Chapter 1254: Chapter 1253: Trust Me and You’ll Win
The university cafeteria’s food is indeed popular fare, much like communal meals from back in the day. However, the cafeteria food is now more varied and not expensive. The main point is that all these college students can afford it.
Seeing the steaming hot food placed in front of him, Lin Yazhong felt a bit emotional. However, Lin Xiang, beside him, doubted whether the food was edible.
Zhou Shaohui and the others brought over a few dishes, along with soup and buns. Ye Qiu was eating there and felt it was okay; for him, coming to this world, he’s tried many delicious dishes already.
"Not bad,"
Lin Yazhong said.
Perhaps because his heart disease was cured, Lin Yazhong had a very healthy appetite now. He finished the entire bowl of rice and all the dishes, while the pampered Lin Xiang barely ate a third before she couldn’t eat any more. She found it not tasty, probably because her taste from Malaysia was different.
She preferred food that was a bit sweet, a bit sour, and a bit spicy — something sweet, sour, and spicy. It seemed none of that was here.
Looking at Lin Xiang’s expression, Lin Yazhong didn’t say much. After all, they experienced different eras.
Ye Qiu had eaten enough and was preparing to take Lin Yazhong and his daughter on a tour around Jin University’s campus. Afterward, he needed to check out the basketball court.
"Sir, I’ll take you around the campus for a bit. I have something to do later."
"Okay, thank you, Doctor Ye."
Jin University was quite different from before. It’s larger in scale, with more students, and seemed more modernized. However, Lin Yazhong felt something was indeed missing.
People change, and times progress; Lin Yazhong understood this.
Ye Qiu walked in front, introducing the place while Lin Yazhong and Lin Xiang followed behind, observing. Here was beside Xuanwu Lake and under Zijin Mountain, so the scenery was naturally impeccable.
After walking for over an hour, Ye Qiu and the two found a bench to sit down. Lin Yazhong asked, "Is Doctor Ye really still a student here? Which year are you in?"
"Just started my freshman year. Actually, it’s just to enjoy and experience university life. The courses here are of no use to me."
Lin Yazhong naturally knew that since Ye Qiu’s medical skills were so formidable, attending classes here indeed offered no benefits. Yet, being so young, if not staying in school, what was there to do outside?
"If you have time, you should visit Malaysia. It’s a very nice place!"
Lin Yazhong said.
Regarding Malaysia’s situation, Ye Qiu only understood it through the soul consciousness; he hadn’t actually been there and had no plans to visit temporarily.
Ye Qiu’s phone suddenly rang. It was a call from Song Ying.
"Counselor, are you looking for me?"
"The match is about to start. Coach Li asked you to go to the basketball gym."
Song Ying said urgently from the other side.
"Okay, I’ll head over."
After Ye Qiu hung up the call, he turned to Lin Yazhong and said, "The Cuba game is about to start, and I need to help out. Do you want to check it out?"
"A basketball match sounds good,"
Lin Yazhong said.
Ye Qiu led the two towards Jin University’s basketball gym. By the time they got inside, thousands of students had already gathered. Ye Qiu let the two find seats while he headed to the changing room.
In the changing room, Coach Li and other players were already there.
Seeing Ye Qiu arrive, Coach Li quickly said, "Ye Qiu, hurry and change into your jersey!"
"Coach Li, don’t worry. Our team will surely win. But let me see if they need me to play. If the upperclassmen can win the game, there’s no need for me to go up."
Upon hearing Ye Qiu, Li Yiping had no choice but to agree.
When the game was about to start, Ye Qiu emerged from the changing room and saw Counselor Song Ying seated there, with an empty seat next to her. Ye Qiu walked over, patted her shoulder, and then sat down. Song Ying initially wondered who it was but realized it was Ye Qiu.
"Aren’t you going to play?"
"We’ll see. If we win, you owe me a kiss."
"You opportunist, always taking advantage,"
Song Ying whispered.
As the game started, Jin University’s home team players took the court, as did the visiting Southeastern University’s starters. Judging by the pace and scores from the first quarter, Jin University seemed slightly lacking.
However, Ye Qiu wasn’t a bit nervous, whereas Song Ying began to worry for Jin University. By the end of the first quarter, Jin University was already down by six points.
Li Yiping searched everywhere for Ye Qiu’s presence. Upon spotting him, he urgently called Ye Qiu over.
Once Ye Qiu approached Li Yiping, Li Yiping said, "Get ready to play!"
"Let’s wait and see. This team might not win against East Sea University, so you guys can win on your own."
Li Yiping didn’t want to lose face.
They had no choice but to proceed with the second quarter.
As the second quarter started, Jin University began an aggressive offensive. However, the fast pace meant higher physical exertion, resulting in an even greater point deficit. By the end of the second quarter, Jin University was trailing by thirteen points overall.
Unable to bear it any longer, Li Yiping quickly urged Ye Qiu to head into the changing room to switch into his jersey, while Jin University’s students chanted for Ye Qiu to play.
"Ye Qiu on court!"
"Ye Qiu on court!"
Ye Qiu’s slam dunks, three-pointers, assists, and rebounds were all outstanding. Yet, they hadn’t seen him take the court.
When Ye Qiu was called into the changing room by Li Yiping, Li Yiping asked, "You’ve seen it, right? You need to play!"
"Not necessary. Just call those main team players in. I’ll just motivate them,"
Ye Qiu said.
"Really?"
Still in disbelief, Li Yiping called over the five main players. Ye Qiu looked at them and said, "Just play as fiercely as you did at East Sea University in the third quarter."
But these guys were already panting; how could they play fiercely now?
They felt that Ye Qiu spoke as if it took no effort; clearly, this guy was skilled himself yet was unwilling to join the court, possibly setting them up to be criticized later.
"Believe me, and you’ll win. If not, you’ll suffer a terrible loss,"
Ye Qiu said coldly.
There was no room for disbelief anymore. As halftime passed, when they emerged from the changing room, they suddenly felt invigorated as if they possessed endless energy.
In contrast, the Southeastern University basketball team had also spent a lot of energy, with two substitutes joining in.
Of course, under normal circumstances, following the usual pace, the Southeastern University team was bound to win the game.
