Chapter 117 Spring Breeze Does Not Cross the Jade Gate Pass (45)

The system: A new plot has begun! The villain…

Just as Qin Jiujiu adjusted her breathing, about to face Xie Jing, the force on her waist loosened. He suddenly moved further away from her, and the intimate atmosphere vanished.

However, she was already accustomed to Xie Jing’s erratic behavior, but she didn't know why he put on two different faces.

Xie Jing also didn’t know what was happening to him. He suddenly felt as if he sensed Bai Qianluo was in danger. The unease in his mind was suddenly amplified. That feeling gave him a headache, but his heart remained undisturbed.

His mind felt as if it were being controlled, and a voice kept echoing in his head, “Save Bai Qianluo!”

But what did Bai Qianluo being in danger have to do with him?

Yet, the sharp pain in his head made him lose the ability to think. His mind was suddenly filled with only one thought – save Bai Qianluo!

“What’s wrong?” Xie Jing’s face looked even paler, with no trace of the flush from their earlier passion. He frowned deeply, appearing to be in a bad state.

But he not only didn’t answer her question, he didn’t even spare her a glance before disappearing from her sight.

Finally, she heard a sentence he uttered, “Save Bai Qianluo!”

Those words struck her heart heavily. Everything that had just happened seemed like a dream. With Xie Jing gone, she no longer needed to pretend, but why did her heart feel empty instead?

“System, help me navigate.”

Her tone was light, sounding devoid of emotion.

“Host, are you alright?” This was the first time the system had shown concern for her, but Qin Jiujiu didn’t have the mind to engage with the system at the moment. She calmly replied, “I’m fine,” and said no more.

“The female lead was injured by Hei Xiazi. This plot point originally included the villain…”

Qin Jiujiu realized the system was explaining the reason for the villain’s sudden departure. It seemed to be trying to comfort her, but to Qin Jiujiu, it sounded like it was stating the facts plainly.

Xie Jing had abandoned her without hesitation for Bai Qianluo, not even giving her a second glance! All this served to remind her that Xie Jing’s love had always been for Bai Qianluo, and she was merely a cannon fodder!

The system detected that Qin Jiujiu’s emotions were becoming even more dejected and fell silent. It was just a machine without feelings, so it didn’t understand why her emotions were fluctuating so drastically.

“Host, navigation is enabled! Are you heading to the General’s Residence?”

Qin Jiujiu thought for a moment and finally replied, “Let’s go find Liu Jin!”

This plot point should only involve the names of the three main characters. Liu Jin should be free!

The system, of course, wouldn’t understand that when a girl is heartbroken, the person she most wants to find is her best friend, especially when she’s encountered a scumbag man!

“The second female lead is in the General’s Residence. Navigation back to the General’s Residence is enabled, but the journey is quite far. Are you sure you want to go back?”

Qin Jiujiu was amused by the system’s words and retorted, “Do you expect me to sleep here?”

It said the journey was far, but there were no other means of transportation here. Wasn’t that stating the obvious?

Qin Jiujiu really didn’t have the patience to argue with it!

Thanks to Xie Jing’s timely arrival, Hei Xiazi was successfully captured, and Bai Qianluo’s injuries were not severe. She was naturally well taken care of by Xie Yun. When Xie Jing returned to his room, the sky outside was completely dark.

He opened the door and entered his room without turning on the light.

Darkness could bring him peace, something he desperately needed at the moment.

He lay on the bed fully clothed, looking out through the unlatched window. The leaves cast mottled shadows under the moonlight, which reflected onto the floor of his room.

Suddenly, he felt a surge of irritation!

His head was also aching now. He simply closed his eyes, but his mind was crystal clear; he couldn’t sleep.

Just then, a clumsy sound of footsteps suddenly came from outside the door.

This sound… it sounded like Qin Jiujiu’s, but why was it so disorganized?

His eyes suddenly snapped open. The outside was completely silent now. He could hear these footsteps very clearly. The closer they got, the clearer the image of the person in his mind became.

He perked his ears, listening to the commotion outside.

They were getting closer…

The footsteps stopped at his door. After a moment of silence, a knocking sound suddenly began. The sound could only be described as crude! As if the person knocking was filled with heavy anger!

He almost wanted to laugh. She must have gotten drunk again!

Just as Qin Jiujiu was about to switch from knocking to kicking the door, the door in front of her suddenly opened. She smelled that familiar scent.

Her foot, suspended in mid-air, felt awkward. Accompanied by a wave of dizziness, her body swayed and she was about to fall.

Xie Jing instinctively reached out to catch her, but in her panic, she grabbed onto the doorframe and managed to steady herself. Xie Jing’s outstretched hand had to be retracted. He quietly looked at the woman who couldn't even stand steadily.

She raised her head to look at the person standing in the darkness. He seemed to be waiting for her to speak.

“You’re still awake…” A strong smell of alcohol wafted through the air. Xie Jing frowned. She not only had been drinking, but she had drunk a lot!

After finishing this sentence completely, Qin Jiujiu let out a drunken burp. She seemed to sense Xie Jing’s displeasure and suddenly leaned closer to him, saying, “Do you want a drink?”

As she spoke, she mimicked drinking, looking comical and amusing. The darkness hid most of the expression on his face and concealed the two red patches on hers.

She let go of the hand gripping the doorframe and, seeing that she was about to fall, Xie Jing simply picked her up horizontally and walked into the room.

Qin Jiujiu was enveloped by the calming scent of Xie Jing’s body. The fragrance continuously assaulted her senses, having a fatal attraction for her. Her head, which ached slightly from the alcohol, seemed to have eased due to this aroma, and she instinctively snuggled into his embrace.

Xie Jing walked to the bedside and was about to place her on the bed, but the person in his arms now clung tightly to his neck. He could only lower his head in resignation.

“Can you let go first, okay?” His tone was unusually gentle, coaxing. Qin Jiujiu mumbled and said, “No!,” then tightened her grip on him even more.

Xie Jing: …

Where had the obedient Qin Jiujiu gone?

Qin Jiujiu’s consciousness was unclear. How could she remember that the person in front of her was a great villain? She only knew that she felt comfortable with his scent and didn’t want to let go! If she let go, he would surely leave!

Xie Jing continued to coax her, “Be good, let go, okay?”

Qin Jiujiu didn't let go.

They were in a stalemate, but Xie Jing was patient. Not only was he not angry, but he was uncharacteristically gentle. Because of her, his discomfort completely dissipated, and his heart felt a sense of peace.

“Do you know who I am?” Xie Jing suddenly asked. She was so different from her usual self today, so he wanted to confirm that she knew it was him!

If he heard another name from her lips… He looked at her neck. Her neck was slender, seeming as if it could be snapped with a gentle squeeze!

But as this thought arose, his heart began to ache, making it difficult to breathe!

Forget it! Even if she said another person’s name, even if she wanted to find Xie Yun or Liu Qi, even if she wanted to be pampered and hugged by someone else, he could simply silence her lips and he wouldn’t have to hear it!

“You… aren’t you Xie… Jing?”

His gaze shifted to her lips. Just as she uttered the word “Jing,” he lowered his head and kissed her lips.

The word “Jing” was swallowed by his all-encompassing kiss. For some reason, his kiss was not gentle at all; it was even rough!

The word “Jing” struck his sinking heart. He recovered from the feeling of drowning and looked into her eyes, as if wanting to see into her heart.

“Why… did you stop… kissing… me…”

Her voice was a little childlike, filled with confusion, just like her eyes, which were moist and full of bewilderment.

She genuinely seemed confused as to why he had suddenly stopped!

Xie Jing’s internal alarm bells rang. He knew something was subtly changing, but he didn’t want to stop it!

This felt like a dream, ethereal and illusory, yet one that he was willing to cherish.
