Chapter 1511: Chapter 1511: What Am I Even Doing This For

The sound of water splashing echoed in the bathroom.

The doctor instructed that the wound shouldn’t get wet these days, so the evening bath routine became a nuisance, not so refreshing.

Gavin Graves wiped himself with a damp towel and sighed silently, pondering how the mighty family head of the Graves Family ended up being bitten by a dog…

Sigh…

He casually wrapped a towel around his waist, walked out of the bathroom, and went back to the bedroom to rest.

At around nine o’clock, the night life was just getting started, but the last time he got caught by Cherry at the bar was too shocking; he really didn’t feel like going out for amusement. Running into acquaintances meant socializing, and the thought of it was exhausting.

He lay on the bed, turned on the TV, randomly picked a show to pass the last moments before sleep.

The stand-up comedian on screen was cracking jokes, but he was drowsy, missing all the punchlines.

Which was just fine—watching until he got sleepy, saving himself from the heartbreak of insomnia and thinking about her all night.

Suddenly, he heard a short laugh.

Gavin: “…”

After a while, that laughter rang out again.

Like it was desperately held back but couldn’t be contained, muffled giggles…

Gavin remained silent, then got up from the bed, speaking with a calmness bordering on numbness, “Come out.”

Aside from the sound of the television, the room was silent.

Gavin closed his eyes, feeling exasperated, “Come out, Cherry, I know you’re under there.”

After waiting for a moment, there was a rustling from under the bed, and she crawled out reluctantly.

“That’s unfair! If it weren’t for you watching TV, I could’ve hidden for much longer!” Cherry had not the slightest embarrassment from being caught, instead, she accused him of error.

Gavin helped her up, dusting off the wrinkles on her clothes, and asked, “What were you doing under there?”

Her eyes darted around before she suddenly hugged him, “Gavin, I want to sleep with you!”

“No need to hide under the bed for that…” Gavin sighed, “Don’t do this again next time.”

“Why not?”

“What if I mistook you for a thief and shot beneath the bed, then what?”

Cherry clearly hadn’t thought of that, staring blankly at him.

Gavin patted her head gently, coaxing, “Alright, if you want to sleep, then sleep. No more fooling around.”

Cherry blinked, “Just sleep like this? Aren’t we going to do something?”

Upon hearing this, Gavin chuckled, lying back on the bed with a subtle, meaningful smile, asking her, “What do you want to do?”

Cherry pointed at the TV, “I want to finish watching this show.”

Gavin: “…”

After a moment of silence, he nodded, “Alright… you can watch.”

And so, the two of them lay on the bed watching TV.

Cherry watched and laughed, then watched and laughed again; at times, she laughed uncontrollably in Gavin’s arms like a little madcap.

Gavin couldn’t find humor in the show, but he did find amusement in her antics a few times.

After laughing for a while, Cherry got thirsty. Gavin poured her some water, and after drinking, she said she was hungry.

“What did you have for dinner that made you hungry so fast?”

With a pout, she replied pitifully, “I was changing outfits and putting on makeup all evening, no time to eat dinner.”

Whenever faced with Cherry, Gavin felt a mix of irritation and helplessness.

If she went through so much effort to doll up, why did she crawl under the bed?… Sigh!

Gavin called room service for a late-night snack—tuna tartare, brandy shrimp, pan-fried swordfish with porcini mushrooms and potatoes, along with artichoke salad and white grape sparkling wine.

He said, “Don’t eat on the bed.”

She sat cross-legged on the bed and started eating.

Seeing her eat so happily, Gavin thought: never mind, let’s not bother…

Besides, is there any point in caring?

Fortunately, she had some conscience, and after a while, forked a peeled shrimp and offered it to Gavin, “Gavin, this is good, try it.”

Gavin opened his mouth to accept it, hmm… not bad.

She then fed him a piece of potato.

The small round potato slipped off the fork, leaving a trail of grease on the bed sheet.

Cherry’s eyes widened, “Why didn’t you catch it more accurately! You dirtied the sheet!”

Gavin: “…”

Serving this one night, what did I gain?

He pulled her into his arms—
