Chapter 56 Rainy Night, Part Two

Chapter 11 A Beam of Light

The sound of footsteps stopped at the edge of the hatch on the deck, and a beam of light shone in.

Having been in the dark for so long, Jia Wenjun instinctively squinted her eyes at the sudden bright light, wanting to hide under the huge bags, but she couldn't move them no matter how hard she tried.

The light illuminated the space under the deck. Jia Wenjun, with Gouzi, had been hiding in the shadows. In the light, Jia Wenjun finally saw clearly that the soft things she was leaning against were bundles of huge, packaged blankets.

At this moment, with the help of the light, Lu Maowang also saw Jia Wenjun hiding inside.

He panted excitedly, "Little Jia, it's me, your Brother Lu. I know you're here. Don't be afraid. Are you hungry? I have an apple here, especially saved for you. If you're hungry, just say something, and I'll send it in."

Jia Wenjun looked up at Lu Maowang, the light of the phone shining on his fleshy, oily face. Because he was upside down, his face was a little flushed, especially those small eyes flashing with a thief-like glint, which made her shudder.

Jia Wenjun was certainly hungry, but she didn't say anything. She didn't want him to come down. There was no way out here. Lu Maowang always looked at her with lecherous eyes. If he really came down, the wind and rain outside were so strong that no one would come to save her even if she shouted until her throat was raw.

Lu Maowang's big head had already reached into the hatch, using his phone to shine light around the space: "I say, Little Jia, the place you found is really not bad."

His voice trailed off with a malicious smile, the sound echoing in the confined space, as loud as if he were speaking right next to Jia Wenjun's ear.

"Don't come down!" Jia Wenjun hugged Da Huang tightly, thinking that if he came down, she would let Da Huang bite him.

"Little Jia, you really don't need to be afraid, I'm just here to bring you something to eat. I found this apple in the flooded cabin, and I've already washed it clean." Lu Maowang tried his best to look sincere.

Jia Wenjun stared at him intently: "I don't want to eat it, you go away."

"Little Jia, you're not afraid that I'll drug you, are you? Then you've wronged your brother's good intentions. If you don't believe me, I'll take a bite first to show you."

Lu Maowang never intended to leave any apple for Jia Wenjun, he just wanted to lure Jia Wenjun out of the darkness.

Seeing that Jia Wenjun didn't crawl towards him, he took a bite of the apple.

The crisp, sweet, and refreshing sound of the apple being split by his teeth was especially tempting in this confined space, reminding Jia Wenjun of the extremely tempting apple in the Garden of Eden.

Jia Wenjun swallowed her saliva, still enduring.

But the dog beside her, who was in a state of hunger, couldn't take it anymore.

Da Huang's tail kept wagging, and accompanied by the dog's constant accumulation of force, Jia Wenjun was pulled violently. Caught off guard, with a bark, the dog dragged her out of the corner.

Lu Maowang saw that she had finally come out, and the smile on his face was almost impatient. Before, he didn't dare to go down rashly, because he was afraid that Jia Wenjun had something to defend herself with. Now that he saw she had nothing in her hands, he no longer hesitated and squeezed in through the hatch.

Seeing that half of Lu Maowang's body was already stuck in the hatch, Jia Wenjun shouted at Da Huang: "Bite him!"

Lu Maowang didn't expect that this could happen, but now it was too late to retreat. Stuck in between, he gritted his teeth and shook hard. With a "thump," Lu Maowang finally fell on the bags in the swaying light of the phone.

"Ouch, this place is high, but I didn't expect it to be so soft." Lu Maowang chuckled and got up from the blankets, picking up his phone from beside him.

He remembered Da Huang who was about to bite him just now, and as he was about to dodge, he heard a sound of ravenous gnawing beside him.

Lu Maowang followed the sound and shone his phone's light over there. Da Huang was already gnawing on the apple that he had dropped on the bag.

"Da Huang! Don't eat it!" Jia Wenjun tightly held the dog leash, trying to pull the dog to her side to protect herself from Lu Maowang.

Seeing the dog eating happily, Lu Maowang didn't panic at all, and slowly approached her: "Little Jia, don't be nervous, give me the dog leash, and I'll help you up."

Lu Maowang wanted to control Da Huang. His mind was now full of wicked thoughts, but he was also afraid that this big dog would go crazy and bite someone if it listened to Jia Wenjun's words.

"Lu Maowang, if you come any closer, I'll let the dog bite you to death!" Jia Wenjun saw that the dog was still reluctant to part with the apple and didn't show its fangs at Lu Maowang at all. She was both angry and anxious, feeling like she had raised this dog for nothing.

Lu Maowang suddenly shone his phone's light directly into Jia Wenjun's eyes. The strong light shot into her eyes, and Jia Wenjun felt like a bird caught in the night by a bird catcher's flashlight, unable to see the direction or fly.

"Little Jia, don't be nervous, let's have a chat." Lu Maowang approached step by step.

Jia Wenjun knew that she couldn't beat Lu Maowang in terms of physical strength, so she could only retreat step by step: "If you come any closer, I'll call for help!"

"Hehe, now the wind and rain are raging outside, who can hear your voice? Besides, so what if they hear it? Who would care about a murderer like you? Just obediently sleep with me, and I won't mistreat you. I promise to testify for you, proving that you didn't kill anyone."

He had clearly seen the video, but he said he would help her testify, proving that she didn't kill anyone. Could it be that this Lu Maowang knew something? Or was he just trying to coax her into submission?

Just as she was stunned, Lu Maowang wanted to take the opportunity to pounce on her.

Jia Wenjun wasn't one to be trifled with. She kicked hard towards the light, almost knocking Lu Maowang's phone off. Unfortunately, the strong light from Lu Maowang's phone affected her sense of distance, and Lu Maowang dodged the kick.

"Heh, pretty good, I like this kind, energetic enough!" Lu Maowang said as he was about to pounce on her, causing Jia Wenjun to scream quickly.

Seeing Jia Wenjun and Lu Maowang wrestling together, Da Huang, who had finished eating the apple, finally pounced over.

Lu Maowang didn't want to be bitten at this time. If it wasn't treated in time, he might get rabies.

In Da Huang's snarling whines, he finally took two steps back.

"Hey, hey, let's do this, no fighting, let's talk about something realistic. No one will come to rescue this ship for a while. Now, apart from me, no one on the ship will give you food. As long as you follow me, I promise to bring you food every night." Lu Maowang tried a soft approach after the hard one failed. He didn't believe that she wouldn't submit without food.

Jia Wenjun was furious, pointing at Lu Maowang: "Get lost, I'd rather starve to death than eat your things."

"Don't speak too soon. Do you think there's too little food distributed on the ship every day, and I can't fill your stomach by giving you half? Don't worry, I've stored food myself. I'm the only one on this ship who knows where to find fruit. If you want to survive on the ship, you can't do without vitamins. As long as you follow me, I guarantee you won't suffer." The flesh on Lu Maowang's face trembled, revealing a狰狞smile.
