San Tian Liang Jiao
Chapter 1321 Returning to Jumo Island (11)
"Mind if I ask... what are you talking about?" Feng Bujue was a curious person, so he asked.
However, the two of them didn't seem to want to answer him.
"None of your business," Mad-Eye said simply.
Blackbeard had already drawn the Triton's Sword from his waist, channeling his power into the blade, and brought it down in a single strike.
The oppressive force of this attack was palpable even to those standing a dozen meters behind Blackbeard. There was no way the altar's defensive magic circle wouldn't react.
Unfortunately… reacting was useless.
Before Blackbeard's power, the magical energy contained in this magic circle only lasted for a second before collapsing.
When the magic circle dissipated, the altar, which was physically just a pile of wood and stones... was naturally vulnerable.
Thus, amidst a rumbling crash, the altar of the God of Wisdom, Wisdon, was reduced to rubble.
The eight people in the distance watched the scene in silence.
They were all waiting quietly... waiting for Blackbeard to say or do something.
However, what awaited them was...
"Your actions are exactly as I expected."
A voice, completely unfamiliar to the players, echoed from the dissipating dust ahead.
Everyone looked toward the sound, and soon... they saw a blue portal gradually forming.
"You pirates really haven't changed... still so crude and rude." As he spoke the second sentence, an old man in white wizard robes, with a punk hairstyle and a long staff in hand, stepped out of the portal.
"You haven't changed much either," Blackbeard replied coldly, looking at the man. "Still as hypocritical and disgusting as ever."
"Hmph..." Wisdon snorted. "Blackbeard, I don't want to waste time arguing with you. I'm just here to ask you..." He glanced at the eight people behind him. "...and your subordinates, to leave Chew-Magic Island."
"Since when did you become the master of Chew-Magic Island?" The tone in which Blackbeard said this said more than the words themselves... he was not the kind of person who could be "asked" to leave.
"As everyone knows... the master of Chew-Magic Island is the Lord of Time," Wisdon said calmly. "Of course, he has already fallen... logically speaking, it should be taken over by a Time Official." He shrugged and smiled. "Heh... unfortunately, his Time Officials aren't very promising either. Apart from a few replaced guys and traitors, almost all the other Time Officials were killed by an Otherworld Traveler called 'Swallowing Sky Ghost Brave.'"
Although Wisdon had once been close to several Time Officials, his expression was more mocking when describing the above incident, indicating that Blackbeard's assessment of him as "hypocritical" was not unfounded.
"Since the Lord of Time and his direct subordinates are all dead, then... as his former 'ally,' it seems reasonable for me to take over Chew-Magic Island, right?" As Wisdon spoke, he casually tapped his long staff on the ground.
Instantly, a not-so-strong burst of magical energy spread out.
Seconds later, rustling sounds echoed from the woods around the clearing. Before long, a large group of Illusion Demon Church sorcerers, dressed exactly like the "captive" from before, with their mouths sewn shut with thread... appeared on the edge of the clearing, surrounding the entire area.
Honghu quickly scanned and estimated the number of enemies, finding that there were as many as one hundred and twenty... He couldn't help but think: If these guys collectively opened their mouths, the scene would probably be more terrifying than if they joined forces to cast an explosive array.
"What did you say?" Blackbeard didn't care about the miscellaneous soldiers; he was more concerned about some of the information in Wisdon's words. "You are the Lord of Time's 'ally'?" As he asked this, Blackbeard glanced back at Mad-Eye, then continued, "I heard... you and the other Eight Gods and Four Pillar Gods are enemies?"
"Heh... that was then, this is now," Wisdon said. "Indeed, when the era of the Four Pillar Gods first arrived, we had some disagreements with them regarding the issue of 'power'. We paid some price in dealing with these disagreements..." He paused. "However, later, I figured it out... the rise of the Four Pillar Gods is the will of Heaven. Even we Nine Gods cannot defy it... So, I chose to follow the trend of the times. I returned from another dimension and, after contacting the Lord of Time, became his ally."
"Oh~" Just as Wisdon finished speaking, Brother Jue on the other side chimed in with a strange tone, raising his voice. "In simple terms... you and your eight brothers wanted to divide the territory with the Four Pillar Gods, but after a group fight, four of you were directly killed. You and the remaining four survived, fled in panic, and hid in other dimensions. After a few years, you realized the principle of 'if you can't beat them, join them', shamelessly sneaked back, found the Lord of Time, who also belonged to the Order Faction, and knelt down to become his dog... I think there's nothing wrong with what I'm saying, right?"
Indeed, Feng Bujue's analysis was flawless, basically in line with the facts, but... his statement was the exact opposite of Wisdon's "sugarcoated" version – it was too harsh.
"You..." This was the first time Wisdon had met Brother Jue, and naturally, it was also the first time he had personally experienced this level of "cheapness". After being mocked, his hand was already trembling. "A mere Otherworld Traveler... dares to speak so wildly..."
"Ha? 'A mere Otherworld Traveler'?" Feng Bujue repeated the other's words, laughing arrogantly. "At least I'm a Lesser God. It's one thing if you can't see my strength, but you don't even know what I look like... it seems you've really been raised like a dog all these years..."
"Ah..." At this time, Honghu, who was quite dark-bellied, also joined in, adding insult to injury. "That's only to be expected, right? The Lord of Time isn't a fool. Someone as ambitious as a defeated general... he definitely wouldn't reuse. Using 'shelter' as an excuse, confining him to his own territory and finding someone to monitor and control him... that's the best policy."
Their duet completely enraged Wisdon, because... their deductions were accurate, and every word hit Wisdon's sore spot.
Although Wisdon himself said that he and the Lord of Time were "allies," the truth was seen through by Brother Jue at a glance - he had only taken the initiative to find the Lord of Time and expressed his willingness to "serve like a dog" in order to return to the main universe. As for the Lord of Time's thoughts... they were the same as Honghu said; he would never trust a guy like Wisdon, but as a Pillar God of the Order Faction, you couldn't just drive him away or kill him, right? That wouldn't sound good. So, the Lord of Time confined Wisdon to "Clockwork City" (the city where the Time Officials were located, which was a different place from the Lord of Time's own "Time Domain"), gave him a nominal "managerial" position, but didn't give him any real power or authority.
Over the years, Wisdon had basically been freeloading in Clockwork City, playing chess at this Time Official's house today, and going to a rave in that Time Official's cave tomorrow... Under the Lord of Time's instructions, the Time Officials tried not to mention external affairs to Wisdon, lest he get information and cause trouble... And they naturally wouldn't reveal Wisdon's return to the main universe to the outside world.
Later, Thriller Paradise opened, and the main universe began to enter a new era. With the joint efforts of the players and Derivants, the number of Time Officials became smaller and smaller... Finally, one day, Clockwork City became a ghost town, but Wisdon was still restricted by the barrier set by the Lord of Time and could not leave this space.
Until... the day of Ragnarok, the barrier disappeared. Wisdon understood... this was the signal of the Lord of Time's fall, and from that moment on, he truly "returned" to this world.
"Presumptuous!"
Back to the present, after being exposed by the two players, Wisdon's accumulated anger over the years was triggered. When a person endures for many years and finally makes it, it is easy to make him go berserk by exposing his old wounds...
As the word "presumptuous" left his mouth, Wisdon pointed his staff, and a fireball with a diameter of more than three meters instantly condensed and flew toward Brother Jue and the others.
