As the attendant was being smug, Ning Wei suddenly made her move.
She took a step back with one foot, grabbed the hand of the person behind her, and then threw him forward forcefully, instantly regaining her freedom.
The man was thrown in front of the attendant, who expressionlessly twisted his neck and tossed him onto the roadside.
"Because you avenged me, I'll leave you with an intact corpse."
The passengers watched the mangled body being devoured by wild ghosts, and in unison, no one spoke.
Ning Wei, meanwhile, had already passed the attendant and returned to her seat.
The attendant, who was the last to board, looked so angry that everyone held their breath.
If she was thwarted by Ning Wei, she would find other ways to lash out, and everyone dared not cross her path right now.
The attendant sneered, "Thirty people got off, twenty-seven got on. It seems you're not dying fast enough."
"When we're all dead, you can retire," Ning Wei's voice carried from the back row.
Now only Ning Wei sat in the last row; she could even lie down comfortably in her seat.
The attendant, thwarted again, stretched her neck out exceptionally far, and her head flew to Ning Wei's face, the violent tugging causing her long neck to creak.
"Is your neck made of play-doh?" Ning Wei quipped again.
This wasn't like her, as she was usually composed. Why was she provoking the attendant so much right after boarding?
The only explanation was that the attendant had deliberately caused her trouble before boarding. Now that they were on the bus, and the passengers came first, it was time for the attendant to suffer.
Just as the attendant's mouth parted to say something, a drop of blood, mixed with a foul, fishy stench, landed between Ning Wei's spread legs.
Ning Wei flicked the attendant on the forehead with her finger. The attendant's head snapped back to its original position as if hit by a massive force, her face filled with disbelief.
Ning Wei was merely demonstrating a skill she had honed for years; she was no ordinary person.
The attendant clearly sensed something and did not resist. Instead, she whispered something in the driver's ear. What she said was unknown.
However, after hearing it, the driver nearly drove the entire bus off a cliff.
The violent jolting made everyone's eyes widen. The thick fog dissipated, revealing that they were now on a single-lane mountain road.
Towering mountains stretched as far as the eye could see, with occasional flickers of distant lights accompanied by the eerie calls of owls.
The driver managed to steady the bus, and the terrified attendant ripped his head off, exclaiming, "If you want to die, don't drag me with you!"
As staff members, if their negligence caused a passenger's death, their afterlife would be in ruins.
The attendant did not want to perish with this simple-minded driver.
This was considered a minor incident. Since the terrified passengers were too stunned to speak, there were no complaints.
Little did they know, Ning Wei's voice rang out again, her tone filled with schadenfreude, "That's a serious work error."
There was no choice. The attendant could only try her best to appease Ning Wei, bringing out all the good food and drinks. Her attitude also did a complete one-eighty, becoming as gentle as possible.
The other passengers also benefited, enjoying the attendant's good service for a change during this leg of the journey.
Just as everyone was full, drowsy, and about to fall asleep, the bus suddenly stopped.
The attendant's shrill voice reappeared. She chuckled sinisterly, her gaze sweeping over the female passengers with ill intent, particularly fixing on the troublesome Ning Wei.
She was truly beautiful, but such exquisite looks would become her greatest burden here!
Hopefully, the people at this station would be strong enough to keep her here forever!
"Passengers, we have arrived at Shancun Station. Please disembark in an orderly fashion."
Everyone first opened their eyes and looked out the window.
A light mist hung in the air, and everything seemed indistinct, inducing a sense of fear.
"Please disembark quickly!" the attendant urged, her voice hoarse as if from heavy smoking, like an old woman.
This voice immediately reminded everyone of the previous station, the scene of being surrounded by ghosts burned to charcoal. Goosebumps erupted on everyone's skin.
Before the attendant could urge them a third time, the passengers, now at the front, got up and began to disembark.
As the first person moved, the others followed suit.
Ning Wei was, as always, the last to leave. As she passed, the attendant once again uttered a curse-like remark, "I hope you have fun here!"
Ning Wei retorted, "Certainly more fun than you on the bus!"
The attendant could never leave the bus; otherwise, she would be torn to shreds by other wild ghosts.
Ning Wei's words struck the attendant's chest like a heavy hammer. Enraged, she ground her teeth, causing them to shatter and fall to the ground.
Ning Wei smiled, stepping over the attendant's fallen teeth, and alighted the bus with steady footing.
Once all passengers had disembarked, the bus door immediately closed, and the driver, with the furious attendant, sped away.
The passengers, led by Song Zhi, had already reached the dilapidated bus station. A wooden sign stood there, bearing the words "Shancun Station" in blood-red paint, as if untouched by time.
What terrified them the most was the small corpses surrounding the station, some so rotten that it was impossible to tell if they were human or animal.
Just as Fu Chengwei was about to sit on a wooden bench to wait, like Ning Wei, he looked down and saw a fresh, small hand by his feet.
"Ah!" Fu Chengwei's scream was so loud it startled the birds hiding in the thick fog.
The others quickly looked over and were also terrified.
This was the first time they had seen such a fresh corpse.
After the first arm was discovered, other parts of the corpse also appeared within the station.
A small head, tiny arms, and two slightly thicker thighs – this was unmistakably an infant's corpse!
The sound of an infant's crying suddenly arose, particularly chilling in the silent station.
Terrified, Fu Chengwei grabbed Ning Wei, only to have his wrist gripped by Ning Wei, his pained cries abruptly silenced.
A gust of wind blew, carrying away the crying and bringing forth a hunched-over elderly person carrying an oil lamp.
He looked no different from an ordinary person, so their guard lowered slightly.
"I apologize for being late. Please follow me. The village has made preparations."
