[2]
Tharnak was on top of Rheagor as he clawed his way through his tough scales. Pieces of the scales flew in the air as Tharnak’s assault continued.
Every time Rheagor came to his senses, Tharnak would punch his face leaving him in more pain.
Rheagor’s face was a bloody mess, his right horn was broken from the edge and was chipped all over, his teeth were broken and his eyes seemed to not open as they were swollen.
Tharnak wasn’t going to stop, if not for him and his father this whole conflict could’ve been avoided, his daughter wouldn’t have to be on death’s door a few days ago.
He was fighting as the Chief of the Wolf Tribe but right now he was just a simple man, a father and a husband.
Tharnak left deep gnashes on Rheagor’s chest, the latter trying hard to make the onslaught stop.
He tried to grab Tharnak but Tharnak grabbed his arms and channelled his mana activating his runes, ice formed on his hands as it covered the arms of Rheagor.
He bellowed in pain like a madman, everyone looked at the brutality of Tharnak as he ripped apart his chest.
This was a warning for the Dragon Chief, and a declaration as well. They dared to put their hands on his family. He’d make them pay.
Rheagor looked at Tharnak from his swollen eyes, he saw anger in the mans eyes and to safe himself he would have to transform.
His body shifted and he transformed into a giant dragon. Tharnak jumped away and wiped the blood on his hands.
Rheagor’s wounds were still open but he opened his mouth and screeched. Tharank conjured an ice spear and threw it towards Rheagor’s chest.
It hit and got stuck on his chest, Rheagor took a deep breath in and as smoke came out of his mouth a massive stream of fire rained dow on the people, he didn’t care if his own soldiers were caught in the crossfire.
Xior left them fighting and ran towards the Dragon Chief who watched the battle from the end.
But suddenly his vision distorted, someone was interfering with him. He instinctively blocked a dagger and jumped back.
He opened his eyes but the distortion was still there. Are the demons finally showing themselves? He thought as he evaded another strike aiming for his heart.
He kept his eyes closed and used his sharpened senses to their max and raised his arm on the right and grabbed a shadowy figure by its neck.
As the illusion died down, he saw a demon in his grip. A short red skinned demon, who is strong enough to use void runes.
"Are you Dantalion’s subordinate?" Xior asked as he looked into the demons eyes.
It struggled to make Xior let go but soon he started choking, "y-yes I...am." It replied.
Xior pressed hard with all his strength and the demon’s neck exploded. The other demons who had stopped attacking him showed themselves as well.
In total there were four, now only three left. Each was of a different color, green, grey and silver.
Xior grabbed the sword and blocked the attacks from each of them and slid under a fireball from one of them.
On one side Rheagor was burning everything in his path, on the other Becca and the Tribe Chiefs were clearing the dragons.
This was far from optimal, with them missing Rain and Beatrice they were at a disadvantage. The more this was prolonged the less would be their chances of winning.
He swung his sword and shot out fire arrows consecutively, the demons dodged and ran at him.
Are these higher ranked than Andromalius and his generals? He thought to himself as he blocked their strikes.
That would mean the 1st demon king, Agares would be insanely powerful that his generals could match the 2nd demon king and the others in strength.
He researched about the demon kings when he got out of the Abyss, and read the book of King Solomon where they were mentioned.
As he was busy with the demons, Becca and Alice broke from their group and came to Xior. Both pierced one demon and let Xior finish the last one.
No words had to be said, they knew what they had to do, and it was to stop Rheagor’s rampage. He had already taken the war in his favor.

Tharnak kept throwing ice spears at the dragon floating in the air and spewing fire at the tribesmen below.
The cries of wolves, tigers and other tribesmen while they burned to death filled his surroundings. But he never stopped, he helped whoever he could help.
He grabbed another spear and was about to hurl it at Rheagor when he saw someone shoot towards Rheagor.
It was none other than Xior, who jumped towards the dragon with no weapon in hand. As he flew towards him, Rheagor took notice and diverted the fire towards Xior.
Xior quickly activated his runes and a thick layer of ice covered him. As it melt Xior was in position. He twisted his body mid air, stretching out his hand and punched the top of Rheagor’s head with his full force.
A violent gust of wind blew Xior upwards as Rheagor’s balance gave out and he started falling.
Elemental runes allowed the user to use the element form anywhere on their body as long as they were at the mastery level of freely controlling the element.
Fire erupted from Xior’s boots boosting his speed and pulled back his arm and punched the same area again.
Rheagor screamed as he fell down with a loud thud. Xior didn’t stop there, he crash landed onto the twitching body of Rheagor.
When the dust settled, Rheagor had reverted back to his normal form. His horns were broken and a huge bump was on his head. He was unmoving but breathing.
As Xior dusted his clothes he looked at the Dragon Chief who got up from his platform, he signaled the Chiefs as they gathered together to face their final foe in the war.
Both sides had experienced a lot of losses but this was going to decide who will win the war. Tharnak ran forward first followed by Xior and the other Chiefs towards the still standing Dragon Chief.
