The last image Ning Wei saw was this.
Fragrant, she opened her eyes and found herself surrounded by female ghosts again.
They had returned to their original appearances, wearing red dresses and white flowers, like brides.
"Am I beautiful?" all the female ghosts asked the same question.
Ning Wei's head was about to explode from the question. She kicked away a female ghost and shouted into the air, "Yinyin! Yinyin!"
"I'm here." Yinyin's appearance was always accompanied by a chill. Ning Wei felt the surrounding air drop several degrees.
Even though she was in a dream, she still had the urge to shiver.
Yinyin was still as beautiful, but with a hint of resentment between her brows.
She was Young Master Zhou's first and only冥婚 (minghun - ghost marriage) wife, the one without even a tombstone.
"You've shown me the past, what do you need me to do?"
"You are indeed clever." Yinyin's entire body suddenly contorted, like a piece of cloth, wrapping around Ning Wei from her feet upwards, finally meeting her head.
Ning Wei tried to break free, but the red cloth, though appearing soft, was incredibly tough.
"Don't struggle, you can't get out."
"You've been bothering me for so long, you don't just want to tie me up, do you? Tell me what you want me to do, and I'll consider whether to cooperate."
Yinyin's slender fingers tapped Ning Wei's forehead. The icy touch sent a shiver down her spine.
The feeling of being bound slowly disappeared. In the blink of an eye, Yinyin was standing before her.
"It was just an illusion. You can't even see through this, what else can I expect from you?"
Ning Wei finally realized she had fallen for it. There was no red cloth, it was all a trick of the eye, and she had been completely absorbed in it.
However, Ning Wei remained unfazed. "If you didn't fancy my skills, why would you go to such lengths to pull me into your dream? If you don't tell me soon, it will be dawn."
Yinyin covered her mouth and chuckled. "You're really confident, aren't you?"
Her tone shifted. "Since you've seen the past, I want to know what you're thinking?"
What could Ning Wei be thinking? She wanted to explode!
A family that sold their daughter for glory, Young Master Zhou who was still not at peace even after death, and Master Zhou who, in his doting on his son, disregarded the life of another's daughter. All of this made Ning Wei furious.
In the dream, she had tried to reach out, but it was as if there was a wall in front of her, and she couldn't touch anyone.
"What was their fate?" Ning Wei asked Yinyin back.
Yinyin's eyes were vacant as she looked into the distance. "Brother and sister-in-law married and had a strange baby. The sister-in-law was so frightened that she went mad. One night, while tending the fire in the kitchen, she burned the entire family to death."
Ning Wei was very satisfied with this ending. She nodded and continued to ask about others.
"The others, of course, were fine. They all lived out their natural lives."
"No! That's not the ending I want!" Ning Wei retorted immediately.
Yinyin looked at her with confusion. "Then what kind of ending do you want?"
Ning Wei sneered. "Naturally, none of them should escape! To be unable to live, unable to die, the pain and despair of being nailed alive in a coffin, can that be so easily let go?"
Yinyin fell silent. How she wished it could be like that. But these people had Young Master Zhou backing them. As long as he was around, none of this would have happened.
Recalling being trapped in the coffin, hearing her only hope gradually recede, she had scratched her nails raw. The inside of the coffin was covered in bloodstains from her struggles.
The culprit, listened to her painful struggles through a wooden plank.
When she finally stopped breathing, her soul left her body, and the next second, a pair of large hands grabbed her and pulled her into another coffin.
This coffin was even more luxurious, with a lot of treasures placed inside.
The coffin swayed, and Yinyin felt this was true death.
The small white flower on her head never fell, bearing witness to Yinyin's funeral.
Unfortunately, Young Master Zhou had absolute control in Qiuyin Village. She had no way to intervene.
"Forget it, I'll send you back." Yinyin wanted to push Ning Wei out of the dream.
Ning Wei reached out and grabbed her. "Think carefully. You only have one chance. Once the thick fog dissipates, I will never look back!"
"But what can you do?" Yinyin asked desperately.
"I can destroy him! My blood is the bane of ghosts!" Ning Wei confidently revealed her trump card.
Yinyin had also witnessed this blood. A single drop could revert her sisters to their original forms. If it were truly used against Young Master Zhou, it wasn't entirely hopeless.
"Then what do you want me to do?" The situation had reversed, and Yinyin became the one who was unsure.
"You were with him the longest, so you naturally know his weakness."
Yinyin shook her head. If she knew his weakness, she would have acted long ago. After all, she and Young Master Zhou were both old ghosts, and Zhou had only died a few days before her.
"He's very powerful. I've told you, he has absolute control in Qiuyin Village. This is his domain!"
"Then why did you pull me into your dream tonight? Aren't you afraid of him finding out? There must be something you can do to hide it from him."
Ning Wei was getting anxious. How could Yinyin, who seemed so capable, be such a pushover?
She had been buried alive, and after becoming a ghost, she had been defiled. How could she still be so weak, having the ability but not daring to act?
"You disrupted the ghost marriage tonight, and he had to deal with it, so there was an opportunity to pull you into the dream."
"So, as long as something distracts him, it's convenient for us to act, right?"
Yinyin nodded slightly.
Since the two of them began to discuss important matters, the group of female ghosts who had been pestering her with "Am I beautiful?" dispersed. They formed a circle around Ning Wei and Yinyin, ready to notify Yinyin immediately if Young Master Zhou made any move.
It was evident that these female ghosts were truly terrified of this Young Master Zhou. However, it wasn't too bad. At least, deep down, they still wanted to resist.
It was just that after being suppressed for so long, their spirits had also been subdued. Now, all they needed was a leader.
Since they were already ghosts, how much worse could it get?
It was better to take a gamble, avenge themselves, and get justice for their sisters.
Ning Wei's eloquence was remarkable. She managed to turn Young Master Zhou's harem into her own helpers.
Time was pressing, and she and Yinyin wasted no more time.
Since Yinyin was unable to act, Ning Wei would investigate herself. However, she knew too little about this Young Master Zhou, so Yinyin had to tell her all the information she knew.
Yinyin began from the beginning.
Her family had come here as refugees. At that time, the Zhou family was already the wealthiest in the village and held the position of village head. Anyone who wanted to stay in the village had to get their permission.
They lived in the village for a year and never saw this Young Master Zhou. They only heard of his existence and inquired about him out of curiosity. Everyone said that this Young Master Zhou was in poor health and had always been kept in seclusion.
Not only their family, but other families also said they had never seen such a Young Master Zhou.
