Ning Wei felt a sense of being relied upon, and her emotions were complex.
She had always acted impulsively before, but deep down, she knew many passengers couldn't accept her methods. They only kept quiet because of her abilities, not daring to speak up.
But with Tang Tang, Ning Wei felt a dependence, yet not an excessive one.
Tang Tang dared to go with her to rescue people and diligently completed the tasks Ning Wei assigned her to investigate.
"Are these two hyenas still not awake?" Ning Wei asked Tang Tang.
Tang Tang shook her head, "I heard the anesthetic will take about three hours to wear off."
Ning Wei rubbed her hands together, looking eager.
Tang Tang immediately guessed her thoughts, "You don't mean you want to go in and check, do you?"
"How can I know if they're real hyenas or people without going in to feel them?"
Tang Tang quickly stopped her, "If they're real, you can't beat them!"
Ning Wei glanced at Tang Tang, then produced a wire from who knows where. "You go to Mei Nan and the others. I'll be out soon."
It was clear Ning Wei was determined to go in. Tang Tang looked at the deeply sleeping hyenas and finally made up her mind.
"You go. I'll keep watch here!" Ning Wei found it amusing to see Tang Tang look like she was sacrificing herself for a noble cause.
However, it wasn't the time for jokes; they needed to confirm the identities of these two hyenas first.
Ning Wei fiddled with the lock using the wire, while Tang Tang watched the surroundings like a thief.
Their actions were akin to robbing a jewelry store.
One had to admit Ning Wei's psychological resilience was immense. During this time, people walked by, and she immediately stopped what she was doing, acting as if nothing had happened, and could even greet them normally.
In this way, with constant interruptions, she finally managed to open the lock.
When Tang Tang heard the "click," she knew it was done.
"You even know how to pick locks. Were you a thief before?" It was no wonder she thought this; the skills Ning Wei usually displayed were not those of an ordinary person.
Ning Wei rolled her eyes, then entered the cage and gently closed it, but not all the way.
It would be a lie to say she wasn't scared. She tiptoed slowly, afraid of waking the two hyenas.
As she got closer, the two hyenas didn't even lift an eyelid. They seemed to be truly unconscious.
Ning Wei took a deep breath and boldly walked forward, then felt around the hyenas, carefully sensing the texture beneath her hands.
After feeling both of them, Tang Tang, outside, was so nervous she was biting her lip.
"That's enough, hurry and come out!" Tang Tang urged in a low voice.
Ning Wei had her answer and walked out quickly.
The moment she stepped out of the cage, she could clearly hear Tang Tang's breathing.
"You weren't the one going in, why are you so nervous!"
"I'm worried about you! You're too bold!"
Ning Wei secured the lock, ensuring it was properly closed, before replying, "You can't catch a tiger cub without going into the tiger's den. I've gained a lot from this!"
Tang Tang immediately leaned in curiously, looking like she was begging Ning Wei to tell her quickly.
Ning Wei whispered in her ear, "These are two people wearing hyena skins. They are most likely those two passengers."
Tang Tang wanted to ask how she could be so sure, but Ning Wei pushed her away, "Go tell the others quickly!"
This was the priority. Tang Tang immediately went to the adjacent park.
Meanwhile, Ning Wei stood outside the cage, still recalling the feel of their skin.
The bones of animals and humans are different. Moreover, the fur of these two hyenas couldn't be lifted at all; it felt as if it was tightly attached to their flesh. Based on these two points alone, she could determine they were not real hyenas.
However, it had only been less than a day since these two passengers were taken away by the park director, or perhaps just one night, and he could successfully change their skin. This made Ning Wei even more vigilant.
This park director was more unfathomable than she had imagined!
Because of Ning Wei's discovery, everyone lost their appetite at lunch.
Everyone was filled with fear, afraid they would be the next to have their skin changed.
They all quietly discussed how to avoid contact with the park director. However, the director was like a ghost, appearing before them from time to time, making it impossible to guard against.
Seeing their intense discussion, Ning Wei spoke up, "Don't forget there are hidden rules. If you touch the rules just to avoid the director, the outcome will be the same: death."
Someone proposed a different opinion, "So far, no one has died from touching any rules. Instead, those who interact with the director disappear. Perhaps there are no rules here?"
Everyone had different opinions on this matter, and no one could convince the other. Ning Wei, however, was too lazy to argue with these people.
She finished eating and left. Tang Tang quickly followed.
"Ning Wei, don't be angry. We're a team, and it's normal to have different opinions."
"I'm not angry," Ning Wei said, somewhat speechless. Did leaving after finishing her meal mean she was angry?
"It's almost been three hours. I'm going to check if those two hyenas have woken up."
Tang Tang hurried to follow. When they reached the park, they saw the director, Deputy Director Fu, and Chen Qi standing outside the hyena cages.
Tang Tang felt a bit nervous, but Ning Wei walked forward fearlessly.
"You've returned after lunch," the director greeted Ning Wei and Tang Tang as amiably as ever.
"Yes, this park is a bit far from the cafeteria. I feel it's a waste of time to walk back and forth, so we ate together. Don't worry, Director, we will definitely not delay work or waste time."
Listening to Ning Wei's rapid-fire speech, the director didn't know what to say.
"Good, good. I greatly appreciate your work attitude. You can be our employee representative at the next general meeting to give a speech." This was the Deputy Director's suggestion.
He probably saw that Ning Wei had rendered the director speechless and came out to ease the atmosphere.
Ning Wei nodded repeatedly, expressing her satisfaction that their leader appreciated her work attitude.
"These two hyenas haven't woken up yet. Please let us know when they do. Pay close attention to their physical condition and absolutely do not let anything go wrong," the director instructed Ning Wei before leaving.
"Don't worry, Director, I guarantee the task will be completed!"
The director no longer wanted to speak with her and quickly pulled the Deputy Director away.
"Ning Wei, you're amazing," Tang Tang gave her a thumbs-up. She was genuinely impressed by Ning Wei's ability to speak so volubly, like a torrent of beans, leaving the director speechless.
"If you talk enough, he'll have nothing to say. You can try that next time," Ning Wei earnestly shared her experience with Tang Tang.
Tang Tang nodded repeatedly, though whether she could achieve it depended on herself.
The anesthetic time had passed, and the two fake hyenas still hadn't woken up.
