Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Heart That Pursues Women and Immortality
Vahn could only hear the word "Immortal" echoing in his ears like a nonstop.
Immortal... an unkillable, indestructible being.
Is it truly possible to become an immortal?
He had asked himself that question countless times since the day he transmigrated, but never once had he received a clear answer.
But now, the path felt brighter, clearer than ever before. His heart filled with determination and his blood boiled with excitement.
After leaving behind his past life of failure and regret, only two things kept him moving forward: the attraction toward beautiful women, and the dream of becoming an Immortal.
Both of them were now within his reach. He only needed to work hard.
With that vow etched into his heart, he returned to his quarters. Lying on the crude bed, he let his thoughts wander toward the future plans. There were two incredible gifts within him: the Void Refining Physique and the Divine Bonding System.
Right now, he had no information about the Void Refining Physique, so his priority was clear: to learn more about the System and strengthen his bond with Seraphina.
But If he could also discover something about his physique along the way, that would be even better.
The plan was simple: grow closer to Seraphina, both physically and emotionally. The rewards would follow naturally.
That night, his dreams were filled with countless indecent scenes of Seraphina, so vivid that when he awoke, he had no choice slap himself.
Afterward he thoroughly washed himself.
The day in the Holy Land started with the grand chime of the massive bronze bell situated on top a sacred peak.
Vahn, along with the other Outer Court disciples, stepped out of their quarters and gathered in neat lines upon a wide stone platform carved from the mountain itself.
The disciples looked refreshed and full of vigor. Their faces brimmed with renewed determination as if the dawn carried fresh hope for their cultivation journey.
Soon, a middle-aged man floated on top of flying sword and descended smoothly. His bright blue robe rippled like flowing mist and his sleeve bands fluttered in the crisp breeze.
His presence was imposing yet restrained.
From the murmurs around him, Vahn learned his identity. This was Elder Orsted, a man renowned for his strictness.
His hawk-like eyes passed over the disciples as if to pierce through their very souls.
Vahn carefully positioned himself in the middle of the second row. To avoid drawing unnecessary attention.
But it was impossible to hide from that man. Elder Orsted’s hawk-like gaze passed over the crowd and locked on Vahn for a heartbeat, sharp and probing, as if measuring his worth.
Then, without pause, he turned to address the hundreds of Outer Court disciples gathered before him.
His deep voice echoed like thunder:
"I am Elder Orsted from Moonlight Sword peak. From today onward, I will oversee the training of the Outer Court division. Many of you are newcomers who have just passed the Holy Ascension Stairway. Do not expect us to hold your hands. The fundamentals are your own responsibility to master."
The crowd fell silent, hanging onto every word.
"I will, however, give you a brief outline of what comes next. Within one month, you are expected to complete your Body Tempering cultivation. Only then may you choose a cultivation manual and begin refining spiritual energy. Or Qi, as most call it.
As for how you would achieve this? That burden falls on you. Take missions, earn spirit stones, purchase medicinal baths, and temper yourselves through hardship. Remember this well— nothing here is free. Everything must be earned with your own effort.
Although... to prevent you from dying like beggars, we provide each new disciple with ten low-grade spirit stones. If you have not yet claimed yours, retrieve them from the administrative hall."
At the mention of spirit stones, Vahn instinctively rested a hand over the small pouch tied to his waist. Inside were the very ten stones he had received just yesterday.
He understood the true value of these crystallized energy stones. Not only could they be used as a cultivation resource, but they also served as currency in many transactions.
Although, in backward places like his village, gold and silver were the only mediums of exchange. Any spirit stones mined there were quickly handed over to cultivators for consumption.
But Vahn had no intention of wasting his share so carelessly.
Next, at the instructor’s command, Vahn and the other disciples were told to pick up a weapon. Swords, spears, halberds, and many other types of weapons were laid out before them.
Most disciples immediately reached for swords. They were the easiest to learn, the most familiar, and in the future, many dreamed of using them as a means to soar through the skies.
Vahn also chose a sword. For him, however, it was nothing more than a casual choice. There was no special intent or hidden meaning behind it.
He didn’t yet know what weapon would suit him best, so it was wiser to gain a little familiarity with them all first.
When Vahn’s hand closed around the hilt of the sword, he felt a faint chill seep into his palm. The weapon was simple, but it had a faint sharpness that reminded him of a hidden fang waiting to be unleashed.
He gave it a casual swing. The weight felt well-balanced, neither too heavy nor too light, and it cut cleanly through the air. Compared to the other weapons, this one felt the most natural for him, though he wasn’t sure if that was true affinity or just convenience.
Around him, the other disciples also brandished their own chosen weapons with different levels of confidence. Some swung their swords with grinning excitement, while others nervously fumbled with spears longer than their own height. A few ambitious disciples even chose halberds and greatsabers, though their trembling arms made it clear they were struggling to hold them balanced.
Afterward, the instructor demonstrated a series of basic drills for each weapon. His movements were clean and precise. His footworks and control were excellent. Even when parrying or throwing, he showed the traits of a true Weapon Master.
Vahn followed along with the sword drills, swinging at the empty air. At first his strikes were easy, but after several repetitions his arms began to ache. Even after channeling a thin stream of Spirit Energy into his muscles, he could not endure for long.
Elder Orsted noticed and addressed the group,
"This is the result of untempered bodies. Without forging your bones, blood, and muscles, no one can wield a weapon for more than an hour without collapse."
The newcomers nodded in silence.
Vahn, however, only sighed, sheathing the sword before leaving quietly once the morning training concluded.
Next, he made his way toward Serenity’s Peak, the place where Saintess Seraphina resided.
It was time to do his servant duty. But... Ahem, why was he blushing at the moment?
Anyway, along the winding path upstream, he was stopped multiple times by law enforcement officers dressed in silver and gold-trimmed robes. Their sharp gazes carried authority, but once Vahn presented his special badge, their expressions changed instantly.
They were shocked.
"Who are you, boy?"
Vahn showed a smug smile.
"It’s Written clearly, Officers. I am Vahn Woodinson, the Saintess’ personal Servant."
He replied nonchalantly, but they were left speechless.
Nonetheless, they stepped aside without another word as they are informed about this new Servant beforehand.
Vahn climbed upward with confident strides.
To others, this badge was a mark of privilege. But to him, it was simply the key to bringing home the rewards waiting ahead.
