Chapter 876: Chapter 874: Investigation from the Organization
Delan Branch, Underground Base.
Steward Canon received the information transmitted from the Supervisor Long Mei’er, watched the light flicker across the Crystal Ball, and nodded to himself, “Cooperate with the other side, huh, alright.”
Without hesitation, Canon turned and walked to the side, calling his subordinates over to begin assigning tasks, ordering a full investigation of Shambhala Town’s mines.
Subsequently, bits of information were continuously delivered to his hands.
Such as the previous havoc caused by Demonized Creatures, and how they were eliminated by Joseph.
For instance, the large-scale consolidation of mines near Shambhala Town after the Demonized Creatures were eradicated.
For instance, after the large-scale consolidation, technologies like “Fire Bomb” and “Railway Mine Cart” were gradually being promoted.
For instance, there is doubt about who exactly is running the mines currently; the apparent Miner Waltz could well be just a puppet.
…
A day later.
Canon arranged a resting room for Chikafu, whose health wasn’t very good, so he could go rest. This allowed him to enjoy his office undisturbed.
At this moment, he was in his office, sitting behind his desk, quickly browsing through the documents sent by his subordinates, sorting out the key information within the documents.
After a while, he picked up a document, glanced over it, eyes widening unconsciously, and read aloud the content in a low voice: “The true power behind Shambhala Town’s nearby mines, suspected to be connected to an outsider member of the organization?”
After repeatedly reading the information several times, Canon stood up, turned his head to look at the left wall.
On the other side of the wall, dozens of meters away, was where Inspector Chikafu was resting.
“Could this be the real goal? Were all previous actions just a cover?” Canon murmured to himself, his expression flickering.
He didn’t know with whom exactly the leader of the mines near Shambhala Town was connected among the organization’s outside members, but he keenly realized that this matter might not be simple.
If all of this was just a coincidence, that would be fine.
But if this was precisely a breakthrough point Chikafu was deliberately seeking to challenge the many branches of the Southern Free Federation, and exert pressure on him or even Supervisor Long Mei’er, things would become complicated and tricky.
Swaying his eyes, Canon didn’t hastily notify Chikafu but instead retrieved the Crystal Ball again and started transmitting information.
…
On the other side of the Crystal Ball.
Though an entire day had passed, Long Mei’er was still busy inside the “veins” of the Volcano, placing one metal cube after another.
After placing an unknown number of metal cubes, Long Mei’er felt the Crystal Ball vibrate on his chest. He stopped walking, stood in the lava, and took out the Crystal Ball.
Sweeping a glance at the Crystal Ball, Long Mei’er’s eyebrows suddenly shot up.
He saw the Crystal Ball rapidly flashing with bright crimson light—this was a signal he had agreed upon with Canon during communication, indicating that the transmitted information needed immense attention.
“Could it be…” Long Mei’er’s eyebrows twitched, “This investigation is related to an organization member?”
With lips pursed, Long Mei’er’s thin eyebrows slowly twisted as if contemplating.
Momentarily, Long Mei’er’s eyebrows returned to normal, having made a decision.
He didn’t reply using the Crystal Ball but instead looked at the lava engulfing his surroundings.
Taking a slight breath, he opened his mouth and uttered a cryptic syllable.
“North——”
“Buzz!”
The surrounding lava fluctuated, and a holographic diagram of the volcanic lava channels jumped out from his Crystal Ball, in which numerous light spots flashed in one of the side channels, displaying a deep blue color.
Long Mei’er looked at it without much concern, then put away the Crystal Ball, and again uttered a cryptic syllable.
“Yasa——”
“Buzz!”
The surrounding lava waved even more intensely, and the force field surrounding Long Mei’er’s body began to twist gradually. From previously spherical, it slowly became flat and pointed, taking on a spindle shape.
“Ecter!”
Long Mei’er uttered the final cryptic syllable, and his golden robe suddenly clung tightly to his body as if drawn by static electricity.
Then Long Mei’er as a whole dashed forward rapidly against the lava.
In just a few seconds, Long Mei’er sprinted to the end of this lava fork road, entered the main lava channel of the volcano’s belly, and emerged from the magma surface, rising swiftly upward.
One could see, under Long Mei’er’s feet, a pool of golden, viscous liquid churning, occasionally bursting open, spewing magma tens of meters high, emitting extremely high temperatures, then moving farther and farther away from Long Mei’er.
Finally, Long Mei’er’s figure leaped out from the massive volcanic crater, darted off in the direction of the Delan Branch.
…
Later that evening, Long Mei’er arrived at the Delan Branch and met Steward Canon in the office.
After briefly understanding some situations and browsing through the investigation documents, Long Mei’er fell into silence.
Canon spoke up, “Long Mei’er Steward, what do you think should be done next regarding this matter?”
Long Mei’er pondered briefly, then lifted his head with a stern expression and said, “Cooperate with him, continue the investigation.”
“Really?” Canon was somewhat surprised.
“Otherwise?” Long Mei’er gave Canon a profound look and said, “We all serve the True God. Since it’s now discovered that there might be a flaw, we should obviously figure it out. Only when everything is clear can it be handled well. Before it’s all cleared up, making rash decisions and turning originally nonexistent issues into enigmatic matters is utterly foolish.”
“Alright, I understand.” Canon nodded after listening, then took his steps outside.
…
A more extensive investigation continued.
In the blink of an eye, it was the third day.
Eden, Raw Material Production Sector.
Richard was constantly pulling and pushing the levers, controlling the entire set of reaction equipment in the current area. When finally pulling a red lever flat for the last time, a “click” was heard as the outlet of a distant reaction device released, letting out a dark yellow translucent liquid.
This liquid steadily poured into a pre-set metal container. When the container, capable of holding a hundred liters, was half-filled, it stopped. This was precisely the final product Richard needed to produce, intended for a certain anti-extraction process.
He walked over, observed the hue of the solution, confirmed there wasn’t much deviation from his anticipation, and nodded in satisfaction. He screwed on a heavy lid, stored the container in a warehouse, did a bit of tidying up, and left Eden.
Shortly after returning to the real world, in the study of Blue Lake Estate, Richard felt the Crystal Ball on his chest reacting.
Taking it out, he saw three different lights flashing through—yellow, blue, and green. As agreed, this signal meant Joseph wanted to visit.
Joseph wants to visit?
Richard paced a few steps in the study, guessing a certain possibility.
