Madam Jade

Chapter 12 Xingfu Residential Area Eight

The mention of "mother" made the female ghost withdraw her hand.

Ning Wei was about to get up and have a heart-to-heart talk with her, but the ghost waved her hand, and Ning Wei collapsed back onto the bed.

After Ning Wei lost consciousness, the female ghost reached out and touched the dress she was wearing.

It was a new-style cheongsam, gray-white all over, with a layer of exquisite lace on the outside.

Ning Wei's figure was perfectly showcased in the dress, with curves in all the right places, a slender waist and long legs, making her a gentle yet sexy girl.

The female ghost's expression shifted slightly, and she disappeared again.

After Ning Wei lost consciousness, her soul seemed to leave her body and enter another environment.

It was an ordinary morning, and a woman walked past with a little boy.

Ning Wei immediately recognized the woman as the female ghost and quickly followed her.

At this moment, the female ghost was gentle and lovely, chatting and laughing with her child on the way to kindergarten, reminding him to behave and eat well.

After dropping the child off at kindergarten, the female ghost went to the market to buy groceries and a breakfast for herself.

Returning home, she ate while looking at her phone.

After breakfast, she began to get busy. There were piles of clothes to wash and bed linens to change. There was a little dust on the furniture that needed cleaning.

After finishing these chores, she could lie on the sofa and rest for a while.

In the afternoon, she picked up her child from school, chatted with him, and when the clock struck five-thirty, she told the child to play in the living room while she went to cook.

With a large family of four adults and one child, she was solely responsible for cooking.

After dinner, she diligently cleared the dishes.

After nine-thirty, it was time for the child to bathe and sleep. She did all of this alone, with no one to help her.

Lying on the bed with her child, she could use this time to play on her phone.

However, Ning Wei saw many storybooks on the bedside table, suggesting that bedtime stories were also her responsibility.

The child was energetic and tossed and turned on the bed for at least half an hour before falling asleep.

Once the child was asleep and the other family members had retired to their rooms, she had to clean up the messy living room.

Only after finishing all these tasks did the day finally end.

The female ghost looked a little tired. Lying on the bed, she still had to cover her child with a quilt. She dared not turn over to sleep, fearing she wouldn't notice if the child woke up in the middle of the night.

Ning Wei stood at the head of the bed and watched the female ghost slowly fall asleep.

Having followed her for a whole day, Ning Wei realized she was just an ordinary housewife.

Throughout the day, her phone had not rung once, and she hadn't contacted any friends.

Seeing this, Ning Wei found it impossible to understand why she had died.

Was it suicide or murder?

As the female ghost slept, her pajama sleeve moved up as she shifted. In the dim light from outside, Ning Wei saw something strange on her arm.

Just as she was about to lower her head to get a closer look, a pulling force yanked her out of that world.

Ning Wei opened her eyes and looked out the window. It was already broad daylight. She felt as if she had woken from a dream and remained in bed for a long time.

Outside, Fu Chengwei had been waiting for her for a long time, but he didn't dare open the door to the side bedroom.

Ning Wei reviewed everything that had happened in the dream, then took off the dress and found another one to wear.

When she changed and came out of the master bedroom, Fu Chengwei was so anxious that he slapped his thigh. "Don't wear her clothes anymore! She came to turn off the lights again last night. It scared me to death!"

"I know, I saw her last night," Ning Wei said.

Fu Chengwei looked startled yet curious and tentatively asked, "So... what did you talk about last night?"

Ning Wei glanced at Fu Chengwei. "I'm not telling you. Don't be here when you hear noises from the kitchen today. I need to be alone with her."

Fu Chengwei gave her a thumbs-up. "You're amazing. Is there anything else you need me to do?"

Ning Wei shook her head. "Go find Song Zhi next door now."

Fu Chengwei didn't want to stay there for another second. If he hadn't been worried that Ning Wei might die after wearing the female ghost's clothes and if he hadn't been too afraid to check on her, he wouldn't have waited in the living room for so long.

He quickly opened the door to find Song Zhi, but to his surprise, he opened it to the foul-mouthed landlady.

"What are you knocking for! What are you knocking for! How many times have I told you people from 1001 to stay away from my house? You're so annoying!"

The landlady unleashed a tirade like a firecracker, not giving Fu Chengwei a chance to speak. After she finished, she immediately slammed the door shut.

Fu Chengwei was left with nothing but a bruised nose and could only wait in the small garden below, which was their agreed meeting spot.

What was originally a group effort had now become Ning Wei's solo mission, for no other reason than she was the only one who had seen the female ghost.

Among the passengers, this was no secret.

In the small garden, Fu Chengwei not only met Song Zhi but also the others.

He shared everything without reservation, telling them about what Ning Wei had done last night and what she had instructed him to do this morning.

Someone expressed doubt. "If only she met the female ghost, will we all fail to get our bus tickets when the time comes?"

"Probably not. We all entered together. As long as we don't do anything stupid, we should be able to get our bus tickets after Ning Wei negotiates with the female ghost."

While this was said, no one was entirely sure, so they continued to act separately, striving to gather more information.

Ning Wei sat on the sofa, wearing a dress and watching television. When the clock hands pointed to eleven, the sound of the kitchen started.

Ning Wei immediately pushed open the kitchen door and addressed the sink. "How did you die?"

The sound of washing vegetables abruptly stopped. Ning Wei felt a chill envelop her, and a deep voice in her ear said, "Get out!"

"Did you commit suicide?" Ning Wei asked fearlessly.

The surrounding chill intensified, clearly indicating that the female ghost was very angry.

However, she said nothing, and in the blink of an eye, Ning Wei was back on the sofa.

Although the female ghost was angry, she did not harm her.

The kitchen sliding door slammed shut, and the sound of cooking resumed as usual.

After the sounds stopped, Ning Wei did not hear the words "Dinner is ready," but instead, a cold wind whispered in her ear, "You really want to know the reason. Go and investigate. If you can find out, I will give you your bus tickets."

The words were full of challenge and brimming with confidence.

The female ghost clearly knew that people in the neighborhood were very wary of her existence, and Ning Wei and the others would likely be unable to obtain any information.

"I'll give you a hint. Go out now, and you might have an unexpected discovery." After saying this, the cold air disappeared, indicating that she had left.

Ning Wei was an obedient child, so she went out as the female ghost had told her.

As soon as she opened the door, she saw two little boys standing by the elevator. The older one was about ten years old, and the younger one was only six.
