Chapter 105: So No Snoring, Huh?!
“Kind patron, please open the door of convenience for this humble monk!
“Two kind patrons? Have you already gone to bed?”
Jiang Zhou had arrived on the third floor, knocking on the door of Room 303.
Not long after, Mu Xiaoxiao, wearing a bathrobe, opened the door.
Although it opened, there was still a chain fastened on the inside.
“Boss, what do you want?”
Jiang Zhou rubbed his nose. “I came to inspect the employee lodging conditions.”
Su Nan poked her little face through the crack in the door.
“We booked the same room types. What’s there to inspect?”
“Well… on-site inspections give me peace of mind. It shows I care about my employees.”
Bang!
Su Nan shut the door, undid the chain, then opened it again.
Jiang Zhou smirked and walked in.
The two girls were both wearing the hotel’s pure white bathrobes, standing barefoot on the ground.
On the coffee table sat half a durian shell, releasing a powerful and indescribable stench.
“You’ve got tomorrow’s materials for Director Chen ready, right?”
“All set. One copy for her, one as backup.”
Jiang Zhou sat on the couch. “Good. But there’s something I need to tell you first.”
Su Nan glanced at him warily. “No. You are not sleeping here. Otherwise I’ll tell Sister Han and Student Feng!”
“Geez, what do you take me for? A sleazy boss?” Jiang Zhou wiped his sweat. “No, I mean something important about our meeting with Director Chen tomorrow.”
Mu Xiaoxiao sat on the bed. “That Director Chen gives off strong ‘don’t mess with me’ vibes. She kind of scares me.”
“Exactly. That’s what I want to talk about. As to why she acts like that.”
“That’s not just her personality?”
Jiang Zhou pulled out a letter. “That Director Chen is an old acquaintance of our Director Yan.
She’s not arrogant, she holds a grudge against Yan Weimin.”
The girls’ eyes instantly lit up.
Gossip? Perfect bedtime conversation.
“Why does she resent him?”
“Because Yan Weimin dumped her back then and married someone else, so now, she’s going to take it out on us.”
Su Nan frowned. “So we made this trip for nothing?”
Jiang Zhou waved the envelope. “Not necessarily. It depends on how this letter works.”
“Isn’t this the one you wrote the other day?”
“Yeah, a love letter I wrote on behalf of Old Yan. To be delivered tomorrow.”
The girls were stunned. “That’s way too shameless!”
Jiang Zhou rolled his eyes. “Hey, it’s not made up. I just wrote down what he truly felt in his heart.”
“How do you know what he feels?”
“You didn’t see Yan Weimin’s face that day. He’s clearly still got feelings for her!”
The two girls exchanged glances.
If it was lingering affection, maybe this letter would work.
Maybe it could melt some of Director Chen’s coldness.
Su Nan suddenly remembered one line from the letter: “If I’ve breathed the same evening breeze you did, then haven’t we already embraced?”
Too beautiful. Too painful.
Even if Director Chen was fifty, that line might still shake her.
“Alright, serious talk is over. Time for the not-so-serious stuff!”
Su Nan’s expression instantly turned sharp. “What are you thinking again?”
Jiang Zhou stood up. “I wanna watch otaku dance. The paid kind!”
Bang!
Thirty seconds later, he was locked outside.
Su Nan even tossed out a pair of broken cat ears.
“This girl’s too much! I was gonna pay!
“Stupid fat basketball ruined everything. Should’ve just let Guo Wei suffer alone!”
Jiang Zhou grumbled, lit a cigarette, and went back upstairs.
He couldn’t go back to his room. Guo Wei’s snoring was like construction work.
If Yang Xin ever reconciled with him, she’d suffer for life.
Now his only option… was Chu Yuwei.
But knocking directly would make him look desperate.
He had to make her invite him, so he went to the front desk and chatted with the receptionist, asking her to call Chu Yuwei’s room in three minutes, saying someone needed to check fire safety equipment.
Mission arranged.
Jiang Zhou rushed upstairs and curled up on the hallway bench pretending to sleep.
Creak!
Not long after, Chu Yuwei stepped out barefoot.
She was wearing her own light beige nightgown, collar slightly open, revealing a stretch of snowy skin.
“No one’s checking fire safety…”
She looked around and, no surprise, spotted Jiang Zhou.
He was curled up, arms crossed, “asleep” on the bench.
“Jiang Zhou?
“Why is he sleeping out here…”
Chu Yuwei rushed back in, slipped on slippers, and hurried out again.
She gently shook him a few times. There was no reaction.
So she bit her lip… and gave him a quick kiss.
Her face instantly flushed red.
Nervous. Panicking.
He won’t wake up from that, right?
If shaking didn’t wake him, a kiss shouldn’t either… right?
Meanwhile, Jiang Zhou was laughing to himself inside.
You little rascal. Taking advantage of me while I’m sleeping?
No wonder my lips were dry when I woke up from the hospital nap.
You better not have done anything worse!
“Jiang Zhou, wake up! You can’t sleep here!”
He slowly opened his eyes. “Huh…? Yuwei? What are you doing here?”
Chu Yuwei blushed. “I should be asking you! Why aren’t you in your room?”
“Oh, I couldn’t sleep. It’s too noisy.”
“Noisy?” She looked confused.
Jiang Zhou pointed at his room.
Chu Yuwei leaned in to listen.
Snooorreeee!
it echoed right through the door.
“Who’s in there? Isn’t that your room?”
“Guo Wei. He and Yang Xin fought, then came to drink with me. Now look at him.”
“Hmph. And what about that Ji Wenyen who was with Yang Xin?”
Jiang Zhou almost choked. “You think I’m interested in her? I only kept her back so she’d pay the bill!”
“Really?”
“Of course. Ask Guo Wei tomorrow if you don’t believe me.”
Chu Yuwei puffed her cheeks. “I knew you wouldn’t go for someone like that…”
Jiang Zhou sighed. “But now I’ve got no place to sleep. Guo Wei’s snores are driving me nuts.”
“What should we do… Should we book another room?”
“No spare IDs. Can’t check in.”
She hesitated, then said, “Well… you can stay in my room tonight if you want.”
Jiang Zhou pretended to hesitate. “That might not be appropriate… we’re just classmates.”
“But I can’t let you freeze in the hallway…”
“Okay… but you better not try anything. I’m still a pure, innocent lad.”
Chu Yuwei’s cheeks turned pink again, remembering that kiss. “I-I’ll behave, alright?”
Jiang Zhou paused, then nodded. “In that case, I’ll trust you just this once.”
“But you better behave too, okay?”
“I can’t promise anything. Depends on the situation.”
With that, Jiang Zhou swaggered into her room.
Chu Yuwei quickly looked around the hallway, made sure no one saw them, then scurried in behind him.
