Chapter 1478 Closing Remarks
So, the main text is finished. The story arcs I planned have basically all been pushed through. It's a smooth ending according to the outline, and the difference from the expected time isn't too big. I said it would be finished by the end of last month, and it's about right. It's good that the plot ends here. The original plan was to return to the real universe as the ending, and that's the feeling of abruptly stopping that I wanted. Although there would still be things to write afterward, those are other stories. *The Legendary Mechanic* in the city and such won't be described in the main text.
This book has also been written for three and a half years. It's the first time I've written such a long novel of five million words, so there are bound to be some areas where I lack experience. But now that I look back, the overall completion is okay. I wrote what I planned to write, and a smooth ending is a good thing.
In a while, I'll have to reread it myself from beginning to end, sort out and summarize the advantages and disadvantages. My original intention was to write a relaxed novel that people would find interesting. Looking back, I did okay. Sometimes the humorous passages I wrote made me laugh out loud myself, which is quite rare.
Although I've written several books, I always feel a little melancholy when they end. After all, *The Legendary Mechanic* has been serialized for three and a half years and has become a habit. During the serialization period, I looked forward to vacations, but after it's finished, I don't feel like playing games or watching movies. Some people joke that writing novels is more fun than anything else, and it's actually true. Once you get used to it, you can't let it go. If I don't write for a day, I feel bored, but when I write, I feel mentally exhausted. So, I still need to rest for a while, recover my mental state, and digest the experience.
I think that the serialization period is like leveling up, and the free time after a book is finished is the stage of systematically adding points. It's not okay not to summarize after writing. To be immodest, my progress in this book compared to the last one should be very large, probably as much as five floors.
The results of this book are still very good, with an average subscription of 54,000. It's also quite popular on the international site. The initial subscription was probably around 3,000, but it gradually improved in the middle and slowly rose afterward. Some brothers feel that I wrote well in the early stages, but in my current opinion, the early stages were the most naive. However, when I first started writing, I had the most enthusiasm and the best state, which can make up for it a bit. Overall, writing this book was more cautious and precarious. Every day was a new challenge. I was afraid that my state would be unstable one day and I would go down the wrong path. It would be difficult to change in the serialization process. I encountered this kind of risk at least a dozen times. Fortunately, I finally reacted in time and deleted and rewrote it before publishing, Maintaining the mental pressure of a best-selling book is still greater than imagined. But for me personally, it was an interesting process. Three and a half years is enough for a student to finish high school and enter university, and with an extra half a year, they might even find a girlfriend. Long-term serialization is more tormenting, but it's also a rare life experience. With the foundation of this book, I have experience in the architecture of long novels, and I can use this as a basis to become more proficient and add points to the update speed.
Looking back on the serialization process of this book, the rhythm, structure, and results are generally relatively stable. Player NPC themes are inherently not easy to stabilize. Later, I changed my focus and extended the life of the work, turning from a gimmick-type novel to focusing on plot content. I did okay in this regard. I'm not a player who explodes with enthusiasm. I try to keep the number of words I write stable every day within an appropriate amount that I can bear, so that I can maintain my state for a long time. Rashly increasing or decreasing it will disrupt the writing rhythm. I still need to make trade-offs and focus on stability. I'm quite satisfied with the final overall completion. In fact, novels have to be written slowly. The best state for serialization is like Great-Eyes, Go Away, and Cuttlefish That Loves Diving, stable and firm, and writing is also pleasant. However, the market emphasizes output, so I'll think of ways to improve it later.
When writing this completion testimonial, I also had the whim to count it. The outline, detailed outline, and discarded drafts of this book add up to about 1.45 million words, which is almost equivalent to one-third of the words in this book. I feel that there shouldn't be many people who have more than me. I still have to sort it out from the beginning. I feel a headache just looking at it. There's really too much.
As for the creative ideas and techniques in it, I think every finished book is a textbook. It's too troublesome to talk about. I haven't even finished sorting it out myself. It's best for those who are interested to extract it themselves.
Returning to the story itself, the overall structure and layout of the novel is quite clear in my opinion. I did okay in this regard. I also like the world view architecture of Galaxy, but this also made the stall too big, requiring more time to finish. Otherwise, it could have been finished in the first half of the year. In fact, most of the plot holes have been filled. Some brothers feel that some places are abrupt, but there are basically foreshadowings or foreshadowing in the front of the book. You can always find them if you look back.
This ending was set more than a year ago. I also don't like endings that explain everything in detail. I prefer endings that revisit the past or leave blank space. No matter how magnificent the waves are, they will eventually return to a plain life. I quite like this concept. The plot after returning to the real universe was not intended to be written in the main text. The clues have all been given, and the rest can be deduced by following the trend. Just leave some aftertaste.
Regarding the characters, although the protagonist prioritizes interests, he can always bring good changes to the world. Judge by actions, not by intentions, and he's still good. Some characters also have their own personalities, but in the whole story, my favorite is actually Laji, a firm pessimist, and lazy enough, he'll lie down if he can, which is simply the dream state, ha.
It seems like I'm rambling a bit far. It's easy to be long-winded when writing testimonials. Back to the main topic.
In short, after the main story is finished, I should write some side stories from time to time. It may be some character biographies, or extended stories that are not easy to write in the main text and drag the rhythm, such as the detailed experiences during various version updates, or the personal adventures of certain characters. I'll study what to write in detail later.
As for sequels, it depends on the situation. I don't have any ideas at the moment, but I might write them if I'm interested in the future.
During the serialization period, my brain is relatively single-threaded. I'm immersed in the world of the book, afraid that if I pull it out, I'll lose my state. I don't care about other things, and many things have been delayed. After writing, I still have to go for a comprehensive physical examination, see a doctor, take care of myself, and exercise. After I've adjusted, I'll seriously write a new book. Now I've only created a blank folder, and I haven't thought about anything yet. I need to empty my brain for a while before I have the energy to conceive.
In addition, if you are interested in news about the manga, anime, and other adaptations of *The Legendary Mechanic*, you can follow Weibo "起点齐佩甲" (Qidian Qi Pei jia), or the public account "齐佩甲" (Qi Pei jia). I will release any first-hand news and resources there and announce it.
Finally, thank you for the support of all the brothers, especially the poets in this chapter and the friends who make fan works. They often inspire me. They are all talented and speak nicely.
Thanks to editor-in-chief Chang Tian, and the help of editors Ni Qiu, Zhi Zhen, and La Tiao. Thank you for your hard work during the serialization period.
Thanks to Shan Yu Yu Lai Feng Man Lou and other managers and moderators for their support. I don't do much in the book review area, and most of the activities are operated by the moderators. Thank you very much.
Finally, thank you to all the big shots who gave rewards. Bosses are generous, I am grateful.
It's a good thing to be able to write books and make money with your ability and be self-reliant in this era.
As long as the novels I write can make people feel a little interesting and think they are worth reading, it will be perfect for me.
We'll meet again in the new book. I wish you all a happy life.
Qi Pei jia thanks you.
