San Tian Liang Jiao
Chapter 509 The Cursed Hospital (8)
Before long, Feng Bujue followed the sound of crying and arrived at the hospital's nursery.
Brother Jue was quite familiar with monsters like ghost infants, having encountered one in the Ye Jie High School scenario. Back then, his combat ability wasn't much different from a normal person, and he still managed to deal with the monster. So, at this moment, he felt somewhat confident.
"It sounds like there's more than one..." Feng Bujue realized as he approached the nursery door. "Could there be some kind of 'open-door kill' waiting for me?" he wondered. "Do I have to finish getting the candy before I can come here and open the door?" He tilted his head, frowning. "Hmm... come to think of it, newborns can't eat candy, right? Or maybe babies in the Monster Kingdom are born with super-powered digestive systems?"
He hesitated for a moment, but still pushed the door open. After all, there weren't any obvious signs of impending doom here, and it wasn't as obviously terrifying as Room 109.
Stepping inside, Feng Bujue found himself in a rectangular space of eighty square meters, with dozens of mini cribs neatly arranged. These small beds all had railings around them, presumably to prevent babies from falling out.
After sweeping the room with his flashlight, Brother Jue discovered that... only five cribs had babies in them. Four were in the four corners of the nursery, and the last one was on the crib closest to the door.
The four babies in the distance were all crying, but the one near the door was perfectly silent...
"Hmm... as the saying goes... a dog that bites doesn't bark..." Feng Bujue muttered as he pulled out his folding knife, shining his flashlight on the infant closest to him.
Unexpectedly, the child raised a hand to shield its face and spoke, "Hey! What do you think you're doing? Trying to blind me? Get that light out of my face!" The voice was surprisingly deep, sounding like a young man in his twenties, with clear, forceful enunciation and a thick Black accent.
For a moment, Feng Bujue thought he was hallucinating. The voice was so out of place in this setting that it completely deflated the atmosphere of horror.
"What's going on? Is that you, Chris?" He slowly moved the flashlight away and took two steps forward. (Here, Brother Jue made an untimely joke, referring to Chris Rock.)
"Who?" the baby replied. "What kind of bull are you talking? My name is Martin."
"Uh... sorry..." Feng Bujue could now see the other's appearance clearly. The "Martin" before him was indeed a baby, but judging by his size, not a newborn, more like seven or eight months old. Also... his skin was definitely black, and he had a pointed horn on his head that looked like a lightning rod.
"Are you the security guard here?" Martin asked, looking up at Brother Jue.
"Yeah," Feng Bujue replied.
"Oh, perfect. Can you shut those four kids up? They're driving me crazy." Martin sat up and pointed to the other four babies in the corners of the room. The children were still crying.
"Um... what should I do?" Feng Bujue asked.
"Do I have to teach you everything? How did you get this far?" Martin retorted. "Even a blind man can see they're hungry. Figure out a way to feed them!"
"I see... they need milk, huh..." Brother Jue responded. "Hmm... I know a nurse..." He gestured in a lifting motion at his chest. "Maybe she can help..."
"Are you freaking kidding me?" Martin continued, his tone rhythmic and rap-like. "Don't you even know what babies eat?" His words were peppered with the "f" word, in its progressive form.
"Whoa... Mr. Martin, you're not that old, but you sure have a potty mouth..." Feng Bujue quipped.
Martin glared at Feng Bujue and flipped him off with his tiny middle finger.
"Okay..." Feng Bujue realized that bantering wasn't going to keep the conversation going. He also understood that the children of the Monster Kingdom didn't need to be breastfed, so he asked, "Well... what am I supposed to feed them?"
"Vomit! What else?" Martin replied matter-of-factly.
"Huh?"
"Are you making that face to emphasize the fact that you're an idiot?" Martin continued.
After a moment of surprise and hesitation, Brother Jue quickly made a deduction. He mused, "The sandwich... so that's what it's for..." He took a deep breath. "In a way, this scenario is truly challenging..."
"What are you mumbling about?" Martin urged, pointing to a spot in the room. "The bottles are over there. You puke into them and screw on the lids. Is that clear enough? Or are you too stupid to understand?"
"Yeah... crystal clear..." Feng Bujue said solemnly, walking towards the direction the other indicated.
He had the look of someone about to make a noble sacrifice.
[Side Quest Triggered] popped up in his ear.
[Feed the four Monster Infants with Vomit] appeared in the quest log.
Clear quest instructions, a simple quest line that could be completed immediately. None of that was the problem. The only problem was... the content of the quest.
Brother Jue quickly walked to a long table against the wall. On the table was a metal tray with four bottles shaped like baby bottles. The tray and the bottom of the bottles were all covered with thick liquid of a strange color that didn't look like milk...
"Heh... that's convenient, no need to wash them after..." Feng Bujue said, placing his flashlight on the table and reaching out to open the bottles one by one.
Next was the "food preparation" step...
"Think positive..." Feng Bujue took out the plastic bag from his pocket. The moment he opened the seal, a putrid, moldy stench assaulted his nostrils. "At least I don't have to worry about not having anything in my stomach, and I don't have to stick my fingers down my throat."
Brother Jue took out the sandwich and took a bite. His plan was to finish this quickly, swallow the thing in a few bites, and then quickly throw it all up. But... with the first bite, he knew he was in trouble.
The level of disgust of this sandwich far exceeded his expectations... the overflowing sour juice, the mold clinging to his teeth, the wriggling maggots... all challenged the limits of human physiology and psychology.
Scary Paradise had always been exceptionally realistic in its simulation of disgusting substances. Any normal person... might instantly rage quit after this bite, because it was simply too unbearable...
But Feng Bujue... his eyes quickly turned from surprise to anger.
He seemed to have made up his mind... and viciously drove his jaws, grinding the clinging unidentified substances with his teeth, swallowing them all down.
Then, after about five seconds of brewing, he lowered his head and vomited, filling the first bottle.
"Alright... three more bottles..." He picked up the remaining sandwiches with determination and took another bite...
And so, five minutes passed. Feng Bujue successfully filled the four bottles with vomit and put the nipples on them.
"Hmph... is that all there is to it! Hahahaha!" He laughed loudly, as if he had accomplished some great feat, then scurried off to a nearby sink, turned on the faucet, and began to rinse his mouth...
Fortunately, the tap water in the Monster Kingdom... was still tap water. If sulfur or something came out of the pipes, Feng Bujue really wouldn't know what to do.
He poured water, rinsed, and gagged for a long time, finally getting rid of about seventy or eighty percent of the taste in his mouth. Then, he took out chewing gum from his pocket, put all three sticks in his mouth at once, and chewed vigorously.
"Was this quest even designed for humans?" Brother Jue put the four bottles on the tray and walked towards the first baby in the corner. "Even though I'm playing a monster in the scenario, the system should know I'm a player, right..."
The subsequent steps were much simpler. As soon as the monster babies saw Brother Jue carrying the "food," they raised their hands and their cries turned into babbling noises. As soon as Feng Bujue held out a bottle, it was snatched away. Watching the children suck the liquid in the bottle with relish, even Brother Jue couldn't help but be taken aback...
"Ah~ much quieter now." After the four children had all quieted down, Martin by the door heaved a sigh of relief.
Feng Bujue put the tray down and walked back to the door. He glanced at the game menu and saw that the quest was not yet checked off. It seemed he still had to "report back" to Martin.
"I feel like... in this universe, and any other universe... there's nothing I can't do anymore." Brother Jue stood in front of Martin with a look of emotion, reciting in a floating voice. At this moment, his inner thoughts were: if the reward for this quest is junk, I'm going to stab you to death...
"Good job, bro." Martin continued. "I was about to have a nervous breakdown if they kept going on like that." He paused and asked, "Hey, you got any cigarettes?"
Feng Bujue looked blankly at the "baby" in front of him, then silently pulled out a half-pack of cigarettes from his pocket and handed it over...
Martin casually took one out, put it in his mouth, then glanced at Brother Jue and shrugged.
Since his subtext was clear, Brother Jue didn't say anything... just took out his lighter and lit the cigarette for him.
"Whew--" Martin exhaled a smoke ring with a look of ecstasy and a mature demeanor. "Ah... it's been so long since I've had a smoke."
"Here, you can have the whole pack..." Feng Bujue said, placing the cigarettes and lighter on the other's crib.
"Heh... thanks." Martin smiled, a smile that was as terrifying as it was terrifying. "I think you're a pretty good guy, and you've helped me out a lot, so I'll give you something as a token of my appreciation..."
