Madam Jade

Chapter 189 Ocean Park Twenty-Three

Everyone was a little nervous. Nothing could be heard from inside; it was too quiet.

Song Zhi, who had gone in, wasn't having an easy time either. The place was like a dark elevator, not very large.

A walrus occupied ninety percent of the space, leaving the remaining ten percent for Song Zhi to explore.

He cautiously reached out his hand to touch the walls. They were cold and smooth, likely made of large metal sheets.

Song Zhi felt around for a bit. Opposite the large iron door that was open, he found a subtle seam. He understood what was going on and then went back outside.

As soon as he appeared, everyone crowded around him.

"How was it?" they all asked him in unison.

Song Zhi replied, "The space isn't large; a walrus takes up a lot of room. I felt around a bit. There should be another door on the other side. This walrus came in through that door to here, and then this door opened, allowing it to get out."

From his description, everyone could roughly picture what it was like inside.

"Do you think it's possible to open that other door to get out?" Zhu Yilian asked Song Zhi curiously.

Song Zhi looked troubled. "It's hard to say. The main issue is we don't know where that door leads. What if it opens into the space full of walruses that were chasing Bai Yang and the others? That would be walking right into a trap."

With his hint, everyone understood that this door wasn't a reliable option either.

Bai Yang said slowly, "I took a look at the room with the walruses. There were at least thirty to forty of them, big and small. So, if that's what's behind this door, we have no chance of escaping."

Bai Yang's words completely dashed their hopes. They had finally seen a glimmer of hope, only for it to be extinguished so quickly.

"Is it possible that the key is in this room? And they suddenly released a walrus, just to kill us?" Mei Nan thought for a moment, believing the walrus had a different mission.

It was like a reading comprehension test, but unfortunately, Mei Nan's thought process was flawed.

Because Zhang Haiyang genuinely just couldn't stand their passivity, he had released a walrus to give them some excitement.

But they didn't know that. They thought it was part of Zhang Haiyang's unfathomable plan.

Everyone agreed with Mei Nan's theory.

Someone who could use an aquarium as a trap and then select people for scientific experiments.

According to him, he had persisted in this ideal for many years, and his ability to remain undiscovered for so long was proof of his deep scheming.

"So, this walrus is still an important clue?"

Mei Nan nodded, then thought it was best not to be too absolute. He quickly added, "It's not a hundred percent, but we can try. We've already searched everywhere else, and there's definitely no key."

Everyone understood this. They all wanted to get out, so trying wouldn't hurt.

However, with the walrus blocking the entrance, it was impossible to search properly. The room was pitch black, and nothing could be seen.

Therefore, the only option was to find a way to drag it out.

Everyone pitched in, each testing their strength against the walrus.

They were already very hungry and low on stamina. Facing such a massive walrus, they felt helpless.

"Why don't we try working together? A few people go inside and push, while we pull from the outside," Yuan Yuan suggested.

Everyone agreed.

This time, there was no need for discussion. People quickly volunteered to go inside.

Among them was Tang Tang, who had been eyeing the walrus since Song Zhi had gone in to inspect it.

Impatiently, she stepped onto the walrus and bounced on her tiptoes twice.

Zhu Yilian, walking behind her, reminded her, "Stop playing. If you step on its belly and it bursts, you'll be covered in guts!"

The thought of that scene made Tang Tang feel disgusted.

Although she knew Zhu Yilian was trying to scare her, Tang Tang obediently followed, no longer bouncing playfully on the walrus.

Due to the confined space inside the room, a total of five people went in. They stood in various corners, barely managing to fit.

"Are you all in position?" Mei Nan called from outside.

"Yes," the five people inside replied in unison.

Those outside also took their positions. Ning Wei and Li Ye grabbed the walrus's tusks, while others held onto different parts.

"Listen to my command!" Mei Nan shouted again. Everyone got ready. As soon as he gave the order, they would all exert their strength.

Their stamina was low, so every bit of effort had to be put to good use.

"One, two, three, PULL~"

Mei Nan stretched out the word, fearing the people inside wouldn't hear him clearly.

As the word "pull" was uttered, everyone began to exert their strength.

"Push harder!"

With everyone's effort, the walrus moved slightly.

Everyone was excited. Seizing the momentum, Mei Nan began to direct them again.

Unnoticed by anyone, a faint red glow emanated from the bead inside Li Ye's clothing.

Veins bulged on his fair hand. Following Mei Nan's command, he actually pulled out a tusk!

Blood spurted out. Li Ye was dumbfounded. He held a complete tusk in his hand, one end still attached to blood and flesh, with blood slowly dripping down.

Everyone was even more bewildered. This thing was supposed to be as strong as a human tooth; how could it be pulled out so easily?

Ning Wei instinctively looked at the tusk in her hand and pulled. It didn't budge at all.

The people inside didn't know what had happened; they only felt the pulling from outside had stopped.

Tang Tang protested loudly from inside, "Where did the people outside go? Are you expecting us few with our thin arms and legs to push this walrus out?"

"Hold on a moment, there's a problem. Why don't you come out and take a look?" Mei Nan replied.

Tang Tang was curious. She whispered to the others, "I'll go take a look and be right back."

When she came out, she was also dumbfounded. "Are the teeth less stable after it dies?"

Ning Wei glared at her. "What do you think?"

That explanation didn't hold up, and Tang Tang stuck out her tongue.

"Are we continuing?" Tang Tang asked Mei Nan.

Mei Nan looked at Li Ye, who was still examining the walrus's tusks. "Are you joining in?"

Li Ye nodded. He threw the tusk on the ground and walked over.

Seeing this, Tang Tang quickly returned to the room.

Stepping on the walrus's corpse for the second time, Tang Tang was no longer scared.

Everyone gathered around again. This time, Li Ye placed his hands on the walrus's head.

Ning Wei's hands remained on the tusk. It seemed she was determined to tackle the tusk this time.

"Is everyone ready?" Mei Nan asked.

"Ready," everyone inside and outside replied.

Everyone pushed again. The bead inside Li Ye's clothing began to exert its power once more.

A faint light entered his body. Li Ye lowered his head, his eyeballs turning red, but only for a moment.
