Chapter 68 Finding a House Part 5

Seeing her so serious, Ning Wei finally made a decision.

Bored, Ning Wei walked over to where Fu Chengwei and the others were.

Fu Chengwei was lying on the bed, utterly despondent. Ning Wei walked over, and he didn't even acknowledge her. "What's wrong with him?"

Song Zhi chuckled and took a medical record from a drawer. Fu Chengwei tried to stop him, but Ning Wei was faster.

The thought of Ning Wei seeing his medical record made Fu Chengwei bury his head under the quilt, refusing to engage with anyone.

Ning Wei glanced at it twice, then let out a long "Oh," "So that's..."

"Don't say it, don't say it!" Fu Chengwei shot up, as if he'd die if Ning Wei uttered those words.

After roughhousing in Fu Chengwei's ward for a while, Ning Wei sauntered back to the nurse's station.

Lan Lingling, who had changed into a clean white coat, walked out while fussing with her hair.

"Strange, why do I keep feeling hair floating around my face?" she muttered softly.

Ning Wei glanced over. The female ghost had bent down, placing her head on Lan Lingling's head, which was why Lan Lingling felt hair on her face.

It wasn't an illusion; the ghost's hair completely obscured Lan Lingling's face, leaving only a small gap.

Lan Lingling's vision suddenly blurred, and she didn't notice a stool at her feet. She walked into it, stumbled, and her forehead hit the corner of the table, immediately breaking open and bleeding.

She clutched her head, groaning softly. The ghost, even more brazen, tossed her hair around.

Since this was not the same guiding white-dressed ghost from before, Ning Wei felt no apprehension.

Lan Lingling was injured, and Ning Wei felt she had gotten some revenge.

Seeing the ghost's hair beginning to creep towards Lan Lingling's body, Ning Wei knew it was time to act.

Ning Wei's blood could ward off ghosts. She pricked her finger with her fingernail, drawing blood. Before it could dry, she quickly ran over to help Lan Lingling up, pretending to check her injury, and wiped her blood on Lan Lingling's forehead. The ghost's hair immediately receded.

Thinking that Lan Lingling would surely clean it off when she treated her wound, Ning Wei squeezed her finger hard and wiped the blood onto Lan Lingling's hair.

The red blood wasn't very noticeable against the black hair, and Ning Wei even looked twice to confirm.

With the blood there, the ghost could only watch from a distance.

Lan Lingling had been led away by colleagues, leaving only Ning Wei and the ghost facing each other.

Because Ning Wei had opposed the ghost, the ghost was furious. It lunged at Ning Wei, baring its teeth, its clothes soaked with blood, its internal organs visible.

Ning Wei pondered, "You died on the operating table. Why do you want to kill this nurse? Did she cause your death?"

If the ghost hadn't acted out in anger, Ning Wei wouldn't have seen its appearance before death.

If her guess about a causal link was correct, then she couldn't interfere.

But the ghost had no intention of letting Ning Wei understand the cause of its death. It couldn't kill Lan Lingling and now only wanted to kill Ning Wei to vent its rage!

Unfortunately, it was no match for Ning Wei. Ning Wei formed a hand seal, and the ghost was directly repelled, though not completely dispelled.

Having dealt with the ghost, Ning Wei knew what to do next.

Lan Lingling had a connection with Dr. Yang Shuo, and this ghost wanted to kill Lan Lingling. What was the connection? Was this hospital negligent with life?

These questions needed answers, and Ning Wei knew it was time to find something for those passengers to do.

Returning to the ward, Ning Wei yanked off Zhu Yilian's blanket, "Someone died during surgery in this hospital."

Zhu Yilian was initially angry about being disturbed from her sleep, but after hearing this, she immediately sat up.

"Are you sure?"

"I fought with that ghost. She was constantly pursuing Lan Lingling. She must have died in this hospital, and she was wearing a patient gown with her stomach cut open."

Zhu Yilian, frightened, quickly clutched her stomach, "What should I do then?"

Although Zhu Yilian wasn't the brightest, she wasn't stupid either.

She had asked Ning Wei for help before and been refused. Now that Ning Wei was actively giving her information, she must need her to do something.

Ning Wei looked at Zhu Yilian with an appreciative gaze, "I need to know when Yang Shuo entered the hospital, how many patients have died since he started working here, and preferably, find out if any patients died at his hands."

Zhu Yilian looked troubled, "I'll try my best to complete it."

Ning Wei nodded, "I'll be responsible for finding ghosts, and you all will be responsible for carrying out the tasks. I only want the answers. Whether you can achieve it is your business."

Ning Wei deliberately used the word "you all" to subtly remind Zhu Yilian that she didn't have to do this alone.

Zhu Yilian understood the implication and her face lit up, "I understand. Don't worry, and be careful when you go out."

Collaborating with Zhu Yilian and then involving other passengers through her was the first step Ning Wei took.

She also kept her word. Knowing everyone was afraid of seeing ghosts, she took responsibility for that task.

Ning Wei went to find Lan Lingling first. She had already had her wound treated with the help of colleagues. The bloodstain was still on her hair, and the ghost was no longer by her side.

Seeing Ning Wei approach, Lan Lingling immediately stood up, "Is there something you need?"

Ning Wei shook her head and walked away.

Lan Lingling sat down, utterly confused.

As for why her attitude towards Ning Wei had suddenly changed, it was because when she fell, although her vision was blurry, she knew Ning Wei had helped her up.

No matter what conflict they had, since the other party had helped her, Lan Lingling felt awkward about being cold or sarcastic.

Ning Wei walked around the hospital but didn't see any ghosts.

Returning to the ward, Zhu Yilian and Yuanyuan were not there. It seemed they were also working hard for her.

Unable to find any ghosts, Ning Wei lay down to sleep.

Zhu Yilian and the others were out for a long time and hadn't returned. Lan Lingling came in for a check-up, and Ning Wei brushed her off.

Ning Wei slept until dark. In a daze, the ward door was opened.

Seeing the lump under Ning Wei's blanket, knowing she was asleep, Zhu Yilian whispered to Yuanyuan, "Be quiet, Ning Wei is sleeping."

Yuanyuan nodded and made an "okay" gesture with her hand.

But just as they were about to enter, Ning Wei herself sat up.

"You're back," Ning Wei said, rubbing her eyes, to the two standing at the doorway.

Zhu Yilian turned on the light, "Yes, we found something. Is it convenient to talk now?"

Ning Wei nodded, gesturing for Zhu Yilian to close the door.

The three squeezed onto one bed and began to whisper.

An Xin needed too much information, so Zhu Yilian couldn't find it all out quickly.

What they knew so far was that Yang Shuo had come here ten years ago. After graduating from college, he interned there and, due to his good performance, was directly contracted by the hospital.
