Chapter 244-3: The Duped Glory’s Light, The Glory World That Grows Ever More Unfathomable (Part 3)

Li De could clearly sense that the mana surrounding Glory’s Light was much more active than before. Although to him it was still a mere spark, it had improved a great deal from the previous matchstick.

With keen interest, he opened Glory’s Light’s attribute panel. But aside from seeing the level rise from 1 to 2, there was no other change, which left him a bit disappointed.

That was it?

He even deliberately opened his own system panel to check the system prompt and couldn’t help feeling speechless at the information displayed there.

“Ding~ Crimson Mage Tower apprentice Glory’s Light has broken through to become a Formal Mage. Crimson Mage Tower’s strength has increased. Awarded character experience - 10.”

When Vina had become a Formal Mage while Li De was level 10, he had gained 200 experience points. Now, at level 14, an apprentice leveling up only brought him 10 experience. Compared to the 50,000 points needed to level up, this was pathetic beyond words.

If he wanted to rely on promoting apprentices to Formal Mages in order to level up, he’d need four or five thousand people. Even if you scraped Green City clean, you probably still couldn’t find that many apprentices with the aptitude to become Formal Mages.

When Glory’s Light opened his eyes, his face was filled with intense joy.

A Formal Mage, hahaha, he had finally become a Formal Mage!!!

But at the same time, he couldn’t help feeling sorrow well up. It was too hard, this game was just too hard.

He’d been an apprentice mage for so long, over three months, and only now, with the help of magical potions, had he become a Formal Mage.

This damned game simply didn’t treat people like human beings.

It was way too hard to play!!!

Glory’s Light silently cursed the game designers a hundred times, no, a hundred times over.

“Lord Li De, I’ve become a Formal Mage!!”

Li De looked at the overjoyed, utterly moved Glory’s Light and smiled faintly.

“Very good. From today onward, you may follow the Teaching Division of the Crimson Mage Tower and diligently study magic. Glory’s Light, I believe in you. You can become an outstanding mage.”

‘I…’

More magic lessons?? Glory’s Light’s expression instantly turned into a bitter gourd, once again recalling the pain of studying back in school.

Being bad at learning was too much suffering.

Magic was an incredibly deep discipline. It wasn’t some garbage game background lore with just hundreds or thousands of words, it was a complete magical system.

From the origins of magic, to structural analysis of magic nodes, to the applications of magic, the properties of magic, and so on and so forth, just the most basic magic books numbered in the dozens, and there were also all the advanced texts.

Those densely packed bookshelves made Glory’s Light’s legs go weak every time.

“Thank you, Lord Li De, I will definitely work hard,” Glory’s Light choked out this huge lie to his big boss with tears in his eyes.

Li De almost laughed out loud seeing this fellow’s pained, conflicted expression.

Go ahead and savor the joys of magic to your heart’s content.

“Very good. I will instruct the Teaching Division to give you special attention. From now on, you will have scheduled exams every month, and every day you will receive one-on-one tutoring.”

Glory’s Light, who had originally planned to slack off, froze. Looking at Li De’s beaming smile, he wanted to cry but had no tears.

‘I…thank you so much.’

After Glory’s Light left, Li De was in an excellent mood. This fool, he’d finally tasted the beating that was studying magic, hadn’t he?

He had inherited two hundred years of memories from the Vampire Progenitor, so he knew better than anyone just how much knowledge was required to study magic.

The Vampire Progenitor had started as an exceptionally gifted individual, but even so, he spent the first several decades stumbling and constantly collecting magic books before finally reaching Level 10 and starting to develop Bloodline Descendants, at which point life got easier.

Of course, this also had to do with the fact that the Vampire Progenitor had begun as an ordinary farmer who couldn’t even read. His lack of knowledge and perspective had delayed his development.

It wasn’t until the Vampire Progenitor reached Level 10 and began developing his Bloodline Descendants, truly becoming the king of his race and tasting the thrill of power, that he began to rapidly expand the vampires.

This was what later led to the overpopulation of vampires, requiring large-scale hunting of humans, which angered the Transcendent beings of Green City and triggered a war, more accurately, a one-sided massacre where a single Transcendent mage wiped out over a thousand vampires with one spell.

If the battlefield hadn’t been chaotic and if the Vampire Progenitor hadn’t been too weak to be noticed by the Transcendent mage, the vampires probably really would have been exterminated.

---

“Lord Li De, are those adventurers from the Lost Worlds really that powerful?”

After Glory’s Light’s figure disappeared, Vina finally spoke up with some curiosity.

During this period, she had been gathering information about the otherworldly adventurers, as per Li De’s orders.

But apart from their talent for endless resurrection, she hadn’t observed anything particularly extraordinary about them. At most, they were just a bit stronger than ordinary people.

“Don’t underestimate them. The ability to resurrect endlessly is the most powerful talent of all, there’s no second place.

An ordinary person who’s lived a thousand years will always be stronger than a prodigy who’s only lived a hundred. Living longer, that’s the real truth.”

Li De couldn’t help feeling a bit sentimental. Thankfully, vampires were a long-lived race, so he never had to worry about lifespan.

A vampire’s longevity didn’t mean they were truly immortal, rather, as long as they weren’t destroyed, they wouldn’t die until their soul finally dissipated into nothingness.

But no one knew how long it took for a vampire’s soul to naturally fade away, because in ancient times, a legendary powerhouse had discovered a demi-god vampire who had lived for two hundred thousand years.

Elves, those famous long-lived beings, even if they became demi-gods, their lifespan was only twenty or thirty thousand years.

So no one had ever seen a vampire die of old age. Typically, after a few hundred or thousand years, they were killed off.

Almost all died by homicide.

After all, the longer you lived, the better you were as an alchemical material, so the longer you lived, the more likely you were to be targeted.

That two hundred thousand year old demi-god vampire was turned into a bone staff imbued with demi-god power, which was still kept in the treasure vault of a human empire.
