Chapter 69: Chapter 69: Stamina Anabolism
Ashe brought over the string to Siderius.
The string was made with care and it wasn’t just any thread you could find out in the market. It was made with a resistance fiber, harvested from the tree. Then, each fiber was weaved and twisted together to form a unified resilience piece of string.
The string was not elastic. It had strength and durability. In contrast to common misconception, a string of the bow could not be flexible, that would ruin the bow.
A bowstring must be tough and durable. Only a slingshot or a modified sling needed a stretchable string.
Then it was time to put the string onto the bow. This task was much more difficult than Ashe’s expectation.
Siderius tied the bowstring on one nock of the bow. Then he placed that nock on the ground, over to his far foot to secure it.
Siderius used his knee to apply pressure on the middle of the bow, bending it down and putting tension onto the bow, making it curved inward.
The bow slowly changed from an arrow shape to the shape of the letter D. Once it was in this state, Siderius grabbed the bowstring and pulled it over to the top nock.
He tied the string, securing the bow and its tension.
"It is finished."
Siderius grabbed a bow at the handle and held it high. He’s trying to have a feel of the bow.
"Not bad. Bring me the arrow." Siderius said.
Ashe nodded and brought a handful of arrows to him. They crafted this while also shaping Ashe’s bow. Crafting arrows was much easier than a bow. The only difficult part was finding a suitable glue to attach the feathers onto the arrows.
Siderius had used a special mixture of tree resin and other materials to create the glue. And the feathers were from hunted geese.
They weren’t perfect arrows as the tips were missing. Usually an iron tip made by a blacksmith would be preferable. But Siderius didn’t have any at the moment.
Arrow tips were also a controlled goods inside of Mucktown so buying it wasn’t cheap. The hunters didn’t sell their arrow tips and the remaining blacksmith surely wouldn’t make them for Siderius as well.
With enough Iron and Mercury. Siderius could make his own arrow tips. But he lacked both of them at the moment. So in the end, Siderius used obsidian to make the arrow tips.
Obsidian was plentiful in the foothills. It was worse than Iron but sufficient enough to be used as arrow tips for now.
Siderius took an arrow and loaded it in. He pulled the bow to its maximum draw length. The bow had a heavy draw weight.
He released the string. The bow released a high-pitched noise and sent the arrow flying. It pierced through the bark of a tree and stuck inside the wood.
"More than a hundred pounds of draw weight. Quite heavy."
Siderius rotated his wrist. One simple shot and it already made him feel the tension in the muscle. It was too strong for him even now.
"Woah!" Ashe watched everything with glee.
"You can make your own bow soon, my apprentice. Once you reach Silver, it will be your first creation."
"I understand, Master."
"Now. Onto the next thing."
Siderius had successfully crafted a bow. This weapon should help him a lot in hunting and range combat.
At the moment, he had no intention of running around. Lyara must be looking for him. And Leona was probably pissed because he had killed her servant. It was best to lay low.
So, Siderius thought that it was time to train this rigid and fragile body of his.
There were seven spirits that could help the attributes of his body to grow, each corresponding to an attribute. Strength, Agility, Perception, Stamina and Endurance. This type of spirit was called Attribute Anabolism.
Due to the nature of Attribute Anabolism, only one could be consumed at a time. Different spirits would hinder one and another, therefore it was discouraged to have multiple Attribute Anabolism at the same time.
Perception was the first that Sidedius exempted. Siderius’ mutation was already enhancing his perception and it would only grow more in the future. Extima Rank also focused a lot on perception. Eyes, ears, nose were all Extima Mutations that would improve his perception.
Now he had to choose between Strength, Agility, Stamina and Endurance.
Siderius chose to work on his Stamina first. Stamina allowed him to prolong his activity. This also included Attribute Training, which would benefit the other attributes in the future.
It also helped him use Alchemical Sigils more in the heat of battle as Sigils use Stamina as fuel.
"Access Spirits Library. List the information of Stamina Anabolism." Siderius said.
