Chapter 146: Join Us
"Morgana? How the hell can she help me?"
"Oh? You know her... That’s good." Zohar nodded, a small smile on his face.
"Morgana was the one who helped me when I first arrived in this world. She was also the one who pointed this planet out to me. I owe her a debt, but I can’t repay it." His smile turned sad.
"And who said you can’t repay my debt?!"
Sunny and Zohar spun around. Morgana’s phantom form appeared in the chamber, her long red hair sweeping the ground as she glided towards the two men.
Sunny’s eyes went wide. "You?! You were here the whole time?!" he asked in shock.
"Of course," Morgana said, her gaze fixed on Zohar.
"Nothing and no one can hide from me." She paused, then added, "But he did."
Sunny glanced between the two for a moment, then asked, "What are you doing here? Are you here for the debt?"
"Debt? Oh... His daughters will pay it," she said dismissively. "I’m here to see him off."
Sunny nodded, turning back to Zohar. "What were you about to tell me?"
"Oh! Where was I?" Zohar cleared his throat and continued:
"There’s a high chance she won’t help you–"
"–Yes. I won’t help you." Morgana finished Zohar’s sentence, her eyes locked on Sunny.
"Why?!" Sunny asked, confused.
"He doesn’t know yet?" Morgana turned to Zohar, a frown on her face.
"I was about to tell him, but you cut me off," Zohar said, glaring at her.
"No, I didn’t!" Morgana argued back.
’Why are these two bickering like kids?’ Sunny thought, a frown creasing his brow.
"Okay, enough. You don’t have time. Tell him," Morgana finally conceded, her form going still.
Zohar nodded and faced Sunny again. "There’s a hidden power behind us."
Sunny frowned. "I don’t understand," he said.
"You don’t understand those simple words?" Morgana raised an eyebrow.
Sunny ignored her and looked to Zohar. "Explain."
"I can’t explain it. All we both know is that this person is the reason we’re still here. And now, I’ll be leaving, so this person needs someone else to carry on my position, which is you."
"So this ’person,’ do you know who they are?"
"We don’t. We haven’t even seen their face," Morgana answered.
"Okay... You said I’ll take your place. Your place in what? What job are you two doing?" Sunny asked, a deep frown on his face.
"We are tasked with protecting the four worlds... And Lester is threatening that. He already took me out, so you need to take my place. You’re lucky he doesn’t know your whereabouts, so you have that privilege," Zohar muttered.
"Wait a second. I haven’t agreed to anything."
"Oh, child. The moment Draco followed the light’s words, you joined the cause," Morgana said with a knowing smile.
"Light?" Sunny turned to her, a hint of surprise in his voice. "How do you know about that?"
"She knows because I was the light," Zohar revealed.
Sunny blinked for a few seconds, then shook his head. "Hold on... I need a moment to process everything."
’Who is this backer? If he, she, or it is that strong, why didn’t they just kill Lester? Why go through the struggle of manipulating Draco, getting him killed, and bringing me here in exchange? Was it all just to get me to join this war?’ Sunny thought.
’But the System brought me here... Wait, is the System this mysterious person? System, are you their backer?’
{".....?!"}
The System gave no answer.
Sunny grimaced but exhaled slowly.
’If the System is indeed their backer, I can’t refuse. But what if... what if the System is under the control of someone else? And that person is the main backer? Ugh! So many annoying questions...’ He looked at the two in front of him.
’There’s no way these guys can answer these questions... But seriously, Lester Blood hasn’t offended me, but with his reputation, he will surely cross me. There must be a gain in agreeing to this. Look at Morgana, she’s a cold, ruthless, and weird bitch! She’s clearly invincible in this world. If this person could make her this strong, I can gain some benefits. But...’
He turned to Morgana. "What is your real rank?"
Morgana chuckled lightly, licking her lower lip. "Hope you won’t be scared?"
’Was my guess correct? Was she hiding her rank? If she isn’t a Divine rank, what rank is she?’ Sunny thought, then nodded at her, ready to hear the answer.
"Morgana here is in the fifth Order... She was in the sixth order, but after some events, her strength declined, and now she’s at the fifth order," Zohar answered without giving Morgana a chance to speak.
"You!" Morgana was stunned. "Do you have to go into that much information?!" she hissed.
’The fifth Order?! And she still needed a backer... Now I know why those old immortals don’t dare go against her. By joining them, I’ll have a fifth-order being as an ally... That’s good.’ Sunny thought.
’She won’t help me, but she will surely interfere if my life is in danger, because if I die, all the sweat they put into getting me here will be a waste. That doesn’t mean I should be careless.’ he thought, his mind racing.
’And I shouldn’t rely on the System... I need to grow my strength. No one knows the future or what enemies are waiting. I have a feeling Vinous is just a drop of water in the ocean. We all need to get stronger.’ he thought with a determined expression and nodded.
"Okay. I will join this cause and bring an end to Lester’s reign," he said.
The two looked at each other, and Morgana took a step back while Zohar took two steps towards Sunny.
"Okay, Sunny... There is one more thing to do," Zohar said, then added, "Are you ready to receive my bloodline’s powers?"
"Huh?" Sunny was speechless.
"Of course, the next in line must have my powers... Leaving without passing it down would be a waste. Besides, with my bloodline powers, your success rate will increase greatly," he explained.
Sunny blinked, his brain numb from all the surprises and shock he was getting.
