Chapter 860 Four Dead Ends
Ye Yang said in a deep voice, "Feng Ruohang, protect me. I'm going to unlock it."
Later, Ye Yang explained to Feng Ruohang that the corpses of the Seven Fiends Corpse-Binding Lock were merely the lock's head; the seven nails buried within the corpses were the lock's core.
To open the lock without a key, one had to sever the seven cores.
However, the exact location of these cores was a gamble for the person attempting to "unlock" it, a wager of life and death.
As Ye Yang angled his long sword, aiming at the Corpse-Binding Lock, it suddenly raised its head and emitted an ear-piercing shriek.
A visible shockwave erupted from the Corpse-Binding Lock's fanged maw, hurtling towards Ye Yang. Its long hair, trailing behind it, billowed like wings, propelling the lock vertically into the air, disappearing into the murderous aura obscuring the secret chamber.
Ye Yang brandished his sword, leaping into the air, taking several steps on empty space, pushing himself three meters higher. The sword in his hand flashed like a thunderclap, striking upwards towards the heavens, pursuing the Corpse-Binding Lock's form into the sky.
The murderous aura, like a mist, sealed off the upper reaches of the chamber.
The sword light, however, was like thunder, cleaving through clouds and breaking through obstacles.
Layer upon layer of mist was bisected by Ye Yang's sword. Although his figure began to fall, his second strike followed immediately, piercing the Corpse-Binding Lock's shoulder from several meters away.
Amidst its screams, the Corpse-Binding Lock suddenly inverted, its feet simultaneously striking towards the ceiling.
Ye Yang saw the Corpse-Binding Lock rotate, but it was too late to strike again.
Before its feet could touch the wall, a pair of funeral shoes shattered from within, revealing claw-like feet that dug into the wall. The creature hung upside down like a bat, screeching wildly.
The corpses and ghouls in the tomb, as if spurred by the shriek, erupted with ferocity, their eyes blazing red as they swarmed towards Ye Yang. Feng Ruohang, reacting instantly, landed near Ye Yang, whirling around: "Go unlock it!"
With those four short words, Ye Yang shot upwards, Feng Ruohang striking two palms beneath his feet, using the force to propel him into the air. He spun again, turning his palms into claws, meeting the incoming corpses and ghouls.
In a flash, human hands and ghostly claws intertwined, gripping each other tightly. The four arms remained suspended in the air, locked in a stalemate.
At the same time, four other corpses and ghouls lunged towards Feng Ruohang, attempting to encircle and kill him.
In the blink of an eye, Feng Ruohang's body surged with gangqi, striking directly at his opponents.
The gangqi blasted into the corpses' arms, erupting in four explosions. Arms that were impervious to swords and blades were torn apart under the impact of the gangqi, instantly becoming bloody skeletons.
Feng Ruohang struck again with his palms, shattering the corpses' arm bones. He pressed forward, slamming his shoulder into the chest of a tall corpse, sending it flying. Feng Ruohang took advantage of the momentum to escape the melee, the four corpses behind him all missing their attacks.
As the four corpses landed, Feng Ruohang sidestepped, circling behind them, reaching out to grab their spines, his five fingers like steel knives, plunging into their bodies.
Feng Ruohang clenched his fingers inwards, and a section of the corpse's spine shattered into pieces in his hand.
As Feng Ruohang withdrew his hand, he shifted his position several times, appearing behind another target...
While Ye Yang and Feng Ruohang were caught in a fierce battle within the secret burial chamber, the God of Fate had led me and the others from the Reincarnation Division to an open space in the center of the village.
The people of Qingyan Village lived by gathering herbs and hunting. The open space in the village was where they dried herbs and tanned animal hides.
The people of Qingyan Village were gone, but the frames they used to skin animals were still there.
The dark red of the wooden frames, stained by years of blood, was chilling to behold from afar, especially with a god who could control life and death at will by our side.
Cai Wenyan walked behind me, transmitting a cold voice, "Li Po, you're ruthless. You had to pick me!"
I responded, "We're all in the same boat now. We live together, we die together. I know you have something that can save your life. If you don't use it now, are you planning on saving it for later?"
"You're ruthless!" Cai Wenyan glared at me with a sinister look, but I ignored him, pulling Cang Tianji along as we followed the God of Fate towards the open space in the village.
The God of Fate stopped in the middle of the open space before turning around. "There are four paths here that lead out of the village, but only one path leads to life. If you choose the wrong one, he will surely die."
"I'll give you the time it takes for one incense stick to burn. Gamble on his path to survival!"
As soon as the God of Fate finished speaking, the pile of firewood in the open space suddenly ignited, and flames sprang up from all directions. The four entrances to the open space became distorted by the flickering light.
As my eyes darted around, I seemed to see someone squatting in the shadows of the entrances, chuckling coldly, and I seemed to see the shadows of snakes slithering on the ground...
When I looked at Cang Tianji, the latter shook his head slightly. "They're all dead ends. I can't calculate where the path to life is. Cai Wenyan, give me your birth date and time. I'll calculate your fate."
"This..." Cai Wenyan hesitated at this point, his eyes subconsciously glancing towards the God of Fate.
