Chapter 133 Counterattack

Chapter 1 The Encounter

Wu Peng took Jia Wenjun's house key and returned to the residential complex. Following the address Jia Wenjun had given him, he found her building and apartment number.

As the elevator doors opened, he saw a young man wearing a baseball cap standing in front of the door.

Both of them were stunned for a moment. Wu Peng spoke first, "Bai Xun? What are you doing here?"

Bai Xun hadn't expected Wu Peng to be here either. He paused and said, "I live here. What are you doing here?"

"Helping someone get some things," Wu Peng said vaguely, not wanting to go into detail.

Seeing that the elevator doors were about to close, Bai Xun quickly stepped inside. Wu Peng walked out. The two brushed past each other, and Bai Xun nodded to him as a farewell.

Wu Peng knew that this kid didn't talk much, so he didn't say anything and waved his hand at him.

He glanced at the layout of the corridor, two apartments per floor. Wu Peng knew that Bai Xun lived with his father, Bai Ma Shan, but he didn't expect that the father and son actually lived across the hall from Jia Wenjun.

Bai Ma Shan's injuries weren't serious, so he didn't know if he was home yet. Wu Peng looked at the apartment number across the hall, then turned around, unlocked the door, and entered Jia Wenjun's home.

This was the first time he had entered a single woman's home when the owner wasn't there.

The house was very clean. He saw a brand-new dog cage in the living room, which must be the cage for that big yellow dog she had mentioned earlier. Jia Wenjun had originally planned to have him pick up the dog when he went to get his phone, but now that her family was all in the hospital, it looked like the dog would have to be fostered for a while.

Next to the dog cage, on a wall, were several thin shelves. Wu Peng knew what these were for. His grandfather had them at home too. They were for holding fishing rods, but Jia Wenjun's fishing rod shelves looked more trendy.

Next to the fishing rods, a piece of A4 paper hung, with small fish-shaped lures with hooks on them. Wu Peng knew these were artificial lures, used for lure fishing. He had mentioned this to his grandfather before, saying that this type of fishing could catch big fish and was more interesting than his traditional platform fishing, but his grandfather just couldn't accept this new thing, thinking that artificial lures couldn't catch fish.

Wu Peng didn't expect Jia Wenjun to be into lure fishing. Next to the shelves were some hand tools, pine boards, and various colors of paint and small accessories. He looked at the lures hanging on the wall and then at the handmade parts. These artificial lures were actually made by her.

She put these things on the wall, and he thought it looked pretty cool.

But he wasn't here to tour her house. Following Jia Wenjun's instructions, he entered her room. He had thought that a woman's room would be warm and cute, but Jia Wenjun's room was a neutral, cool color scheme. Everything was neatly arranged, with no extra decorations, only some necessary furniture and appliances, but the quality all seemed high. The whole room gave off a rational and calm feeling.

He opened the drawer she had mentioned. Inside, there were no snacks, no cute plush dolls, only many books for civil service exams, and some hardcore detective novels.

He took out her laptop. As he left her room, he noticed a few interesting sketches hanging on the wall. On closer inspection, he found that they were signed by Jia Wenjun.

He was once again surprised by Jia Wenjun's talent, but it was just surprise. He didn't have time to think too much now. He took the laptop, locked the door, and returned to the hospital.

Jia Wenjun was anxious. There were many things she wanted to do. She was afraid that the police would suddenly come and take her away before she could finish them.

Wu Peng returned quickly. Jia Wenjun took the laptop, thanked him, and then opened it and began to type furiously.

In just half an hour, she turned the laptop to show him an article she had just written.

"You want to use this to report the case?" Before Wu Peng went to get the laptop, Jia Wenjun had told him that there was evidence inside that could prove her innocence.

Jia Wenjun shook her head. "No, I want to post it myself. Since they want to use public opinion to crush me, then I'll give them a taste of their own medicine. Help me take a look at it. If there are no problems, I'll post it."

Wu Peng didn't expect her to be so tough, daring to face those brainless netizens and the people posting behind the scenes at this time. Posting this was undoubtedly a direct declaration of war.

"Are you sure you want to do this? Actually, handing the evidence over to the police and letting them handle it might be more prudent." Wu Peng began to worry about her, after all, the other side was in the dark, and their strength and numbers were unclear.

"I'm sure." Jia Wenjun had been prepared to go all out from the moment her parents were injured.

If they wouldn't let her have a good life, she wouldn't let them live in peace either.

The wording in Jia Wenjun's article was precise and the evidence was solid. There were no emotional outbursts, only rational analysis and refutation of the previous slanderous articles.

This article was much more profound than the slanderous one. It was clear at a glance which was better. After reading it, Wu Peng felt that this online battle had already been won.

Wu Peng had been hearing about Jia Wenjun's "deeds" from his grandfather, but after getting in touch with her, he found that she didn't seem to be the way others described her. Although it was still too early to draw conclusions, Jia Wenjun's image in his mind had changed at some point.

Watching her click "post" and then @ the Ludao Group official website and the police, this scene of an ordinary person staking everything to seek justice for themselves gave Wu Peng a strange sense of excitement.

He had been in a hurry to get her things earlier, so Wu Peng now had time to ask her where she had gotten all this information.

Jia Wenjun didn't hide anything and told him that her evidence came from her own overtime work.

Ever since she saw Gong Dalong and Sun Jiaojiao's affair, Jia Wenjun had been very careful, trying not to appear in the office during off-hours. But Gong Dalong often pushed his work onto her, so Jia Wenjun applied to have the company's management system installed on her laptop.

To Gong Dalong, this was nothing, so he readily agreed.

With Gong Dalong's permission, the company's network administrator casually gave Jia Wenjun an administrator account, hoping for convenience and leisure, so that he wouldn't have to answer Jia Wenjun's calls on weekends.

One or two people seeking convenience gave Jia Wenjun a level of access in the company's system that was somewhat beyond her rank. She could even see Gong Dalong's private messages in the system.

Once, after helping him with overtime, Jia Wenjun opened Manager Gong's private messages. The content opened a new world to her. The emails not only contained Gong Dalong and Lili's flirtations, but also some fake accounting that Lili had done for Gong Dalong.

It was after that that Gong Dalong realized that Jia Wenjun seemed to know about his affairs. He deleted all the evidence and never dared to easily put the blame on her again.

But Jia Wenjun had already taken screenshots of the evidence at that time. She just wanted to make sure that she wouldn't be bullied by Gong Dalong before she left. She had originally planned to delete all this dirty stuff when she resigned, but she didn't expect it to come in handy now.
