Chapter 50: Hunter Of The Nameless

Chapter 50: Hunter Of The Nameless

Xior stood up straight, under his feet were the ashes of the Nameless, his body was on the verge of breaking down. His white hair was red along with the last angel wing remaining on his back.

Becca and the Chiefs looked at him from the distance as they slowly walked towards him, he was not moving and the worst thoughts came to their minds.

Then Xior’s right arm twitched and he slowly raised it in the air, a sign of victory and of the fact that he was alive though in a very bad condition.

In front of him the system screen popped up once again.

[You have performed a feat no humans has performed. You have slain a Nameless, your name has been added to the hall of fame and your title is [Hunter Of The Nameless]

As he was reading the system message his legs gave out and he fell towards the ground not before Alice and Becca caught him.

They lay him on the ground softly, his barely open eyes looked at the two women and then at the other Chiefs along with Rain who had gathered around him.

"Is it still alive?" The Fox Chief questioned and chuckled.

The other Chiefs glared at him but then they heard a small chuckle. Xior’s mouth was curled up into a smile as he chuckled at the question.

Becca’s eyes widened and tears formed but she prevented them to fall, she had yearned for that laugh for the past ten years and a fox managed to do it with a single question.

No, it was not the fox. After coming back from the Abyss, Xior had changed significantly. He was pessimistic about life and wanted to die so he could be with his parents.

But now he wanted to live, just one more day. So that he could be an amazing pillar of strength and support to others.

"Somehow." Xior replied to the Fox Chiefs question.

The Chiefs burst out into laughter as well, this a happy moment for them. The Dragon Tribe was finally defeated.

Xior’s body began healing back as the angel wing fell off his back indicating Uriel cancelled her descent and direct message from Uriel popped up in front of him.

[Sorry for leaving so sudden :) I had something come up. We’ll talk later about other things.]

Xior still didn’t understand the reason behind Uriel’s help, he was too out of his mind when he accepted her help.

He got up and looked at the horizon as the sun was about to set, the bloodied snow with corpses piled up came into his view.

This had been a bloody and brutal war, one that would never be forgotten and the tales of which will be passed down to generations.

"The tentacles and other matter dropped from the Nameless should be given to me at the very least." Xior voiced his concern.

The Chiefs smiled and nodded, they agreed on Xior getting the tentacles of the Nameless despite all of them wanting to take a piece as a war trophy.

*****

Xior walked slowly towards Rhogar was lay on the ground as he bled, he was alive but he didn’t bother moving. He had accepted his fate.

Xior went to his knees and sat besides him, as if he wanted to talk. "Were you being forced to do what you did?" Xoir’s voice came wrecking the defense he had prepared.

He was shocked as to how a human saw through him. That his bad guy persona was never really what he wanted.

He wanted to cry but no muscles of his body wanted to move, he lay there as he sobbed quietly.

"Rhogar, it isn’t late right now. Tell me who forced you?" Xior asked once again.

"Nam-eless..." Only one word came out.

It was enough for Xior’s anger to increase, just what did these Nameless wanted? They resided on the floors after 80 and they were meddling with the affairs of the lower floors.

Rhogar felt despair and his will to fight diminished along with his body on the verge of death.

A system screen popped up in front of every human present.

[The Dragon has lost its will to fight, the clear conditions of floor 10 will be revealed now]

[Floor 10 - Fire and Frost]

Two people have to take a dragon heart and one a scale of a dragon to the top of the highest peak in the area. And they have to walk in unison.

Xior looked at Rhogar and connected it all, they didn’t get the floor 10s clear message because Rhogar was alive and had the will to fight.

"It’s fine...I-I am alr-r-ready going to die..." Rhogar said, his voice gradually becoming lower and he whispered to Xior.

"Please save them..."

Xior looked at his hand and then stabbed it inside Rhogar’s shoulder and moved it diagonally.

Rhogar’s flesh tore off from his chest but he didn’t stop, he ripped apart the flesh covering his heart. In front of Xior was now the heart of Rhogar still beating slightly.

He didn’t want to do this so he gritted his teeth and grabbed the beating heart. He felt the heartbeat in his hand and then pulled it out hard breaking off the arteries connected to it.

The light in Rhogar’s eyes vanished as his body went limp. Xior broke off a scale from his back and walked away from the corpse.

Rheagor looked at the dead body of his father from the distance. He saw Xior walk towards him and expected a similar treatment from him but Xior simply looked at him and nodded to the Rabbit soldiers standing nearby.

[You have acquired ’Lesser Dragon Heart’ and ’Lesser Dragon’s scale]

[Select your partner and ascend the mountain.]

The system reminded him of the floors clearing requirement. Xior simply walked towards Aegis city with the dragon heart and scale in hand. He was going to rest a few days before trying to attempt the ascend.

His figure soon vanished and the sun fully set as well, the world was silent because of the tragedy which occurred. Everyone slept in their homes after a long day of fighting with relief.
