Chapter 1553 Snake Leads the Way
"You leave everything for me, the hall master, to handle? Aren't I a little too busy?"
As I was speaking, the convoy had already turned off the highway and drove for a distance along the bottom road. Old Zuo stopped the car, "Everyone, we should change cars."
Old Zuo opened the carriage, and I saw the true face of the famous Tong Yang carriage.
The main body of the Tong Yang carriage is a "凸" shaped four-wheeled carriage. This design obviously protects the driver as well. The coachman sits in the front, controlling the carriage, and is not affected by the yin winds of the Yellow Springs.
I couldn't tell what kind of wood the carriage was made of, but I could see that the windows inlaid on the front, back, left, and right sides of the carriage were made of whole pieces of crystal.
Using crystal for windows is not only extremely expensive, but also less transparent than glass. In terms of firmness, it may not even be as good as the aviation glass produced by modern industry.
However, crystal can be used to cast spells or arrange magical formations.
However, not many people in the Chinese magic arts world use crystal for casting spells, Western magicians use it more often.
I looked forward along the carriage and saw eight paper-扎 white horses. Paper horses and paper oxen are things that travel between the Yin and Yang realms, so it's no wonder that the carriage can travel between the underworld and the mortal world.
While I was curiously examining the carriage, Old Zuo took out a few pills, put them in his mouth, chewed them a few times, and swallowed them.
After a while, a black gas appeared on his face, the kind that only appears on dead people.
I asked curiously, "Are you eating poison?"
Old Zuo sighed and said, "A secret medicine left by the family. After eating it, you're pretty much like a dead person."
"I have to make sure I can come back from the underworld within twelve hours, otherwise, I'll be stuck there for good."
"Everyone, get in the car! After I burn the paper horses, we can set off."
After the four of us got into the carriage, Old Zuo set the paper horses on fire.
As the raging flames soared into the sky in front of the carriage, Old Zuo flicked the reins as if he was driving a carriage, "Giddy up..."
The eight paper horses immediately let out a long neigh, and the flames flew to both sides. The soul-transformed white horses gradually revealed their forms.
As the eight steeds rushing out of the flames pulled the carriage forward, I said in a low voice, "Leng Gou, turn into a ghost first. I want to see what this Da Meng Xiang (Great Dream Village) is all about."
Ye Yang nodded and gradually transformed into a half-ghost body, but I remained the same, turning my head to look out of the car.
Soon, I saw a stone bridge.
One end of the stone bridge was built on the edge of a cliff, while the other end extended into a dense white fog. I couldn't see the scene on the other side, nor could I see where the stone bridge was leading to. The scene was like seeing a ghost bridge leading to the netherworld.
Old Zuo slowly slowed down the carriage and said in a hoarse voice, "Everyone, hold on tight, we're going to cross the bridge."
I turned sideways and looked out through the front window of the car, and saw a black python as thick as a human thigh standing on the bridge.
The black python suddenly lowered its body and stretched its head in front of the car window. As its blood-red tongue trembled and stuck to the car window, I saw that the black python had a pair of sharp horns, the length of a finger, on its head.
This python is probably only a hundred or two years away from transforming into a jiao (flood dragon)!
As the thought flashed through my mind, I saw the black python lower its body and disappear.
A rustling sound of snake scales scraping the ground came from under the carriage.
Did the snake crawl under the car?
After a moment, I saw a snake's head the size of a washbasin rise up from the side of the carriage, clinging to the car window and climbing onto the roof of the car.
When about a quarter of the snake's body had passed over the car, a pair of human hands suddenly stretched out from under the scales, gripping the edge of the car window with hooked fingers, and the snake's head lying on the roof of the car stopped moving!
In that instant, I suddenly felt my heart skip a beat, and then, a stench like rotting blood poured into the car from outside.
I immediately felt dizzy and nauseous, my chest burned like fire, and the human qi in my body was rapidly draining away.
The black python wants to kill!
After I reacted, I quickly transformed into a half-ghost body. It wasn't until the human qi in my body disappeared that the pair of human hands clinging to the car window slowly released the edge of the window and retreated outward.
Then, the black python swam towards the ghost cars behind.
I said in a low voice, "That black python can kill people. If there are living people in the car, it can kill them."
"Zero's information and Lao Zuo's words are all correct."
As I was speaking, the black python had already swam back, passed the Tong Yang carriage, and swam towards the opposite side of the bridge. It wasn't until it reached the middle of the stone bridge that it turned around and hung down from the bridge.
When Lao Zuo's carriage passed over the bridge, I had a feeling that our car was walking forward as if it was pressing on the black snake's body, because from the position where it left the bridge, I couldn't hear the sound of the wheels rolling over the stone bridge.
Could it be that the second half of the bridge is the black snake's spine?
No wonder there is a saying of "snake leads the way"!
