Tang Tang's muffled grumbling could faintly be heard from outside.
Hearing her voice, everyone else held their breath for her.
In truth, the layout of each room was roughly the same; the only difference was what "surprise" awaited when one opened the door.
Take Tang Tang's room, for instance. It was a blatant scene of dismemberment, but due to her bad luck, she had to endure it for an entire night.
Each room had an independent bathroom. Tang Tang approached, and only this small space seemed bearable for a night.
She cautiously stepped into the bathtub, a blood-stained cleaver found on the floor in her hand. She didn't even dare to close the shower curtain.
She dared not move the towels or bedding into the bathroom, as all fabric items were stained with blood to varying degrees.
"It's your turn." Ning Wei glanced at the time; less than ten minutes remained.
The werewolves outside were getting closer, their forms now clearly visible.
They were covered in black fur. Although they walked upright, they were no different from wolves, except their heads bore faces that vaguely resembled human ones.
Their mouths were agape, revealing sharp, long fangs, and saliva dripped incessantly.
Their hands were tipped with sharp claws, comparable to Wolverine from the movies.
Their feet also bore claws, and their legs appeared incredibly powerful.
A glance from top to bottom confirmed that these beings were formidable.
They were armed from head to toe; any single one of their weapons could easily end a life.
Aware of the tight schedule, everyone took a deep breath and randomly pushed open a door.
As the doors swung open, they dared not open their eyes, fearing their luck would be as bad as Tang Tang's.
Before each person entered their room, Ning Wei would issue a reminder: "Call for help loudly if anything happens."
Her words served as a reassurance to everyone, giving them a stable anchor.
Soon, only Bai Yang and Ning Wei remained in the hallway. The last two rooms were empty, with two non-adjacent rooms situated between Song Zhi and Mei Nan.
"Sister, can I share a room with you? I'm really scared," Bai Yang pleaded with Ning Wei, appearing fragile.
"You have a certain 'brainstem deficiency' beauty about you right now," Ning Wei stated coldly, looking at her.
Initially, Bai Yang didn't understand the implication and thought Ning Wei was genuinely complimenting her.
With a loud bang, Bai Yang snapped back to reality.
Her resentful gaze fell upon the room Ning Wei had chosen. At that moment, another group of two people was also heading upstairs.
As their eyes met Bai Yang's, it was evident that their gazes held many unspoken words.
With only a minute left, the werewolves from the dense forest had reached the main entrance and were banging on the large door.
Bai Yang withdrew her gaze and turned towards the room at the far end.
After entering her room, Ning Wei surveyed it. Apart from the bathroom, which resembled a murder scene, the rest was acceptable.
As the clock struck twelve, the werewolves pushed open the castle gates.
Ning Wei stood by the window, witnessing the werewolves break down the door and enter.
While she was peeking, the last werewolf to enter suddenly looked up at her.
Their gazes met. Ning Wei saw an unmistakable determination in its eyes, a desire to possess her.
The werewolf locked eyes with Ning Wei, momentarily forgetting its companions. Under their howls of urging, it reluctantly followed them inside.
Ning Wei let out a soft chuckle. She noticed that the last werewolf was limping.
This discovery filled Ning Wei with delight. It seemed the werewolves were not invincible after all.
If its leg was injured, that indicated a weakness.
The werewolf had entered the house. Ning Wei found a suitable axe inside, still bearing traces of flesh.
Standing at the bathroom door with disdain, she vigorously shook the axe handle, trying to dislodge the clinging remnants of meat.
It seemed the meat had adhered for too long, becoming stuck fast. Merely shaking the axe was insufficient.
However, it was equally impossible for Ning Wei to pick it off with her bare hands.
After much effort, Ning Wei finally gave up.
Carrying the axe, she walked to the bed, intending to make do for the night.
As she lifted a corner of the blanket, a dark, round head was revealed.
The bloodshot eyes on the head indicated that its owner had died with unresolved grievances.
Ning Wei muttered a curse under her breath and then forcefully covered the blanket.
Her gaze fell upon the single-seater sofa beside her. It appeared she would have to endure the night there.
She dragged the sofa to the center of the room, a position that allowed her to observe her surroundings. Her "murderous" axe was placed beside the sofa.
Ning Wei sank into the sofa, which was incredibly soft, giving one the urge to never leave once seated.
A woolen blanket was draped over the back of the sofa. Tonight, besides her righteousness, this was her only source of warmth.
The howls of the werewolves grew closer. They must have sensed the delicious human flesh hidden within the rooms, as they were now searching the entire castle.
Ning Wei lay on the sofa, her eyes narrowed, the sounds in her ears never ceasing.
There were screams, both male and female, and the frantic patter of feet running on the floor.
Yet, the door in front of Ning Wei remained undisturbed.
The werewolf had clearly fixated on her, but it hadn't found her door, which perplexed Ning Wei greatly.
As the night deepened, Ning Wei, exhausted, fumbled with her ring and drifted off to sleep.
The window was closed, but the curtains were not drawn.
Though moonlight couldn't penetrate, admiring the moon up close offered a unique romance.
After Ning Wei fell asleep, a werewolf climbed the castle's outer wall and reached the window.
As the window was shut tight, it could only grip the windowsill, drooling as it eyed Ning Wei sleeping soundly inside.
When the wall clock struck the hour during the day, it chimed with clear bird calls, lasting five minutes. Even the soundest sleeper would be awakened.
Ning Wei knew her teammates; they wouldn't dare open their doors easily. Thus, upon realizing it was morning, she was the first to step out of her room.
To her surprise, Bai Yang had emerged even earlier than her.
"You're out quite early," Ning Wei commented, regarding her thoughtfully.
Bai Yang opened her room door, gesturing for Ning Wei to look inside.
The room she had chosen had evidently seen many deaths; corpses were piled high on the bed, and a thick layer of dried blood covered the floor.
"I had no choice. I stayed awake with my eyes open until morning. When I heard the clock chime, I gathered my courage to come out for some air," Bai Yang explained helplessly.
Ning Wei glanced inside and casually remarked, "You certainly had a rough time."
