"Why?"
Chu Lingwei's eyes held no surprise; this was within her expectations.
"Because the items being auctioned this time are extremely valuable. All cultivators who come ashore are not allowed to leave," the shopkeeper knew clearly that they did not want Chu Lingwei to leave.
"Is this news just received?"
"Yes."
Chu Lingwei chuckled lightly, stroking the phantom cat's head, and shook her head with a sigh, "It seems I have no choice but to see what this precious item is that prevents all cultivators from leaving the island."
A hint of darkness flickered in the shopkeeper's eyes. Fairy Chu was in a bad situation. He had to report this news to the young master.
Unable to leave the island for now, Chu Lingwei returned to her room, contemplating her next move.
"Weiwei, it must be that Young Master Meng's doing," the phantom cat said indignantly upon returning to the room. "I didn't expect this person to be so detestable."
"Accept what you cannot change."
Chu Lingwei had long anticipated that Meng Qinghe would prevent her from leaving. She hadn't expected him to use such a reason, which indicated his high status in Song City.
Young Master Meng.
He couldn't possibly be the young master of Song City, could he?
"But, he..." A dark glint flashed in the phantom cat's eyes. "How about we sabotage their auction, and see if he still dares to be so arrogant?"
"Do you have a way?" Chu Lingwei thought of the magical artifacts in their wine house. If all of them were activated, the entire island would likely be destroyed.
What kind of terrifying power could attract all the strong cultivators of Xuan Tian Continent? The Meng family's foundation was not something that could be destroyed so easily.
"I... I don't have a way for now." The phantom cat's voice weakened as he thought of the magical artifacts in the wine house. He truly had no solution.
"Alright, he just wants me to stay here temporarily. Let's go and see what good things are at the auction," Chu Lingwei was quite philosophical. If he wanted her to stay, then so be it.
The phantom cat's eyes were filled with disappointment. His abilities were too weak.
If he could reach his peak, let alone a small island, he wouldn't even bat an eye at the entire Xuan Tian Continent.
Chu Lingwei didn't want to go out. The outside was filled with powerful cultivators and great beings. She didn't want to be casually killed. She would go to the front of the wine house every day to enjoy the scenery and listen to the happenings on the island.
"I heard that there's a treasure at this auction." No matter how powerful a great being was, they always had a gossipy heart.
Chu Lingwei drank her spiritual tea, listening to the conversation next door, her expression relaxed.
"Do you know what it is?" the Huatian Realm cultivator opposite him asked.
"How could I possibly know?" The first cultivator said helplessly. "Even if I knew, it would be for the Dominator Realm great beings to know. What qualifications do people like us have?"
"For Dominator Realm great beings to appear here, that item must be incredibly powerful," the Huatian Realm cultivator sighed with emotion. "I feel like I have a chance to break through. I believe that after this auction ends, I will ascend another level."
"Really?"
The cultivator opposite him scrutinized his friend, a look of confusion in his eyes. "There's no sign of a breakthrough in you."
"You wouldn't understand this," the cultivator said, not elaborating further and falling silent.
Every day, Chu Lingwei could hear people discussing the treasure at this auction. Her initial curiosity slowly turned into numbness.
"What exactly is this treasure?"
"Does Miss Chu want to know?" Meng Qinghe arrived at Chu Lingwei's table and overheard her words, smiling gently.
Chu Lingwei looked up at Meng Qinghe. Today, the ferocity on his face was significantly reduced. His complexion was smooth as jade, like an immortal banished from heaven.
"Young Master Meng, why are you here?"
"Miss Chu, you don't wish to see me?" A hint of hurt flashed in Meng Qinghe's eyes. He had held back from coming for days, thinking she would at least be a little happy.
Chu Lingwei shook her head and turned to look outside. "The auction is about to begin. I thought Young Master Meng would be very busy."
"No, these matters don't require my concern at all." Meng Qinghe chuckled and shook his head. "Miss Chu, you cannot leave Song City for now. Have you considered attending the auction?"
Meng Qinghe's sole purpose for coming today was to invite Chu Lingwei to attend the auction with him.
"Young Master Meng, do you know how many pairs of eyes are watching me outside?" Chu Lingwei asked without answering. "Do you know whose eyes they are?"
Meng Qinghe's expression stiffened, and guilt showed in his eyes. "Miss Chu, I apologize."
"Tell me, if I were to truly attend the auction with you, what would they do to me?" Chu Lingwei smiled. Those eyes outside, almost all of them belonged to the Meng family.
These people had been following her since she arrived on the island. There was likely only one reason: Meng Qinghe.
"Miss Chu, they wouldn't dare to touch you." Meng Qinghe's voice became urgent, and he shot an angry gaze towards those hidden in the shadows outside.
"No, Young Master Meng knows clearly that there are ways they can make me disappear." Chu Lingwei chuckled lightly and shook her head. The cultivation of those people outside was something even the phantom cat couldn't see through. Killing her would be as easy as crushing an ant.
Meng Qinghe felt Chu Lingwei's sarcastic tone pierce his heart like a knife.
"Miss Chu, I know you don't believe my words, but I swear upon my Dao heart that they will not harm a single hair on your head."
The people hidden in the shadows outside, upon hearing their young master's words, were greatly shocked and quickly departed.
"Weiwei, half of the people outside have left." The phantom cat immediately informed Chu Lingwei as he sensed their departure.
"Young Master Meng, your promise like this will only push me into a more dangerous situation." Chu Lingwei was not a child and was unmoved by such promises.
He was the young master of the Meng family. The Meng family would certainly not allow a woman to obstruct their young master's path. It could be imagined that her future situation would be very troublesome.
If she had known she would encounter such a person, Chu Lingwei would have swum here rather than accept this ride.
One ride had brought her such great trouble.
Meng Qinghe was stunned for a moment. Faced with Chu Lingwei's direct words, he couldn't think of a retort.
"I apologize, Miss Chu. This will definitely not happen." Meng Qinghe stood up and strode away. If they dared to harm Chu Lingwei, he would surely make them regret it.
Seeing Meng Qinghe's hurried departure, Chu Lingwei remained expressionless and sighed softly. She might as well go back to secluded cultivation.
"Who?!"
As she entered the room, a faint aura quickly dissipated. Chu Lingwei's expression tensed.
Someone who could easily enter even the phantom cat's nineteenth barrier. The cultivation of this person was unimaginable.
"If you don't come out, don't blame me for acting." The Ice Jade Frost Sword in her hand exuded spiritual energy, making the entire room unusually cold.
