Chapter 184: The Heirship Ritual! Part-3
{Ritual Room 2, Dungeons, Greengrass Manor}
{31th Oct 1991}
{Rigel’s POV}

The forced calmness was familiar. It was similar to the feeling that I had gotten used to throughout my time in this world. Although mind and soul were pretty much abstract things in my previous world, these abilities made it pretty clear that things were quite different.
Along with abilities related to mind and soul, the rituals had been an eye-opener. According to Daphne, the Rituals were lost to time, and although a lot of people still research them, their success rate was pretty low. I had thus focused on runes and wards a lot more, but with the chamber incident behind me, it would be prudent to shift that area of study slightly.
’Most of the actually useful rituals are probably lost to time. The Black Family Library or Bault might have some more rituals that might be helpful, but aren’t my abilities particularly geared toward researching them? Finding a new successful ritual might be a shot in the dark for almost everyone, but I’m pretty sure that with my constantly leveling abilities, I wouldn’t be blind much longer.’
There was another clear reason why I wanted to focus on it, as the limits of my physical stats changed for the first time post-ritual.

’Not only did I gain a +10 in the limit of my reflexes, but I also got a +5 Boost to Reflexes from that Ritual... That means someone like Voldemort, who has abused Rituals to turn himself into a half-snake, would likely have similar but more exaggerated benefits.’ The Image of a snake-faced pale figure easily batting away spells with his inhumane reaction came to my mind as I thought about this some more.
’Again, how the fuck did canon Harry win...’ I sighed as I closed my status window, admiring the increase in my mana pool once again.
’It jumped by 25% again. The earlier disadvantage of doing the initial ritual with Evelyn is already covered up. Most people don’t do that ritual more than once, so I’m already quite far ahead.’
"So, Heir Black, how does it feel? Can you sense the runes activate?" Andromeda asked.
"Yeah... does everyone in our family have the mana sense ability?" I asked as I looked at her. Between her and Sirius, asking her questions about our abilities felt easier.
"Not everyone, like Nymphadora, doesn’t have it. It’s passed along the main family line through sons instead of daughters." Andromeda replied. It didn’t make sense to me, and upon seeing the confusion on my face or through my mana, she continued, "There are several types of family magical traits that are carried forward according to patriarchal society norms."
"Your father, Regulus, was the next in line to the Black family’s Lordship, and so was my father, so my sisters and I gained that ability. But since the witches marry outside of the family most of the time, more predominant family traits like the mana sense of the Black family are restricted by our family magic only to pass down the male branches of our family tree."
I nodded my head, understanding the situation, but then my eyes drifted to Tonks’ pink hair and eyes, "What about our Metamorph powers?"
Andromeda looked back at her daughter for a brief moment before she turned back and replied, "The Metamorphmagus is not a Black Family exclusive trait, though it has reappeared in our lineage countless times. Since it has no constant pattern and it was not included in the original family charter, it can’t be restricted."
"Family Charter?" I asked while nodding.
Andromeda shook her head and sighed, "...Let’s go for now. Others will need to use the room as well. I’ll answer your questions some other day."
I nodded and stepped out of the Ritual circle. Picking up the robe, I started covering myself; I remembered something.
"Right, you are a solicitor, don’t you?"
My question got me a raised eyebrow and a questioning look in return, along with a nod.
"Do you know the Weasleys?" I continued, and a look of understanding appeared on her face.
"So the twins were not joking? You really want to sponsor them to fund a joke shop?" She asked.
"Please don’t," Tonks finally said, her face pleading. "They are bullies. Their pranks are cruel and targeted, and you funding them would give them more resources to mess around."
"Uhh... " I looked into her eyes as her hair flashed to darker shades of pink, "It was part of a deal that I leveraged to free Uncle Sirius. Plus, they are not that bad. You just need to look past the embarrassment and think of it as training. You want to be an auror, don’t you?"
My words caused Andromeda to stare at Tonks, who stopped and fidgeted. After glaring at me for a moment, she lied, her hair turning dark purple, "It’s not true, Mom. I just gave it as an excuse to Professor Sprout. She was on my heels last year for picking a future profession."
Andromeda didn’t say anything, her glare never flattering, and the sheepish grin on Tonks’ face slipped as she groaned. Instead, she huffed and walked away, sweeping by my side and knocking her shoulder against mine while muttering curses about unfair mana sense.
Her strength clearly wasn’t up to standard as she stumbled, almost falling over as she continued her march outside the doors. My eyes left her swaying arse for a moment as I looked back at Andromeda, who shook her head and turned back to me, "I can draw out a contract."
"Sure, thanks. Just send it back to the twins. They will go back and forth with you, and then they’ll come to me. Don’t charge them for your time. I’ll cover it." I said as we walked out. Just when we reached the door, a loud clanking sound came from somewhere down the hall. Andromeda’s face held an annoyed look as she quickened her steps, a stern scolding hanging on the tip of her tongue.
’So Tonks is still clumsy in this world. Wonder if it really is because of her Metamorph powers because I don’t suffer from the same symptoms...’

AN: I wanted to write another sex scene with Daphne, Astoria, and Adorabella, but I guess it’s time for some plot.

Been a while, I’m done with the project; it ran longer than expected. I’m also on notice period now, so I should have plenty of free time once again as I search for another job. This one has been killing me for almost a year now. I think it’s time to move on. Anyway, I’ll be focusing on writing for a little while. I’m debating whether to continue with more Chapters of this story or refocus on the original one, which has been on hiatus for a while now...
