Chapter 109: I’m back, give me a hug?
After lunch, the group packed up and boarded the car.
Guo Wei and Yang Xin, holding hands, stood at the gate of University of Technology to see them off.
“Drive safe, Jiang Zhou! I’ll bring Yang Xin to visit next time!”
Jiang Zhou rolled down the window. “Be nicer to her from now on. Stop arguing over every little thing.”
The couple smiled at each other, sweet and affectionate.
“Jiang Zhou, about that 3,800 yuan, I’ll pay you back once I’ve saved enough,” Yang Xin said.
Jiang Zhou looked at her. “No need. You two just help me keep an eye on the promotion of the project when you have time.”
Guo Wei nodded, tugging Yang Xin’s hand. “Jiang Zhou doesn’t care about the money. Let’s just help him more.”
“You bastard. You got a girlfriend and sold out your bro, don’t you feel any shame?”
“Next time you sell me out, I won’t say a word.”
Jiang Zhou pointed at Guo Wei. “Xin-jie, be careful. This guy’s snoring sounds worse than a damn jackhammer.”
Yang Xin instantly blushed. “His… his snoring has nothing to do with me!”
Hearing this, the two bros exchanged a knowing look.
They had been partners-in-crime since high school. They understood each other’s tricks.
That line just now? A solid assist.
Now, it’d be easier for Guo Wei to ask Yang Xin to spend the night sometime.
After all, he could just say, “Come enjoy my snoring, it sounds just like a power drill!”
“Oh right, how did things go with Fat Yan?” Jiang Zhou asked.
Yang Xin sighed. “I made things clear with her. From now on, I’m me, and she’s her.”
Guo Wei looked worried. “But you’re still roommates. Will she accept that?”
“I’ve already decided. Whether she agrees or not doesn’t matter anymore.”
Jiang Zhou nodded. “Good. Then I won’t worry. See you at Shangjing University!”
“Mm, see you.”
“See you!”
They all waved and said their goodbyes.
Jiang Zhou stepped on the gas and drove onto the Second Ring Road.
Autumn leaves now covered much of the streets.
The trees lining both sides of the road had begun to fade into golden yellow.
As soon as they exited the Third Ring, Jiang Zhou’s phone rang.
Lu Qiang’s name flashed on the screen. Chu Yuwei helped him pick up and held it to his ear.
“Hello, boss. We’ve stirred up a hornet’s nest of unknown numbers!”
“What? Unknown numbers? Be more specific.”
Lu Qiang took a deep breath. “Over 80 off-campus orders since this morning! Non-stop!”
Jiang Zhou’s brows furrowed. “It’s that lunatic Yin Shuya again, isn’t it?”
“Exactly. All the orders came from her. We’ve had to screen and delete each one manually.”
“She’s nuts. Doesn’t she have anything better to do?”
“What should we do, boss?”
“Don’t deliver any of Yin Shuya’s orders. I’ll be back soon and deal with her myself.”
“Roger that.”
After hanging up, Jiang Zhou looked annoyed.
You can offend anyone but never offend a rich woman.
But running forever isn’t a solution either.
It’s time to teach Yin Shuya a lesson. Otherwise, she’d really think I’m just a helpless kitten.
Just then, the phone rang again. This time, it was Han Rou.
“Hey bro, where are you?”
“South Third Ring. What’s up, Rou Rou?”
“You’ve been gone two days already. When are you coming back?”
“Around 3 PM. Missing me already?”
“Of course! And not just me, someone else is missing you too. Hurry back!”
“Someone else? Who?”
“You’ll find out when you get here. Drive safe!”
“Got it. I’ll take you out for dinner tonight.”
—
In the Ganfanren office, Han Rou hung up and turned to look at Feng Siruo, standing nearby.
The girl looked a little embarrassed…
Because of that line: “Someone else is missing you too.”
She didn’t expect Han Rou to say that.
Now she was scared Jiang Zhou would guess that “someone” was her.
“He said he’ll be back by three. That’s soon, isn’t it?” Han Rou smiled.
Feng Siruo nodded obediently and handed her a candy.
Han Rou unwrapped it thoughtfully. “Classmate Feng, you really haven’t talked to my brother for three days?”
“Mm…”
“Sigh. Only you dare treat him like that.”
Feng Siruo looked confused. “What do you mean, only me?”
Han Rou paused. “My brother always looks happy, but he’s actually super short-tempered. If I ignored him for three days, he’d already come over and whack me. But with you? He just has no idea how to deal with you.”
Ah!
She understood.
What Han Rou meant was that he treated her differently.
Feng Siruo tilted her head, pretending not to understand.
But in her heart, she felt a soft, fluttering warmth.
Like a breeze slipping into her chest.
Just then, the front door’s wind chime rang.
A silhouette appeared — short but solidly built.
The moment Feng Siruo saw her, she crouched behind Han Rou.
“Han-senpai! Is Siruo here?”
Han Rou cleared her throat. “Nope, haven’t seen her.”
“Wanted to ask her to lunch. Guess she vanished again…” Ding Yue muttered a few words, then turned and left.
Once she was gone, Feng Siruo stood up and patted her chest.
Good thing she didn’t get caught.
Otherwise Ding Yue would’ve launched into that wall-hanging princess story again…
She knew she had no backbone, waiting every day for Jiang Zhou like this.
But she’d gotten used to having him around.
Without him, she always felt anxious.
She didn’t know what missing someone really meant…
But she knew that she’d gotten used to being teased by Jiang Zhou.
