Chapter 30 Magical Realism Two
He was furious. "Nao Nao, go back to your room to sleep."
Nao Nao was snuggled up against Da Huang, sleeping soundly, and didn't hear his dad calling him at all.
Hu Si Xiang put down his wine glass and was about to stand up, but he couldn't muster any strength in his body. He slumped back into the chair.
"Lao Bai, wake up, give me a hand, I want to go and wake my son up."
Bai Ma Shan was awakened by him. He stared blankly for several seconds, still half-asleep, before finally understanding that Hu Si Xiang wanted him to help him get his son up.
Bai Ma Shan's arms and legs had gone numb from lying down for so long. He wanted to move around a bit before standing up, but he didn't expect his limbs to be unresponsive.
Just as he was in shock, a slight tremor came from the deck.
Both men sitting in the chairs swayed violently. It felt like a car suddenly starting, catching the passengers inside off guard and almost throwing them out.
Hu Si Xiang, who had been twisting his body trying to stand up, was thrown forward by the inertia and slammed into the corner of the table, which hit him right in his already bloated belly.
"Ugh!" The food and wine in Hu Si Xiang's stomach instantly spewed out. Fortunately, Bai Ma Shan wasn't sitting directly across from him, or he would have been covered.
Bai Ma Shan wanted to get up, but there was nothing he could do. He could only watch helplessly as Hu Si Xiang, after vomiting, slammed his face heavily on the table, and the plates and cups fell to the ground with a crash.
The sound of the porcelain shattering on the deck traveled along with the vibrations, the noise stimulating Jia Wen Jun's eardrums.
Lying on the deck, her neck stiff, she couldn't lift her head at all. She could only force herself to open her heavy eyelids and look in the direction of the dining table.
However, she couldn't see anything. She was lying on her side, so she couldn't even see Zhao Di behind her. In the chaotic haze, she only vaguely heard dragging sounds and a series of footsteps moving away. And on the dining table side, there was absolutely no movement.
Jia Wen Jun only had a slit left in her vision. She wanted to open her eyes wider, to persevere for a while longer, but her eyelids still closed uncontrollably.
"Ah, help..."
Zhao Di's voice was sharp and shrill, exploding behind her, but the next second it was gone.
Jia Wen Jun, her mind in chaos, was startled. By the time she desperately wanted to distinguish whether it was Zhao Di who was calling out, the surroundings had returned to silence.
As time passed, the short cry for help was like being swallowed by the sea, making Jia Wen Jun, who was drowsy, even wonder if she had just had an auditory hallucination. It was all too surreal, making her wonder if she was dreaming, and if everything would be fine when she woke up tomorrow morning?
Although she was drowsy, the last shred of reason in her mind told her that this was not a dream, this was real.
Thinking of the scream just now, Jia Wen Jun's heart began to beat violently.
Something must have happened! She wanted to bite her lip, to use the pain to stimulate herself to wake up, but her whole face was numb, and her jawbone couldn't exert any force at all. Her eyeballs slowly rotated within her closed eyelids, and even this simple action exhausted her.
She was so tired and dizzy that she finally couldn't hold on any longer, and fell into a deep sleep on the deck.
Like a nightmare that lasted for a century, Jia Wen Jun finally heard the sound of the waves again on the swaying deck.
The sky was turning pale. Her body, which had been blown by the sea breeze all night, was shivering from the cold. She opened her eyes, and the seawater that occasionally splashed on the side of the boat landed on her skin, finally confirming that she was no longer dreaming.
She had actually slept on the deck all night, which meant that everything last night was not a dream!
At this time, she no longer had the abdominal cramps and nausea, or the weakness in her limbs that she had felt last night. Although her mind was still a little dizzy, the symptoms were entirely like a hangover.
Could it be that she really just drank too much last night?
Remembering the fantastical experiences of last night and the cry for help she had vaguely heard, Jia Wen Jun laboriously turned her head slightly to the side. There was no one behind her, and Zhao Di was nowhere to be seen.
Her mind was still a little numb, and she could only try her best to piece together the memories of last night.
She was certain that she had seen Zhao Di crawling towards her, and she was also certain that when she fell, Zhao Di had already crawled to her side.
But now Zhao Di wasn't here, where would she go? Could it be that she woke up and didn't care about her, and went back to the cabin to sleep on her own?
After all, given Zhao Di's relationship with her, it would be perfectly normal for Zhao Di to do that.
But she remembered the scream last night, and she still felt a strange sense of worry in her heart. In order to quickly confirm whether she had misheard, Jia Wen Jun's hands trembled as she tried to quickly prop herself up to check on Zhao Di's condition.
However, she had been in this prone position for too long, and she had been frozen all night, so her limbs were numb. She couldn't even feel that her feet were still on her legs.
Jia Wen Jun panicked and could only shout in the direction of the cabin, "Is there anyone? Is there anyone?"
Her voice was hoarse and trembling, and was soon drowned out by the sound of the waves.
After gathering some strength, she strained her voice and shouted several times. This time, she was sure that the sound could reach the cabin, but after waiting for a long time, no one came out.
There wasn't a sound on the boat. The people inside seemed to have disappeared into thin air, leaving only the sound of waves lapping against the side of the boat.
