Chapter 735: Chapter 724 Buying Things
“Mainly because it’s tough to get hold of the big stuff, the small ones are simpler, but small ones just won’t cut it. I mean, things like fruit knives, in the hands of an ordinary person, could kill a person or two, but for us, that’s not enough to play with. Using that kind of thing to take someone out is iffy.”
“Indeed, it’s tough,” Black Flood Dragon chimed in, “At the very least, we need a heavy-duty machete that can chop through bone in one swing; otherwise, if we don’t kill someone with one hit, that’s a problem.”
“I know that,” Song Yun nodded and said, “No rush for the weapons, I’ll see if any of my old friends are still around. If they are, it’ll be easy to get what we need.”
“Right, we’re counting on you,” Black Flood Dragon stated.
Song Yun took out his phone, searched for a while, and finally found the number he was looking for, then dialed it.
After a long wait, someone on the other end picked up the phone.
It was a gloomy male voice.
“Hello.”
“Chen Man?” Song Yun asked in a low voice.
“You’ve got the wrong number.” The call was quickly disconnected.
Song Yun chuckled and dialed again.
“I told you, you’ve got the wrong number,” the gloomy male voice sounded slightly impatient.
“Sorry, I’m looking for a delivery,” Song Yun said.
“Who is this?” The man’s voice changed, no longer as gloomy.
“I’m Song Yun.”
“Holy crap, Song Yun? You’re still alive?” Chen Man on the other end exclaimed with joy.
“Yeah, still alive and well,” Song Yun replied, “Got a question for you, are you still in the business in zj?”
“Yeah, still am. What do you need? Oh right, I’ve heard a lot of people on the streets saying that you’re planning to wipe out Wang Billion and his entire family. Is that true?” Chen Man asked curiously.
“I’ll talk to you about that later. Right now, I need some hardware. I know you’ve got the connections. Can you hook me up?” Song Yun inquired.
“That’s going to be difficult,” Chen Man said from his end of the line. “Right now, the pressure is on. It’s not just the Wen Commerce Association watching, even the higher-ups are on the lookout. A lot of my friends have stopped doing business, all because of you.”
“Then forget it,” Song Yun said, preparing to hang up.
“It’s difficult, doesn’t mean it’s impossible,” Chen Man’s voice turned sleazier. “You know our relationship; whatever’s yours is mine. Tell me what kind of hardware you need, and I’ll find it for you.”
“Machetes or sabers, at least eighty, and if you can get some submachine guns, a few would do. If there are any shotguns, that’d be best,” Song Yun said succinctly.
“Eighty? That’s going to be tough. But I can try. As for that stuff, I have a couple of replicas of the ‘Type 54’. For submachine guns, I suggest you steal them from the officials here; I don’t have that sort of thing.”
“Alright, that’ll do. You sure you can get them?” Song Yun asked.
“Of course, you know my capabilities, Song Yun, aren’t you aware? However, brother to brother needs clear accounts. We’ll have to have a proper talk about the money.”
Song Yun’s face soured slightly, “Don’t rip me off too hard.”
“Look who you’re talking to. Am I that kind of person? Let’s settle this; for a single machete, the cost of manufacturing, labor, transportation, and since it’s a special period, risk as well, I’ll charge you twenty thousand each. For eighty, that’s 1.6 million.”
Song Yun’s face darkened; Chen Man was really starting to fleece him.
Chen Man, renowned for being able to sell anything as long as there’s a buyer, walked the line between righteousness and wickedness, sometimes dealing in information for the authorities, sometimes providing weapons and other items to organizations, even frequently taking up various other roles. As long as there’s money, he’ll sell anything and dares to sell everything.
For someone like Chen Man, who was all about the money, Song Yun had the nerve to approach him because there was history between them. They had collaborated a few times before, and there was a mutual trust. Secondly, Song Yun wasn’t afraid of Chen Man betraying him. If Chen Man really betrayed him, he would certainly not live long, and Chen Man himself was aware of this. Thus, Song Yun dared to let Chen Man equip him.
“How about it? The price is reasonable, right? I’m giving you a friend’s rate here,” Chen Man said.
“Fine, I’ll take them,” Song Yun agreed, “How much for the ‘Type 54’?”
“Each for a hundred thousand,” Chen Man said with a laugh.
“Done,” Song Yun gritted his teeth and agreed, aware that normally the replicas would only cost around two thousand each. Now, the price was suddenly increased by fifty times; Chen Man was indeed ruthless.
“Actually, you need to understand my position,” Chen Man remarked, noting the grind in Song Yun’s voice. “Times are tough right now, and after you do whatever you’re going to do, you might just skip town, but the Wen Commerce Association will surely trace the origin of your weapons. If they track it back to me, I’m facing total doom. I’m risking my life getting these for you; my life’s worth a few million, isn’t it?”
Song Yun reflected on this and realized it was true. If he managed to wrap things up and ditch everything to flee back to Sunan, the chase would certainly begin here, and the source of the weapons would be a mandatory lead to investigate. If not careful, Chen Man could be the one getting hunted down. The Wen Commerce Association might even get rid of him in a fit of rage!
Thinking this through, Song Yun felt a bit better inside.
“When can I get the goods?” Song Yun asked.
“Two days from now,” Chen Man replied, “Transfer the money to my account, I’ll text you the details.”
After that, Chen Man hung up the phone.
Song Yun checked the time, one minute and fifty-five seconds.
According to current tracking devices, it takes about two minutes to trace an IP address, showing that Chen Man’s vigilance was indeed strong.
“We’ll have the weapons in two days,” Song Yun said to Black Flood Dragon, “Send two million to this account.”
Saying this, Song Yun sent Black Flood Dragon Chen Man’s account information.
“Next, we continue to gather and organize intelligence, ensuring our operation is flawless,” Song Yun said as he pulled out a map from his pocket, pushed aside the mahjong tiles on the table, and spread the map out, “On this map, I’ve marked some spots based on your intelligence, like Wang Kai’s frequent haunts and Wang Billion, among others. When you guys head back, assign some of the more astute guys to tail Wang Billion and Wang Kai. Having Gai Nie by Wang Kai’s side actually saves us some trouble; we can take both out at once. Wang Billion’s bodyguards might be from the top brass, so I’ll take care of that. As for you two, don’t show yourselves too early. Once everyone gets their weapons, you can come back.”
“Got it,” Jue Wu nodded, saying, “Brother Song Yun, what are these red lines on the map?”
