Chapter 1557: New Letter Arrived!

Chapter 1557: New Letter Arrived!

Alterra Town

The next day, Tener was visited by the ’Post Alert Boy’, to alert him that he received a letter from a certain city.1

The alert kid had to stay outside the unit, though, waiting for the person to actually answer the door.

Unfortunately, Tener’s guard shift was at night so he literally just got to bed. He knocked on the door every ten seconds, and he also pulled the string for the bell (most units didn’t have electronic doorbells yet).

Knock, Knock

Ring, Ring

Knock, Knock

"Urgh..." Tener mumbled, rubbing his face on his pillow. His soft, soft, pillow...

Knock, Knock

Ring, Ring

Knock, Knock

"Wake up," a voice from the side commanded, irking the half-asleep Tener very much.

"Urghhhhh—"

Annoyed, he lifted his head and glared at Dejel, who was laughing at him, amusedly. "What are you doing in my unit?" he asked. The two of them had access to each other’s units, but this was too annoying!

Boss Obi bought each of them—he, Dejel, and Leez—one studio condo unit each. A permanent citizen of Alterra could have up to three units in their name initially (if they could afford it), and the boss used all of his slots on them.

They really wanted to reject it—it was too much—but the units were apparently already lined up for title change, to be named after them, as soon as they bought their citizenships, which was really very soon.

Anyway, back to the present, the bearded young-dude Dejel was using his feet to shake him off the bed. "The Post Office Kid is outside, you know," he said. "It’s a letter from Hassen City."

"WHAT—"

PLOP!

The shock made him roll down the bed, smack to the floor.

"You should’ve started with that!"

As a favor from the Golds, they used his name to exchange letters with Captain Silva, who was currently working as a spy in Hassen City. The exchange was incredibly important, and he’d be ashamed to delay the news the Golds had been waiting for because he needed a snooze!

Dejel laughed while Tener haphazardly put on his outdoor clothes and opened the door to see the boy patiently waiting outside. He simply paid the Alert Boy, who happily bounced away because of his extra tips.

Tener headed to the Post Office immediately after that, and then sent the letter to the Golds immediately after.

Interestingly, he encountered Sir Oslo on his way to the Gold Patriarch. He was apparently there for a morning visit. He had his own home, but he made a habit of spending one meal a day with his parents.

Anyway, Tener handed the letter to him then, before finally heading home, satisfied with completing his mission.

Oslo, of course, decided to join in the opening of the letter. He entered the villa’s threshold and yelled that the long-awaited letter had arrived, and his father practically ran to him.

Oslo’s eyes twitched. A high-leveled person lunging towards him would never not be intimidating.

Zaol opened the letter as soon as he crossed the threshold, settling down on the comfortable sofa as he read its contents.

He brightened, his face lit up with a smile. "Silva was assigned to guard them!"

"How did you get that?" Oslo asked, looking at the letter that didn’t seem long. After all, Silva couldn’t have been explicit about it.

He blinked as he read it himself.

It said that he got his dream job, and he feels blessed.

"Oh." Concise, on point, and easy to understand. As expected of Silva.

"This is good, this is good, this means our communication with them will become more frequent, more detailed," Zaol said with a wide smile. "I’m glad."

Seeing an old man so happy made people’s hearts warm.

"Yes, I’ll prepare a nice villa for them," Oslo said. It was only a matter of another year or two, and new neighbourhoods would be erected. In the meantime, they could get her a nice penthouse condo in the new buildings.

Oslo smiled. "As the leading person in the construction team, I get first pick for some things."

Zaol nodded. "Yes, do that!"

"How do we get her here, though?" Gaia asked as she settled down, getting some tea for her and her husband. "She is still the Lord’s wife—at least one of them."

At this, Zaol’s excited atmosphere dimmed a bit, and it made Gaia feel a bit guilty. However, it was something they seriously had to plan about sooner rather than later.

Zaol looked at the ceiling in thought, and this time Oslo—who was privy to a lot of Alterra’s movements—gave them a hint.

"If we can find a way to get them to Bleulle..., we can probably help them out."

The couple blinked. "Bleulle?"

Oslo smiled. "We actually have people there right now," he said. "Their target is to bring a few people to Alterra—what’s two more?"

...

Bleulle City

A few weeks after they departed, the people from the Visto and Sephon Families had finally returned, but without success.

They did not arrive at the same time, but it was the Visto people who returned first, and followed by the Sephon Family shortly afterward.

They were called in by the Lord soon after they arrived, and they were ordered to immediately report their findings.

Which was none.

"The Golds?" Bleumrick asked, looking at the disgruntled men who refused to look at him.

"..it was false news, Milord, I apologize." Rolian, the heir to the Vesto family, reported with a bit of embarrassment. He was still wearing some bandages at this time.

In fact, even shortly after they left Bleulle, they encountered a lot of mobs already. However, even if they sustained some injuries, it was too embarrassing to go back not even a day after they left, so they pressed on to their destination.

Of course, the injuries and lowered spirit they suffered so early on definitely affected the smoothness of their trip. This was why— even before they reached their destination—they lost quite a few of their guards.

Worse? After days of difficult travel, and after days more of investigation, they found out that the Golds weren’t there at all!!

They were all quite confused.

Just what was going on? And where did all that seemingly valid news come from!?

  • Tener, one of the Obi trios (the guards Obi brought with him from Bleulle)
