Chu Chang was already bone-chillingly cold. If the Old Ancestor attributed this matter to him, he wouldn't even have a chance to resist.
"Old Ancestor..."
"Scoundrel!"
Jiang Xian struck Chu Chang with a heavy surge of spiritual energy. He had the capability to contend for the Sect Master position but lacked the ability to clean up his messes. Utterly incompetent.
Chu Chang's body, like a falling leaf, flew into the air and then crashed heavily back to the ground.
"Jiang Xian, it seems your control is lax. No wonder your Xuanxin Sect is declining. Even honorary elders dare to scheme against the Sect Master of Xuanxin Sect," Bei Chenfeng said with feigned regret, shaking his head.
The elders of Xuanxin Sect who had aided Chu Chang's cause felt a jolt of alarm. Bei Chenfeng was clearly intending to settle scores.
Two years ago, when Chu Lingwei exposed Chu Chang's actions, Bei Chenfeng hadn't held Xuanxin Sect accountable. They had all assumed he wouldn't concern himself with such matters, never expecting him to bring it up at this juncture.
"The millennia-old foundation of Xuanxin Sect may be ruined in your hands," Bei Chenfeng's voice was soft, but to the elders of Xuanxin Sect, it sounded like death knells.
Jiang Xian's face darkened as his shame was pointed out in front of everyone. He turned his gaze towards the Xuanxin Sect members. The eyes of a supreme being could truly be lethal.
"Old Ancestor, spare me."
Those with guilty consciences, unable to help themselves, knelt down, confessing their wrongdoings.
Chu Lingwei watched as one by one, people prostrated themselves. Her heart grew colder. Nearly half of Xuanxin Sect's elders had pledged allegiance to Chu Chang long ago. They had watched their own father be framed, recognized a villain as their master, and then been persecuted.
"Truly a pack of beasts," Chu Lingwei's eyes blazed with murderous intent. She remembered each and every one of them and would make them pay.
Not a single one would escape.
"It seems I must personally rectify the Xuanxin Sect," Jiang Xian's voice boomed. All the Xuanxin Sect elders kneeling on the ground trembled, their bodies wracked with pain.
"Weiwei, how do you intend to deal with those who harmed your father?" Bei Chenfeng turned his head, looking at his little disciple. He had not forgotten Chu Lingwei's five-year pact.
In the world of spiritual cultivation, five years could seem both short and long.
Much could happen within five years.
Revenge was best served sooner rather than later.
"My father was imprisoned by him in Han Cliff for ten years, his cultivation slowly dissipated by the Spirit Scattering Array, enduring endless torment. I will make him repay tenfold," Chu Lingwei walked up to Chu Chang. The hatred in her eyes was sheathed as she gave him a sweet smile.
"Uncle, what do you say? Is it good to be a cripple?"
"Chu Lingwei, I am your uncle. You were raised by me." Chu Chang was filled with terror. He did not wish to be a cripple; that would be worse than death.
Chu Lingwei chuckled, "Yes, I almost forgot. Uncle, you were so good to me."
"Weiwei, Uncle was wrong." Chu Chang looked pleadingly at the Old Ancestor. He saw a void in his eyes, knowing the Old Ancestor intended to sacrifice him to uphold Xuanxin Sect.
If his spiritual veins were not destroyed, he might still have a sliver of hope.
Chu Lingwei smiled and turned her head, looking at Bei Chenfeng. "Master, but Chu Chang might have colluded with the Demon Clan. Would it be proper for me to kill him?"
Jiang Xian's eyelids twitched. This young girl had a remarkably good memory.
"Weiwei, Chu Chang and his biological daughter were bewitched by the Demon Clan. According to Xuanxin Sect rules, his cultivation will be crippled and he will be expelled from the sect." Jiang Xian forced a smile onto his face. With this single statement, Chu Chang was condemned, thus separating Xuanxin Sect from the entanglement.
Chu Lingwei looked at Bei Chenfeng. Seeing him nod slightly, she understood her master's intent. She stepped forward and bowed to Old Ancestor Jiang Xian.
"Old Ancestor Jiang Xian, I wish to personally destroy his cultivation and avenge my father."
Jiang Xian saw that Chu Lingwei was being sensible. He waved his hand, and golden light enveloped the sky above Xuanxin Sect, accompanied by a solemn voice.
"Chu Chang, for his selfish desires, colluded with outsiders and harmed Chu Ze, the Sect Master of Xuanxin Sect. I, representing Xuanxin Sect, expel him from our sect."
"Ah!"
Events had unfolded too quickly. Chu Chang had not had time to react before his connection to Xuanxin Sect was severed, signifying he was no longer a disciple.
"Weiwei, now that Chu Chang is no longer a Xuanxin Sect disciple, you may deal with him as you wish."
As Jiang Xian spoke, he glanced towards the Hehuan Sect and the Shenyin Gate. Now that Chu Chang was no longer the Sect Master of Xuanxin Sect, the accusation of colluding with demons was untenable.
If they wished to pursue the matter, it would have to be resolved through force.
Fei Yan of the Hehuan Sect and Lei Yuming of the Shenyin Gate lowered their heads slightly, tacitly acknowledging Jiang Xian's decision.
Li Jue stood behind, silent. With Jiang Xian's intervention, everyone knew this matter could not be spread further.
None of them wished to contend with a supreme being of the Ultimate Realm.
Without hesitation, Chu Lingwei stepped forward. Her Ice Jade Frost Sword, imbued with spiritual energy, lunged towards Chu Chang.
Although Chu Chang had been expelled from the sect, Jiang Xian had not crippled his cultivation. Despite his injuries, he was still a cultivator of the Huatian Realm.
He might not be a match for some here, but a disciple of the Linglun Realm was beneath his notice.
To survive, he had no choice but to fight back here.
As Chu Lingwei attacked, he lunged forward, aiming directly for Chu Lingwei's vital points.
Jiang Xian let out a soft hum. Chu Chang's body was sent flying back like a piece of tattered cloth. He had entrusted Chu Chang to Chu Lingwei's disposal, having already decided his fate.
Having already bestowed a favor, he certainly wouldn't allow that favor to go awry.
Chu Lingwei had anticipated Chu Chang's counterattack. The bell in her hand launched its assault. To her surprise, as Chu Chang sprang up, his body was repelled.
With this, she effortlessly thrust her sword into Chu Chang's spiritual veins, destroying them and turning him into a cripple.
Even so, Chu Chang was a Huatian Realm powerhouse. With increased cultivation, his physical body would gradually strengthen.
Such a physique would allow him to live comfortably on the Xuantian Continent. Chu Lingwei would not give him that chance. She broke his limbs and tendons, rendering him unable to walk or live normally.
A strong physique would only make him suffer more in life.
"Chu Lingwei, I curse you to die a horrible death!"
Chu Lingwei smiled. The path of spiritual cultivation was a constant struggle against the heavens. She had no faith in curses. "But now, it seems you're the one who's going to die a horrible death, wouldn't you say?"
"Little junior sister, shall senior brother help you pluck out his tongue?" Nangong Luo walked up to Chu Lingwei. How dare someone insult his junior sister? Truly seeking death.
"You dare." Chu Chang retreated frantically. He was already in such a state, surely they wouldn't... "Ah!"
Chu Chang's eyes widened, his face covered in blood. The blood oozing from his tongue rendered him incapable of uttering a sound.
"Finally, some peace and quiet."
Old Ancestor Jiang Xian's expression was displeased, but this matter was with his tacit approval. Chu Chang's fate was now of no consequence to him.
"You may go to Han Cliff to receive your punishment."
Jiang Xian turned around, looking at the Xuanxin Sect elders kneeling on the ground. These were indispensable strong individuals for Xuanxin Sect.
