Chapter 386: Chapter 386: Let Him Go
Chantelle’s chest tightened. This villa belonged to her master, and it should have been impossible for anyone to find them.
Was it Trenton’s men?
Outside, Lone Wolf leaned casually against an SUV, whistling at Daniel, who stood near the villa gates.
"Hey, Mr. Wilson! You finally showed up."
Daniel didn’t expect to see Lone Wolf here. He instantly thought Lone Wolf had taken Chantelle, so he signaled his men to attack.
"Damn it, Daniel, you cheated!" Lone Wolf cursed, rolling across the SUV to dodge the strike.
He didn’t know the full story between Chantelle and Daniel, but since she brought Xander and Stephanie here without telling Daniel, it was clear their conflict was serious.
Lone Wolf had no real hobbies. He just liked seeing Daniel embarrassed.
That was why, when a bodyguard reported Daniel’s arrival, Lone Wolf came out right away and blocked him at the door.
He had planned to mock Daniel for failing to protect his wife and children, but Daniel attacked him without saying a word.
Daniel wasn’t in the mood to talk. He only wanted to see Chantelle and the children, and anyone in his way would be struck down.
The people in the villa only followed Chantelle’s orders. They ignored Lone Wolf’s calls for help.
Fighting on his own, Lone Wolf shouted toward the villa, "Lady, come out! Your crazy man is here! He’s going to kill me!"
Daniel’s eyes flickered when he heard that, and he pushed the gun barrel away from Lone Wolf.
Chantelle came out and froze at the sight. She instinctively pulled Lone Wolf to the side, but he shamelessly wrapped his arms around her waist and spun her around.
"Let go of her!" Daniel pressed a gun against Lone Wolf’s waist.
Lone Wolf quickly released her, grumbling, "How boring. I just wanted to see you jealous."
Chantelle quickly shot Lone Wolf a cold glare. "Do you want to die today?"
Lone Wolf lifted his shoulder in a shrug. Death meant nothing to him as he was part of the killer organization that was filled with casualties.
"Chantelle!" Daniel’s voice softened as he looked at her. When he noticed the gauze wrapped around her, his expression turned cold. He walked up to her and pulled her into his arms.
Lone Wolf tried to strike while Daniel was close, but Daniel spun and kicked him hard in the chest. The blow nearly shattered his bones.
"Lady, why did you abandon me?" Lone Wolf staggered back, staring at Chantelle with wounded eyes, as if she had cast him aside for another man.
Chantelle pushed Daniel away and said to Lone Wolf, "If you don’t want to die, then leave."
"Wow, you’re so heartless!" Lone Wolf said. He didn’t know the full story between her and Daniel, and he refused to leave until he found out.
"If you won’t leave, then fight somewhere else. Don’t get in my way," Chantelle said. Her mind was on Xander, and she had no patience for him.
Daniel signaled his men to seize Lone Wolf.
Lone Wolf had tried to harm Chantelle before, and Daniel wanted to remove the threat once and for all.
"Lady, you’re so ungrateful! You’ve really let me down!" Lone Wolf shouted as he dodged Daniel’s men.
Chantelle saw that Lone Wolf was handling the fight easily, so she stayed silent. But remembering that Lone Wolf had saved her, Xander, and Stephanie today, she finally said to Daniel, "Let him go."
Daniel’s face darkened upon hearing Chantelle’s words. He didn’t want to release Lone Wolf. His men grew more aggressive, and wanted to kill Lone Wolf.
"Lady, help!" Lone Wolf shouted as he leapt around to dodge, but still he was hurt.
Chantelle raised her hand, and a group of bodyguards stepped out to stand behind her, facing Daniel’s men.
"I don’t care about your grudges with Lone Wolf but I asked him for help today. If you want to kill him, then you and I will be enemies," she threatened Daniel sharply.
Daniel’s face darkened as he tried to control his anger. "You’re really going to turn against me for him?"
"Mr. Wilson, be rational. If killing isn’t enough for you, then go after Trenton’s men. Lone Wolf is my ally, yet you want to kill him. You’re the one turning against me first."
Chantelle’s voice was cold and distant, and it made Daniel nervous .
"When did you get so close to him? He’s sly and dangerous. He’s tried to hurt you more than once. I can’t leave such a threat alive." Daniel reached for her hand, but she pulled away.
Chantelle didn’t want to explain anymore. She kept her eyes on Daniel, waiting for his decision.
Lone Wolf looked at Daniel with arrogance. Watching Daniel hold back his anger in front of Chantelle filled him with satisfaction.
Who would have thought that Daniel, so powerful in Easthan, would be forced to give in like this?
Daniel’s eyes shifted to the wound on Chantelle’s face. It was from a bullet. If the shot had gone a little differently, she could have died.
He was desperate to know how many wounds Chantelle had suffered and how the children were doing.
At last, he said, "Okay, I promise you. I’ll let him go."
The bodyguards stopped immediately upon Daniel’s order.
Lone Wolf didn’t fight back. He put away his Gold Threads and shouted to Chantelle as he ran away, "Lady, he can’t even protect you or the children! You should break up with him!"
Chantelle ignored him. Once he was gone from the villa, she quickly turned and hurried inside, anxious to check on Xander’s condition.
"Chantelle, let me see your injury," Daniel said. He noticed the bandages and thought that a doctor must be in the villa. He didn’t force her to go to the hospital, knowing it could be even more dangerous now.
Still, he couldn’t help but worry. He needed to know how serious her wounds were.
"I’m fine. Are you okay?" Chantelle asked as she walked toward the ward door.
Daniel was stunned by her question. Am I okay? No, I’m not. Nothing feels okay when her safety and the children’s safety mean everything to me.
But when he saw the clarity and distance in Chantelle’s eyes, he held back his words.
"Daddy, are you hurt too?" Stephanie asked softly. She rubbed her eyes as she walked over and looked up at him.
Daniel’s eyes drifted from Chantelle, who was covered in bruises, to Stephanie, with visible scratches on her skin. His chest tightened painfully, as if someone was squeezing the air out of him.
They were all injured, but he was the only one unharmed.
