She kept glancing around, perhaps fearing discovery.
Little did she know, such behavior only increased suspicion, making her look like she was meeting a spy.
Lianyun surveyed her surroundings and, deeming it safe, slowly approached.
Gui spoke first, accusing her: "Why didn't you tell me your identity was exposed! I felt like I was on a roller coaster today! And why was Ning Wei helping you so much? Did you two strike some kind of deal?"
Lianyun was bombarded by Gui's barrage of questions and didn't know where to begin answering.
Moreover, there were things she didn't intend to reveal to Gui, so she chose to answer selectively, avoiding the more sensitive points.
"You came to find me so suddenly today and told me so many new game rules. I hadn't even processed it myself, so I didn't have a chance to tell you about my exposed identity."
"I thought I was doomed. Sheng Kaiwei was so arrogant before, so I wanted to avenge the passengers who died on the same bus as me, and vent some of my own anger."
"Anything else?" Gui asked, hands on her hips, in a manner that suggested interrogation.
"Anything else?" Lianyun feigned ignorance.
Gui snorted and poked a finger towards Lianyun's eye socket. Lianyun flinched back, but Gui didn't care, continuing: "Why did Ning Wei stand so firmly by your side at noon today? You'd better explain it clearly!"
"She's helped me several times before, as you've seen. She even secretly gave me a silver knife. Perhaps she wanted to win me over, or perhaps she felt pity for me." Lianyun said with a self-deprecating smile.
But Gui clearly didn't believe her: "Ning Wei isn't that kind of person!"
Lianyun retorted, "But you saw what happened before. That's the reality, and I don't know what she saw in me."
Seeing she couldn't get more information, Gui looked at Lianyun suspiciously: "Then remember to find out from her what her intentions are."
Lianyun nodded slightly.
Gui continued: "Since she's already gotten herself into trouble protecting you today, you should deal with her tonight. She's the strongest person here. As long as we turn her into one of us, our mission will be twice as effective!"
Lianyun was surprised by Gui's quick thinking. Just moments ago, Gui had looked down on Ning Wei, and now she wanted to recruit her.
However, Lianyun couldn't bring herself to do it. Ning Wei had just confided in her. If she opened the door for the werewolves tonight, everything they had said would be in vain.
She didn't want to ruin her impression in Ning Wei's eyes, so she tentatively suggested: "How about I deal with Sheng Kaiwei tonight, and you handle Ning Wei?"
Gui rolled her eyes. "You're really determined to go after Sheng Kaiwei, aren't you? Don't you remember what our mission is?"
Lianyun had already prepared her excuse and began to persuade Gui: "Sheng Kaiwei already knows my identity. He'll definitely report me again tomorrow. To protect myself, I have to turn him into one of us tonight. Don't you want the teammate we painstakingly developed to disappear after just one day?"
Gui thought about it and realized it made sense. She grudgingly agreed to Lianyun's request.
After all, to Gui, whether it was Sheng Kaiwei or Ning Wei, they would eventually become werewolves.
Who did it wasn't that important.
In fact, Gui didn't fully trust Lianyun's abilities. Otherwise, she wouldn't have easily turned her into one of them. It was simply because she saw Lianyun as sufficiently weak.
"Then tonight, after everyone enters their rooms, you'll lead the werewolves to open Sheng Kaiwei's door. Try to be as discreet as possible, so no one realizes it was you."
Lianyun nodded obediently.
"Alright, that's all I have to say. Don't look for me again today. Everything proceeds according to plan!"
Gui lost her patience, gave one last instruction, and quickly left.
Soon, night fell, and as the clock struck the hour, everyone gathered around the dining table.
Because it was dark, everyone was afraid Lianyun might attack them, so for the first time, they changed seats.
Sheng Kaiwei's group all sat on one side, and the remaining seats were left for Ning Wei and her teammates, as well as the definite werewolf, Lianyun.
Wu Qing came over and remarked, "Oh, the guests are finally willing to change seats."
With the seat change, the people closest to Wu Qing were no longer Sheng Kaiwei's group.
Everyone looked nervously at Wu Qing, fearing that changing seats was also part of the rules.
However, Wu Qing only mentioned it briefly before summoning the maids. Everyone's hearts gradually relaxed.
Sheng Kaiwei, still not giving up, pressed Wu Qing: "Can we only catch a ghost once a day, or can we catch one after each meal?"
Wu Qing replied coldly, "You can only catch one a day. If you could catch one after every meal, what's the point of playing?"
Sheng Kaiwei was left speechless and could only bury his head in his food.
After dinner was everyone's sleeping time. It was already dark, and no one dared to go to the backyard anymore.
The werewolves in the dense forest were restless, their red eyes flickering like crimson lanterns.
Ning Wei stood by the window, counting the eyes again. There were currently seventeen guests, and the number of werewolves should correspond to seventeen, though this was just Ning Wei's guess.
She counted carefully several times, then sadly lowered her head.
It seemed this was another rule: the number of werewolves was consistent with the number of guests. Even if they had killed all the werewolves last night, several werewolves would still appear tonight.
This information wasn't a secret, so Ning Wei generously shared it with her teammates.
She didn't deliberately lower her voice, so Sheng Kaiwei's group also pricked up their ears.
When this news broke, Tang Tang and the others didn't react much, but Sheng Kaiwei's group began to panic.
They had already stayed here for three nights, and the fourth room selection was imminent. This meant they were in increasing danger and might very well choose the same room.
This group of people didn't yet know how the ghost harmed others, so their defense was currently focused on the werewolves.
Their gaze swept across the entire hall. Unfortunately, the only silver items were the knives and forks they used for eating.
Even more unfortunately, these items had been collected by the maids after the meal.
The dining table was now bare except for a tablecloth, cleaner than their faces.
What was more, Lianyun had been caught stealing a knife by Wu Qing before, so they no longer dared to steal, even though Wu Qing only came to stand for a short while in the morning and at noon. They didn't dare to take the risk.
Last night, Ning Wei and her group had dealt with three werewolves, and the silver knife must have played a role.
