Chapter 59: The hearing

Chapter 59: The hearing

Andria’s POV

"I’m here," Damon said as he entered the classroom.

Was I loud, or does he have a keen hearing sense? I wondered.

"You are probably wondering how I knew you asked about me. Let’s just say we are mates." I guess he understood my confused or surprised facial expression, and that made him spill these words, making me realize that it was just a coincidence.

He probably wanted the class to notice him as usual, and he announced his presence, or he had an earlier talk with the other two that warranted him announcing his appearance.

And judging from who he was, he probably woke up late, and he was dared to get to the classroom before the first teacher for the day steps in. Seeing that he arrived on time, he decided to announce it.

"Well, that’s a coincidence," Tristan cut him off, "You are lucky you came in right on time. So stop seizing the moment to make yourself ’Most sensitive mate’."

Of course, my perceptions were right after all.

I wondered why the first teacher for the day wasn’t in class yet, but as soon as Damon was about to say something, the teacher walked in.

Damon, Tristan and Aven reluctantly walked to the seats behind me. With the look on their faces, I could tell that they had a lot they wanted to say but couldn’t.

"Good morning, class. The class seem a little bit rowdy this morning. I would require silence from you all, before I continue with the lecture I prepared for today," Prof. Garrich Ulfrich said as he mounted the stage at the front of the classroom.

Everyone adjusted in their seats; those who were standing went to their seats.

As the classes went on, my mind kept wandering back to Becca. I silently hoped she was safe.

"As the campaigns and elections are fast approaching, don’t forget exams are also fast approaching," Prof. Garrich said, calling me out of my thoughts.

I almost forgot about the examinations, being engrossed by election campaigns and all of the things that came with it.

I felt something crawl on my neck, pushing my hair to the side. I could tell that Damon was just trying to trigger me.

"You left the other class because you didn’t want to be distracted by the forthcoming exams, yet here you are," Damon whispered into my ear.

Although the hair on my neck did rise, I was agitated by his distraction. "What’s wrong with you, Damon?" I said, turning my head, to meet his unwavering stare.

Tristan was smirking, and Aven averted his eyes. "Well, I wasn’t the one who touched you," Damon said, raising his hands in the air.

"Shh, classes are in session," the lady beside Tristan said, raising an eyebrow at us. Her face was so mean that she could kill me with her eyes.

Damon made a face at her, then turned back at me.

"You heard her, I think you should consider that the teacher is still in class," I said, rolling my eyes at him, before turning back to face the teacher.

As if that was enough, I felt a foot brush my feet. "I tried brushing it back, then the same foot stepped on mine. I knew it was one of them. I wondered why they wanted to be such pains in the ass.

"I suggest that you three quit what you are doing," I ordered, and they nodded sarcastically.

Then Tristan whispered, "And who told you that we plan on quitting any time? What is more fun than teasing our mate?"

I left an entire classroom so that I wouldn’t have to deal with this, yet they found a way to be in the same class as I am, and even sit close to me.

"If we aren’t careful, we might end up spending the rest of the day in the detention room, which won’t be good, considering I have a hearing concerning that incident to attend," I warned, shooting them a glare.

The female student who sat beside Tristan looked at us once again, her face swollen as if she had eaten dead meat. She was getting distracted by our conversation, and she wasn’t happy about it. "If you don’t keep quiet, I’ll be forced to alert the teacher."

She seemed to be looking straight at me as she spoke; instead of the actual culprits, I wondered if she had a problem with me. I shrugged and rolled my eyes at the three of them before turning my head once again.

The remaining part of the classes went on quietly; they didn’t disturb me, save for the occasional blowing of breeze from I don’t know whose mouth to my neck.

Soon, the classes were over, and everyone rushed out of the classroom. They were already tired. Prof. Garrich’s classes were usually very dull, and many couldn’t always wait to leave.

"Miss Aria, I would love to see you once again after class," Prof. Garrich announced just as I was about to leave the classroom.

"Not again," I murmured to myself, "What is it I have done this time around?"

When everyone in the class was gone, I walked over to him in front of the classroom.

"Looking at your scores from your previous school, you seem like a very bright wolf, you have prospects or potential of being a high ranking she-wolf after you have graduated from this academy, only if you put up with this type of grade here in Ashwood," he paused and looked at me just to be sure I was getting every detail of his speech.

I listened, but I was impatient to know where he was headed with this piece of information. "I can hear you, sir," I urged him on.

"Therefore, all these distractions, getting into unwanted fights or scenarios like the one with you and Tracy," he said, referring to the ongoing case at the school’s council.

"A bright student like you does not need them. Although holding a post at the student council boosts your importance in the school and might allow you to be a high-ranked wolf in society, it might also serve as a distraction to you."

He finished and then looked at me as if he expected some form of reply to his long speech about how I should stay away from trouble, but I couldn’t help but wonder if he was one of the teachers under Tracy’s payroll.

"I heard everything you said, Prof, but the issue is that..." I couldn’t finish my words before he cut me off.

"By the way, how do you feel now?, I don’t like to hear that one of my bright students wasn’t able to attend classes because of some minor differences that can be sorted out if they had stayed away from it."

I was astonished, I didn’t have any other words for him. First, he calls the incident that nearly caused my life minor, trying to downplay the whole scenario.

This entire talk was beginning to sound more like a threat than a warning speech for my safety. This teacher should be on the lookout for him, as he might just be a dangerous one.

"I have heard all that you said, I’ll look into my excesses and misdemeanors," I answered and left his office. Anything to leave his shitty presence, I have a hearing to attend, and I might be running late.

Fuck Tracy for being so ruthless, but I’ll see that she eats the poison she prepared for me.

Athena was enraged. The scene with Prof. Garrich was a clear sign that Tracy was already trying to buy the school council in her favor. No wonder she feels like she could get out of any mess that she had created.

But today I’ll make sure that my testimony will be one of the reasons bullying is put to an end in Ashwood.

I walked fast through the hallway, straight into the council chamber. The council were already seated, ready to take my testimony.

"You may proceed with your testimony, Aria. What happened that night?" one of the council members asked with a firm voice and look on her face.

Just then, Prof. Garrich stepped in and took a seat in one of the council seats.

A sick, crippling feeling enveloped me, but I would speak anyway; he might just have one per cent say in the council.

"I had just finished hanging my election posters with friends, Becca and Arlo, when we decided it was time for us to retire to bed. It happened that a young male awaited me in my room."

I swallowed, allowing myself to catch my breath before I continued.

"He charged towards me, we fought, and I manoeuvred him. Just as I was about to step out of the room, I was told that his boss was Becca, my friend. The young male was a student in this academy.

"Why do you think so?, Was he putting on any of the academy’s uniform?
